Topic: Can't Link Nintendo 3DS account to Switch

Hi guys,
I'm having trouble linking up my 3ds ID to the Switch so I can merge funds and rescue a game from the 3ds eshop before it closes. I had my Switch linked to my Wii U, so I hit the 'unlink button' on the MyNintendo website, thinking I could then just link up the 3ds one instead. But what's happened now is that both the website and the Switch can't seem to decide if I'm still linked to the Wii U or not. I have the 'merge funds' option on the eshop which tells me I can link an account. But when I put in my 3ds details, I'm left with an 'account already linked' sign, yet that surely should not be the case anymore, as they gave me the option to start afresh in the first place. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...

Should the email address of each be different or something? Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

@Kirbysonic Isn't this a matter of linking your 3ds to your nintendo account? Originally, 3ds's used Nintendo ID, but circa 2019 or 2020, a nintendo security upgrade was made, and I thought the Nintendo ID system was being terminated, and people had to link their 3ds to their Nintendo account if they wanted to continue using 3ds eshop. Forgive me if my understanding has gotten fuzzy over time.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. @Kirbysonic, hopefully someone else here knows it better than I. Does nintendo support UK still have a phone line? Ever since the pandemic, I'm not sure if the nintendo support UK phone line has resumed, or still exists. Post pandemic, I know the nintendo phone number was only revealed on the website AFTER you get to the email form for Nintendo support UK (it was at the bottom of the email form), which was a sneaky way of burying the number.

@WoomyNNYes hmm I hadn't heard of that before. I just know you have to connect the 3DS account to your MyNintendo thing via 'User Settings'. In fairness, I find it all a bit confusing- 'Nintendo ID', 'Nintendo Account' 'MyNintendo'- very easy for me to mix these up 😅

I've sent the UK support guys an email. They reckon I'm still linked up to the Wii U, so I have to give them my info (which is difficult to find as my Wii U likes to turn itself off after a certain amount of time and I currently can't afford repairs 😬). I will have a go, but I will see if I can find that number you mentioned. Maybe it's on their reply email to me. Thanks for messaging 😊
