I woke up this morning and realised that I haven't been on my Switch 2 in the last 5-days, and I feel like crying because I'm not really missing it, and I think the reason why is because of a lack of new S2 games.

Mario Kart World - Great game, I still play it on occasion but not as much as I used to do.
Donkey Kong Bananza - Absolutely brilliant game, I have completed it a few times, I still haven't collected all the bananas and go on it again occasionally.
Kirby Star-Crossed - Fun little game, completed it, don't really care about 100%-ing it.

The games that are on their way such as Pokemon's I'm not interested in at all, Metroid as a FPS game doesn't work for me, Age of Calamity and Air Riders I may buy just for some pick up and play fun every now and then, and I've decided not to buy Galaxy 1-2 at least not yet, going to wait for price to drop and probably buy it used on ebay or something somewhere down the line.

Apart from the above mentioned games there really isn't any news of anything great on the horizon. Nintendo seem to be just releasing mostly old games with a few enhancements, and for me that's not good enough.

I have a feeling in my gut that we're not going to get a new mainstream Mario title or Zelda title anytime soon, I'm thinking they're both at least a year or two or more away, and that's a long wait for NEW games.

Am I the only one feeling let down by Nintendo releasing OLD games that we've already played on S1 and not really giving us anything new?

I know a lot of gamers like variety in games but for me I need Mario and I need Zelda and as of right now there's absolutely no information on either of them and I'm getting worried that my S2 may just end up gathering dust for a while, which makes me sad.

I'm ranting on I'm sorry.

What is everyone else feeling about the current line-up of games that we know of coming in the next few months and in to 2026?

MKW, Bananza, Age of Imprisonment, Kirby Air Riders, Mario Tennis Fever, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book... and I think Pokopia for all the Switch 2 exclusives we know of so far, and not indie?

Personally I only have Pokopia on must buy in that list, but I'm superbly happy on the 3rd party and indies (Pretty much can't wait for Hades 2, and also, Legend ZA that's just SUPER SOON) so I don't have much issues.

For me playing on handheld is just really nice. I'm trying to not play any games right now since I know anything I get into, will be thrown away when Hades 2 comes out in 1-2 days.

I think the Switch 2 lineup is one of the strongest of the latest console launches.

In the first six months alone, there are first-party titles such as:
Mario Kart World
Donkey Kong Bananza
Pokemon Z-A
Metroid 4
Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment
Kirby Air Raiders

And then there are third-party titles (just to name a few):
Cyberpunk 2077
Star Wars Outlaws
Yakuza 0
Street Fighter 6
Hitman

And there are even more games lined up for 2026

Final Fantasy VII Remake
Mario Tennis Fever
Yoshi
Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave
Resident Evil 7
Resident Evil 8
Resident Evil 9
Dragon Quest VII
Yakuza Kiwami 3
Pokemon Pokopia
Tomodachi LIfe

Whether these are all good titles for you personally is up to you.
For someone who already has a PS4 or 5, Xbox, or reasonably decent PC, there are certainly quite a few old titles in there. But for those who have only been playing on the Switch, there's a lot here that's worth checking out if you're into these genres, etc.

And I'm sure that sometime in the future there will be another big 3D Mario and Zelda, a new Paper Mario, and so God will something along the lines of Kid Icarus or Wave Race or Star Fox

@Kellvasion Gods, a new Kid Icarus along the line of Uprising will be SO good. I will even accept a Kid Icarus: Uprising Remaster with a new control scheme that's better for Switch 1 / 2... it's one of my favorite game on 3ds. Played it on low difficulty and also on higher one and it's just so much fun to gamble on higher difficulty until I eventually have to lower it anyway.

The weapons are also super cool...

@darkfenrir I'm at the point where I'd even be satisfied with a remastered version of the very first NES game. It's about time to wake Pit up again.

Second that.

Console launches almost always start off slow. The Switch is a half-exception only because it had a ton of Wii U games ready to easily port and a lightning-in-a-bottle system seller with Breath of the Wild (and even that one is sort of a Wii U port).

Since the Switch 2 launched, I've bought/downloaded these S2 games, which IMO range from good to excellent:

Guardians of Azuma
Bravely Default Remastered
No Man's Sky, Switch 2 Edition
Cyberpunk 2077
Donkey Kong Bananza
Handy Hockey
Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World
Silksong
(I'm not counting BotW and TotK here, because their S2 editions are not different enough from the S1 versions to count as S2 games to me.)

And later this year I'm planning to buy Star Wars Outlaws, Hades 2, and Age of Imprisonment, at the very least. So with such a wide variety of quality first and third party games, I have zero complaints about the Switch 2 line-up.

