Topic: Do buying download codes give you gold points?

So I was thinking of saving up money so I can buy a download code for the DLC for BOTW but I was wondering. Do buying the download code at a store like target or Walmart give you gold points? Or do you have to buy the DLC from the eshop to get the points?

I believe they give you the same amount of coins as a normal download would.

They few code-in-a-box games I bought all gave me full gold points on redemption.

@Greatluigi If you buy a physical game that's more than one year after it's release, you won't get gold points for it. I learned that with Spyro Trilogy(physical). So, if you buy a digital code for a game that's more than one year after release, I don't know if you'll get gold points for it? Unless someone else here knows.
