Been lifelong Mario fan, so that's where my vote goes.... however, I must say that I have recently been playing a lot of Zelda games. I started with a link to the past, in preparation for ocarina coming out on 3ds. I had read so many reviews about ocarina, and the praise seemed impossible to live up to (best games ever made etc etc). But I played it, and do you know what? After ignoring Zelda for so long, I realised the error of my ways. What a game. It was incredible, the kind of game you cannot wait to get back to. And I was genuinely disappointed when it finished... I haven't felt that way about a game for a long, long time. I still hear the music as you enter Hyrule Field in my head, in nostalgic pangs. I have now completed Phantom Hourglass and am about to start the 6th dungeon on Links awakening, and I am now hooked on Link. But I grew up on Mario, and although I am taking a wonderful vacation in Hyrule, i know that the Mushroom Kingdom is home sweet home.
Even though I've had fun with some Zelda games, I've had even more fun with all the Mario games. And to tell you the truth, I actually prefer Sonic the Hedgehog over Zelda any day :3
