No rollercoasters though, they are not kid-friendly.

I know lots of people have been dreaming about this for years, me included, but I never expected Nintendo to announce this so soon. Who else could the big N have secretly partnered with, I wonder? Also I will be fine with whatever they do as long as there is a F-Zero rollercoaster.

Not much to say here. I like Nintendo. That's about it.

Oh man, this is awesome! Hopefully it won't take too long for them to set this all up.

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

Well, looks like I will have to go to Universal when this is done (if it is the LA Universal)

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I find it ironic that it's Universal Studio. To think the studio that once sued Nintendo thinking that Donkey Kong was infringing on the King Kong copy right could now have Donkey Kong in the same park as King Kong.

Nintendo made the right choice. Universal is king when it comes to thematic representation of an IP. Even Disney doesn't go as far as Universal does in that regard. In WW of Harry Potter, you felt like you were stepping into Harry Potter's universe. The line of the Spider-man ride in Islands of Adventure manages to give a really convincing portrayal of the world. Same with the Mummy ride.

I'm ecstatic that Universal can now do this for Nintendo franchises.

Ideas:

Big Attractions:

  • Rollercoaster themed after the iconic DKC minecart levels.
  • Actual go-kart track with a Mario Kart theme (maybe a recreation of one of the more realistic in game tracks, like Luigi Raceway N64).
  • Luigi's Mansion ride (more of an "experience", like the Earthquake or Jaws rides).
  • Virtual reality Metroid or F-Zero ride (like how the Back to the Future ride is done).

Smaller Attractions:

  • Duck Hunt themed shooting gallery.
  • Nintendo Experience - Arcade featuring only Nintendo arcade cabinets (classics like Donkey Kong alongside newer ones like the Mario Kart ones. Maybe some other arcade games that Nintendo may consider important enough to their legacy as well, like Pac-Man & Galaga), as well as kiosks of their current/upconing consoles with demos of upcoming games.

I'll think of more later.

Why not a haunted Zelda Dungeon attraction?

I'm not sure if this is a reply to me or not, but I'll shoot.

Being haunted is the primary theme of Luigi's Mansion (or a general Super Mario ghost house too), and it's what it is known for. While ghosts aren't unheared of in Zelda dungeons, being haunted is usually just the theme of one (if that) in the game, and is not something generally synonymous with thoughts of a Zelda dungeon.

TBH, I had a hard time coming up with a Zelda themed ride, but I think I've finally came up with something. A water ride either seeing you make your way through a water dungeon, or riding the waves of the great flood that buried Hyrule. The "Log Flume" variety would work best if a water dungeon (think Splash Mountain at Disney World) as it would be more methodological, while the "White Water Raft" variety would work best if it's riding along the great flood (think Fury of the Nile at Worlds of Fun. Silver Dollar City has one too, though the name currently escapes me).

It wasn't a reply to you. Just a random thought. But I think that Zelda does the haunted atmosphere so well that it would work really well as a haunted attraction.

Okay, here's my ideas for the heavy hitters. I've been to Universal Florida at least 4 times, so I'd like to think I know the park pretty well.

For kids/smaller rides:

  • Donkey Kong Minecart Roller Coaster
  • Kirby Gourmet Race ride - Like the teacup ride, only your sitting in giant pieces of food, like Maximum tomatoes and hamburgers.

Extreme Thrill Rides:

  • Mario Kart Antigravity Coaster - As much as I'd like F-Zero to get this ride, I doubt it will because it isn't as big as Mario. Sorry guys.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Water Temple - A creepy water ride through a water-like temple. Complete with ReDead animatronics, and an escape from Ganon at the end, where you go down a giant flume.
  • Metroid: Escape from Zebes - Like the Mummy ride. If anyone's ever rode it, it blends a rollercoaster with top of the line animatronics to create a scary and thrilling story. Imagine a giant animatronic Kraid and Ridley, and watch as Samus tries to help the riders escape. Me gusta.

Ooh, I'm not sure what the possibility of Pokémon attractions are, but how about a Pokémon Safari/Snap ride. It'd be a slower paced ride where you'd observe higly detailed animatronic Pokémon in the environment. Each car would have digital camera devices built into it, allowing the kids to get involved and snap photos. Via a free mobile app, at the end of the ride you could transfer the photos taken to your mobile device to take home.

@iKhan, that does sound cool. It's just that as you said, they're very good at recreating fantasy worlds in believable ways, and I think because of that, they'd opt for the Luigi's Mansion idea if they were going to do a haunted attraction. I'd personally enjoy it more as a Zelda attraction, though

I like your other ideas, but the mine cart roller coaster HAS to have Shy Guys in it! My favourite level in MK8 is Shy Guy Falls, it's pretty much a roller coaster already

Sounds like Universal wants to get the ball rolling quickly. Maybe we won't have to wait too long for some juicy announcements.

I'm back! But only for today.
I hope I'm still kinda young enough when the project is completed to fully enjoy this... I just turned 16 today.
Yeah, I know people of all ages will enjoy this theme park, as well as my future kids, but I just think I'd appreciate this most as a mature teenager...

God first.

Fantastic idea - a Nintendo island or theme park of its own (which could be easily done) in Florida or California would print money

She was like a candle in the wind... Unreliable.
