Hi, I could really use some help with this one. I contacted Nintendo about a problem with my Gamepad, but before I send it in I wondered if anyone had the same issue.
I bought my system on launch day, and when the charge would get low I would get a message on the screen telling me that the battery was low, and would need to be charged. It had the 'continue' button on it, and it would appear on my Gamepad screen as well as my TV. The lights were also starting to turn red on the pad, as they do now.
However, about a month or so ago when I use the Gamepad the warning lights still turn on but the message does not appear on the screen. It's a pain because when I would be in the middle of a game and I got the message, I would either plug it in or save the game and shut the system off to charge. Now I don't always notice the lights and when I am deep in a game it's inconvenient when the pad suddenly shuts off.
I have a return authorization to send it in, but I don't want to be without it for too long. I had wondered if one of the updates might have negated it, but I'm not sure. Also, when I emailed Nintendo initially they seemed to know what I was talking about and to call support so I could tell someone personally. Support has no clue about it and says there is nothing regarding it in their system.
Does the game itself warn you? It hasn't shown in a bit, and I do remember it showing up more than once. I didn't think it was game related just for the system itself. Huh. The only games I currently have now is Wheel of Fortune and Just Dance 4. (Don't Judge ME-I have a 15 year old who loves gaming too ) I just haven't seen it for a while and assumed it was something wrong with the system. Thank you for your reply.
Did you try replacing the Gamepad battery. Nickel Cadmium or Nickel Metal Hydride batteries found on such device like the Gamepad has charging memory. If you frequently charged it when it's not fully depleted (power totally drained out) it's memory diminished. You need to charged it if it's power is at least 20% or below (it's best to fully drained the battery of it's power before charging at least once a month). It could be the Gamepad's battery giving up & needs to be replaced.
I think it's the game that warns you. I've never seen it and the only time my battery got low was when I was playing Skylanders, so I'm guessing that it doesn't have the warning, and NSMBU does.

It couldn't wear out this soon, could it? It's been only 5 months since the console launched... Mine is constantly charging(which I know is bad, but I always end up using it then leaving it alone for a few days and it dies if I don't), and still works perfectly fine.
Most of the type of battery I've mentioned do wear out that sooner if you constantly use it then charging it without fully discharging the battery power (or at least 20% of what's left).
