Title is pretty much self explanatory, Just picked up a 3ds XL for the first time, and a few games I've been wanting too play, the issue is I'm getting random lengths of gameplay (Usually 5-15 minutes) then both the screens with simultaneously go black, the blue LED power light will still be on for roughly 10- 15 seconds and then the entire system shuts down? I hope this is an easier fix! I do have my repair kit at the ready just in case though.

You might have a defective battery. Does your light icon blink red right before your screen goes black? I still have that issue on my 3DS XL, so it remains charged while I play (I’m too lazy to replace the battery).

Hopefully it’s something easier to resolve in your case, but would troubleshoot your battery’s state first and see if it’s possible to get a replacement should that be your problem. For now, play plugged in so you don’t lose data.

Yes system is fully charged, And No It does not flash red before dying, I was considering a battery situation. But just wanted too rule out any other possibilities that it could be?

Was the 3DSXL that you bought a previous used system or did you buy it new?

Previously used, looks in good quality cosmetic condition, just tried multiple game cartridges too see if cartridge was bad and still too no avail. Still shuts down.

I had a friend a few years back who had a very similar issue to the one you're describing right now. His one unfortunately only got worse over time, shutting down faster and faster as the months went on before he finally bit the bullet and bought a new one instead. My personal advice would be to go back to the store you bought it from and explain your issue with them (assuming you bought it from a used games store and not somewhere like eBay) and see what happens. If worst comes to worst and you have to get a new system, I'm pretty sure save data is saved on the game cartridge rather than the system itself so you could carry on like nothing happened!

I've heard of the loose video cable before? But I've tried the "Tap" method and moving it around. Sadly, it was an eBay buy so return isn't exactly possible.

Since you can't return it best thing is find some where that can fix it. In the US try seeing if there's a place called uBreakiFix near you. I know they do console repairs.
