Hi all,
So now that Switch 2 it out. I really need a new screen.
Anyone got any recommendations for a screen which has either built in speakers or sound bar included for the UK?
I don't need a smart TV or anything just a bog standard 4K TV with speakers.
I'm so out of touch nowadays I have no idea.
Help Please.
Cheers!

Go and ask your local retailer to find the details on what TV that works. This site is visited by everyone world wide so asking this is best left to local retailers to find one that works for you.

Basically you need an OLED screen with HDR.

It should have multiple HDMI 2.1 ports (& you’ll need to use the cable in the S2 box to connect it). VRR is also desirable but S2 doesn’t support it yet (but it could be added..)

When I say you “need” an OLED with HDR you really do. They are amazing.

With LG they classify their models A, B, C etc. they get more expensive but the maximum screen brightness increases (this is the big thing you pay more for but it can be hard to see on the spec sheet).

@Bunkerneath rtings.com does a pretty good job of reviewing tv's (located in US). Granted sometimes UK/EU get different panels than US, but the reviews often cite those differences if they exist.

Sometimes they knock a tv for motion blur, but I'm not exactly sure I'd notice the blur on some more mid range tv's.

Most tv's with good gaming features are 48" or 50"-65", and that's were some of the better priced models are. For 42"-43" tvs, there's less options, and you may have to buy a high end, more expensive model to get the gaming friendly features/performance. Like, some of the good budget/mid-range TCL & Hisense tv's aren't available smaller than 48".

Do you really need a new TV? It seems like the Switch 2 isn't as easy to setup on a TV as you think the way they have done it leads to poor results. I've already seen guides on youtube for setting up the Switch 2 properly and it should give better results. I would definitely spend time setting up the Switch 2 with your existing tv to make sure you are seeing the best your existing tv can do. My TV is an older model with passive 3D but I love 3D occasionally and really don't want to change it. It's a 4K TV without HDR but still looks amazing to me at times. I love playing super stardust on it in 3D. Remember clever image processing often creates a lot of input lag often many modern TVs you strip back the image features to get low input lag and they don't look anywhere near as good as they do for non-interactive entertainment like movies. Some televisions have input lag around 90ms which is very high. My existing TV has very low input lag but then it also has more limited image processing but I think it was claimed to be around 30ms but a review stated 22ms. Maybe that varies with resolution. For a great gaming experience factor in input lag.
