Topic: 8bitdo Controller Adaptor Not Working Since Latest Switch Update

The latest Switch Update has stopped the adaptor working. 8bitdo are aware and working on a fix. Apparently if your controller is paired and connected with the adaptor you can search for a controller via the Switch menus to get it to recognise the controller again but you have to do it each time the console boots.

Check Reddit over last few days for a few threads on this.

When they do fix this, you will probably need to plug the adapter into a PC for an update.

My five 8BitDo’s (SN30 Pro x3, Pro 2, Ult) are all updated and were working fine a couple of days ago, but now my NS2 is just refusing point-ass-blank to recognise them. Not even when physically connected to the dock.

I’ve got a C-to-C cable somewhere, that’s my next step.

C-to-C USB cable located and tried - each controller shows the “Controller 1” light, but the console still refuses to see it.

Something is up.

…hold on…

I just tried taking the JoyCons off for a sec… and THEY’RE not being picked up either.

Tried rolling back one of my SN30s to v2.05 firmware, and it connected fine to my OG.

Re-updated to 2.06, and it still goes on the OG, but the NS2 still isn’t having it.

Feels more and more like a Nintendo-side thing to me, especially if its own Joycons aren’t picked up when detached.

Nailing this as a Their-End Thing now. Just found my PDP Afterglow and that’s not recognised either. OG still picks it up.

Either a firmware or hardware issue.

For someone who used to work tech support to forget Rule 1 - Turn It Off And On Again - I put this partially down to being in a rush to get to work yesterday.

A full shutdown and restart has sorted it.