I personally think that the lineup so far has been fantastic. This is actual weird Nintendo territory that we're in right now. We've got:
An openworld Mario Kart
The first 3D Donkey Kong in nearly three decades
Robot wheelchair basketball
A mainline Pokémon that isn't turn-based
Another Hyrule Warriors
A sequel to a two decades old GameCube Kirby racing game
The first Metroid Prime game in 18 years

And that's not counting the Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 remasters, plus any Switch 2 Editions, or the other games coming out next year. I'm loving the Switch 2 release slate so far.

Formerly ShieldHero

My top 5 favorite games:
1: Pokémon Violet
2: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3: Animal Crossing New Horizons
4: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
5: The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG

I can sorta understand being disappointed with the line-up if the Switch 2 is not your main gaming device, and you only bought it for Nintendo's first party games. But for me it is my primary platform for video games now (just like the Switch 1 was before it), and I haven't played anything on my gaming PC since the Switch 2 came out in June, so I'm definitely happy with it.

I'll chime that support as well. People need to keep their expectations in check. Good games take time and expecting one every month is not par for the game Devs. Games take time to make and QC before releasing ETA shows up.

Is the Switch 2 launch window lineup good? Depends on your perspective I suppose. I think the Switch 2 currently has more noteworthy exclusives than the PS5 does five years into its lifecycle. Astro Bot and...and...and...?

Switch Physical Collection - 1,529 games (as of November 20th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 3 games (as of November 23rd, 2025)

Yeah, unfortunately the Nintendo Switch 2 was never going to give you that 2017 launch line-up that the original Nintendo Switch had. It just... almost never happens. If you really are looking for specific games to play, I think purchasing a console at launch is generally not advisable. If you are looking for variety and really want to explore multiple genres and whatnot, its not so bad.

But I definitely get where you are coming from. Nintendo's flagship games seem to already be out and you already have them, and unless Pokémon and Metroid are your thing, there isn't much chance of anything else coming out aimed at you until after Spring 2026.

Myself, I currently have 26 games on the Nintendo Switch 2 currently on my radar from launch day to Spring 2026, so in my eyes, it's hit the ground running and I'm struggling to keep up!

For me, this is the best overall launch lineup I can remember, and I've been here for all of them. I'm a Switch only gamer, so the releases have been fantastic - many games I haven't had a chance to play.
My 1st few months of launch games...granted now I can afford more games...
NES: Gyromite, Mach Rider, Duck Hunt, Mario
SNES: Mario World, Sim City
N64: Mario 64
Gamecube: Rogue Squadron
Wii: Wii Sports, Red Steel
WiiU: Didn't buy
Switch: BOTW, Shovel Knight
Switch 2: Mario Kart, Cyberpunk, Hogwarts Legacy, SF6, Silksong, DK Bonanza, Hades 2 (tomorrow)

If MK, DK, Pokémon, Warriors, Metroid, Kirby, Mario don’t appeal to you… what does?

And why did you buy a Nintendo system?

Definitely feels like we should have at least one more tentpole exclusive than what we currently have. Something on the level of a new 3D Mario or new 3D Zelda (I'm not surprised that those two specifically aren't here yet, but something on that level is sorely needed), that would really seal the deal for this lineup. As is, they're relying on too many ports and cross-gen games and there's little in the way of must have exclusives. Definitely falls a tad short of the Switch's 2017 lineup.

That's a something I like to know as well. Your range there covers the gambit and to see what they say would be interesting.

That's an overly simplistic way of looking at it. Yes, the IPs are there, but not in new, original games which would be naturally more appealing than ports, cross-gen games, and remakes/remasters. And several of the design decisions for these games are very questionable, such as MK having an empty open world with nothing to do for $80, Pokemon only taking place in one city which doesn't look to be comparable to a full sized region, and Metroid having open world segments that feel contrary to the very genre it co-founded. So it's not as good a lineup as it would appear from that kind of framing.

As far as what IPs are still missing that would be more compelling, at least one of the following would've helped I think:

-The NEW, ORIGINAL 3D Mario, preferably the open world Bowser's Fury successor we're all expecting
-Smash 6 (I personally don't think this is coming this gen and I'm not interested unless they do something wildly different, but there's a lot of people that want this)
-Luigi's Mansion 4
-the next mainline Animal Crossing game
-Splatoon 4 or at least Splatoon Raiders coming early 2026 and us actually knowing WTF it actually is

Again, the issue is that I don't think we have enough of the big tentpole games yet and they're trying to sell us on scraps and minor upgrades.

I haven't bought any consoles early in their lifetimes in a while. Waited a few years for the Wii, PS3, PS4, then Switch, then PS5. I think it's asking a lot to expect a full library this close to launch.

However, in the case of the Switch 2, it actually seems to be pretty stacked compared to the first year of most other consoles. I wouldn't be surprised if we look back on this console as having one of the best launch periods ever (although it's hard to top getting a full fledged new Zelda at the launch of the Wii and Switch, even if both games were developed primarily for the previous console).

I've supp'd for months on naught but broth of bean
