Topic: 2DS hardware problem?

Hi

My daughter's 2DS XL powers on (blue light on) but nothing shows on either screen. If I let the power drain completely then the WiFi light and screens come on before for a short time before the unit powers off. The screen seems unresponsive with the blue select box moving diagonally by itself, also the red menu bar at the bottom is cycling through different options.

If I charge the unit then the system just reverts to black screen and blue light only.

I suspect this will be some hardware failure but if anyone has any suggestions or ideas of what the problem might be. Also the sort of cost I would looking at to get this fixed.

Thanks
Ian.

@Ian01 Did you search nintendo support? If you can't solve something with nintendo support troubleshooting, you can read between the lines and take that as a good indicator that repair is needed. I would search, blank screen blue power light.

The second and third result look relevant: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/list/st/...

If you need a place to repair it, retro game stores often have repair services, see if they have 3DS/2DS reairs. Or you can ask a local video game store if they do repairs or know somewhere that does.

I would contact Nintendo about a repair. If you are not comfortable doing that then as @WoomyNNYes suggested maybe a PC Repair shop or retro gaming shop. If you live in the US there is a place called uBreakiFix that offers video game console repair.

Thanks for the replies. As I had nothing to lose I let the system power totally drain again to see what would happen. On power up the system started up and touchscreen working OK. I have charged up the system and so far all seems working. I even managed to do a system update. No idea if it will fail again but so far so good. Very very odd!

Edit.. after working for most of the day the touch screen became unresponsive and powered off as before.
