wow the game was announced nearly four months and NOBDOY has made this poor little cutie a thread. forgive me if there IS one, and delete this and redirect me.
Drag X Drive is a $20 first party e shop title nintendo is releasing, and it features wheelchair basketball, that is mainly played with the Switch 2’s mouse controls! sounds cool honestly. It releases on August 14th!!!

i personally dont know if ill get it, but my curiosity will lead me to check out the Global Jam Demo event nintendo switch online members can access this weekend. the mouse controls are the main thing getting my interest. they also just released icons for switch online members based in the game!!

I like the concept of it, but it looks incredibly bare-bones. If there were actual original characters in the game you could play as and a more pleasing aesthetic, I might have picked this up.

I'll play the Global Jam but will probably leave it at that

Yeah my issue with this is that it looks very very generic, Nintendo could have easily given the players some sense of character which would have made it feel more fun and make it a more attractive prospect.

How cool for disabled people would it be if we had actual cool characters that they could go wow look Gwen with the Pink crash helmet in the wheel chair in Drag X Drive is just like me she's feisty and tenacious, and I say this as someone whose misses is in a wheelchair most of the time.

@kerr9000 I agree, they should've made it Switch Sports Wheelchair Basketball with Miis. That kind of disability representation would've given them a lot of good press too and been a genuinely bold and positive move.

I think they just cynically wanted to make it look a bit Rocket League like aesthetically :-/

@Suketoudara I kind of think it was a tech demo that they realised they could turn into a game and get a few quid out of it with minimal effort sadly.

I’ve just downloaded the game earlier. It looks interesting to me because of the controls but I really can’t tell if it’s my kind of thing.

I could end up changing my mind on this but I’m not a fan of the aesthetics of the game. I’m used to many Nintendo franchises being chock full of colour and that’s how I like it! But I shouldn’t speak too soon as I haven’t even played it yet.

I’ll write another reply here soon once I’ve played the game a bit and will share my thoughts and opinions. Especially intrigued to see how difficult/fun the controls are. Very unique idea!

Just started it and I kinda love it since it's super fun, but I think that I won't be getting the full release since the demo will give me my fill unfortunately. It's an awesome concept but like others have said many a time, that Nintendo Charm just isn't there.

I'm really enjoying the demo. Nice concept. Makes your arms tired.

It's funny to play and see others constantly miss shots because they are trying to do trick shots but if you simply go straight and throw a 2-pointer it's basically impossible to miss unless someone rams you.

Just racing around is kind of more fun than the actual team basketball.

I wish you didn't have to use the mouse for scrolling through the menu... it's not like the buttons don't exist.

Like the above comment, I am probably not actually buying the game; a couple hours of demo play is basically all of the game I feel the need for.

Regarding my previous comment, I take it back when I said that the nintendo charm isn't here, It absolutely is, I mean it's a game that you play with two mice.

While I do wish that they went with a different design for the characters and environments, I do appreciate them experimenting.

It's quite fun when you get the hang of it and get into a rhythm.
I was certainly struggling with the controls quite a bit initially, and I still struggle, but it can be fun!

What are others using as a surface for the mouse mode?
I bought some cheap placements made of MDF and cork which worked decently for Welcome Tour, but I'm struggling a bit with this game; having said that, this game is a lot more intense.

It's certainly unique and I love that, but I'm not 100% sure if I'll buy it yet.
I'll wait for reviews to see if there's any other content (which I don't think there is), but, yeah...

It is pretty cheap, though, so that works in its favour.

@ATMVF I'm just using my pants, works alright haha. My desk doesn't have enough space to slide the joycons across.

I believe there are more unlockables, since there's those stopwatch holograms outside of the park that I wasn't able to reach, so im assuming something with time trials or something like that.

Or maybe I just didn't get far enough in the demo.

Cool! Quite a few people seem to use the pants method! Ha, whatever works; I guess I thought that wouldn't be the best option, but I may give it a go.

Ah, interesting about those potential unlockables, even if it's just minor stuff.

I sort of want to see this game succeed, even though it's not very fleshed out, but the price IS appropriate, I think.

Haha yup, I’ve played a bit and this is what I’ve found. I was enjoying it but I’m doubtful I’ll buy the game. But still, I’m gonna play more to be able to properly judge it.

excited to see NL’s review today (if it comes today. im guessing most outlets will give it…7/10

It's scoring higher than I anticipated.

I'm going to give it a punt as I enjoyed what I played of the Global Jam and fancy playing some more.

60/100 on metacritic which is pretty low for a Nintendo game. Although higher than Welcome Tour I suppose.

most critics are giving it a 6/10, saying good gameplay and implementation of mouse controls, but the lack of content is troublesome and the mouse controls can be tiresome after a while. if it gets more updates i honestly might snatch it up! like wheres kirby in wheelchair form?
