Nice. Except for the obvious emulation lag and terrible half baked LRG CRT filters they apply to all of their retro ports like Clock Tower Rewind, Rocket Knight Adventure Collection, Tomba!, etc. But iff a bit of lag doesn't bother you, you don't like CRT filters anyways, and don't have an NES or CRT(etc) on standbye than this is the way to go.
Just seeing a physical copy of Jaws on Switch is quite the trip. Cover art looks awesome, as expected since it's peeled directly from the NES original. Also, I hate how games these days add the rewind feature. It's technically cheating. How are you supposed to get better at what you play if you're not punished by dying and then starting back at the beginning of the stage, or past stages if you lose all of your lives. You won't die period if you keep rewinding the moment you die.
Which leads to zero sense of reward, feeling of accomplishment etc because you never learn properly from your mistakes and master prior stages. Hysterical. And I'll admit, I've barely played any of my LRG retro ports(Rocket Knight, Tomba!, Boy & his Blob & Clock Tower) because they totally fumbled the CRT filters and latency is obvious compared to the real thing. I can't play 8-32 bit games with razor sharp artificial sprites. They were always desgined to look soft, round and cartoon-like on the standard def CRT's we grew up in the 80's, 90's & 2000's.
Wont be buying anymore emulations unless they're Arcade based and they nail the CRT filter, just like with Arcade Archives, and Capcom's Arcade Collections(Capcom Stadium 1&2 etc). And i can't believe they're selling this for $34.99 US. An old mediocre(At best) NES game, that included some useless music player(I can listen to the OST on YouTube for free), terrible rewind feature, SaveStates(Don't care), Achievement points Trophies(Again, don't care) and a gallery? Meh. I can just get the NES cart for $20 CAD, instead of paying $15 more and then having to wait months and months for it to arrive in the mail.
But i still get the appeal. If gamers don't want to mess with old hardware & software, including CRT's, and just roll with Switch 1 or 2, PS5 etc on something like a QD-OLED/OLED, than this is a no brainer. There's no way else to play NES JAWS 'legally' based on what's current and in the now. If i were in this position, and still loved physical media I would of been first in line for this. Or at least buy it digitally once avaiable. The cover art is too legendary to pass up, even if the game itself is just ok. lol
Also says. Will be available to order in Dec 19, but the estimated shipping date is April - June. So best case scenario you get it in 4 months, or 6 at most.
