With Nintendo online subscription can I download games like Mario Kart Delux for free or I need to buy the game even if I paid for Nintendo online?

Nope, the subscription allows you to play online multiplayer with games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, you still need to buy the game. Most Switch games require the subscription to play online, save for a few free-to-play online games (like Fortnite, Spellbreak, or Ninjala for example, these can be played without a subscription).

You can download SNES and NES games for no additional cost from the eShop, but you need to have an active subscrption to download and play them.

Yeah like Nintendo or any game company for that matter is going to download $60 games for free while only paying what $10 a year?

@lsz Mario Kart 8 has to be purchased. It's an "evergreen" Nintendo title, rarely(almost never?) goes on sale. If it does go on sale here in North America region, at best it gets 20%-25% off.(that's as good as it gets)

I've never seen Mario Kart 7 on 3ds go on sale on eshop either. If it's gone on sale on eshop, I've never seen it.

Mario Kart 8 is why I got a Switch. It's great.😉

@lsz Yes you will still have to pay for the games.

@lsz like everyone else said it's subscription that allows you: play Nintendo games online, play for free chosen NES/SNES games and have from time to time to try game for free for a week.
