Topic: What's Your Philosophy On Game Completion?

Having fun comes first.

When I start a new game I intent on beating it but more often than not I drop the game halfway through. The longer the game, the more likely I'm going to move onto something else even if the game is great. Sometimes I need a break from a game and it's hard to come back, especially if it's an RPG.

I go for 100% from time to time. Usually for shorter games that left me wanting for more. Sometimes I do the extra stuff because I'm already so close that I might as well. Other times I want to test my skills and see if I can do it.

It's its, not it's.

I aim to roll credits on most games - I hardly ever put something down half-finished - but don’t aim for 100% completion. That said, I’m a pretty slow, painstaking player, and I’ll poke my nose into every corner and push every button, so if I find I’m near 100% by the time I get to the end, I may push for the last few things. But only if I can’t bear to put the game down.

Oh, and rolling credits means the main campaign, but if there’s chunky story after that, I wouldn’t consider the game finished till I’ve done that too (eg Dragon Quest VIII). I don’t bother with DLC, though - too many other things to play. The one exception may be The Witcher III - I’ll probably play Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine when the TV series comes back!

Just play the game until you don't enjoy it anymore. If that means you either don't see it through to the credits or 100% it, then who the f*** cares.

Why make it a chore? Totally defies logic to continue when there's no obligation to do so, and if you aren't enjoying yourself. Why also spend your spare time doing something you don't want to do? They don't hand out gold medals for completing games, either.

Life's too short to be spent wasting your free time on ***** you don't enjoy.

I play a game as much as I want. Almost full completion I did on the metroidvania Castlevania games and on couple of NES games.

It used to be that I'd finish every game I bought, even if I didn't like it. In recent years I've changed, though. If I wasted money on a game I don't like, that stinks, but I might as well move on rather than waste my time AND money.

Git gud!

I have to really dislike a game not to play it until I’ve seen the credits.

If I love a game I will sometimes 100% it, if this isn’t too grindy.

Most games I play til the credits.

they say that life’s a carousel, spinning fast you’ve got to ride it well. The world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams. It’s heaven and hell.

At least i finish the games until the credit roll. If the games can be played indefinitely after credit, i will try to accomplish some quests that gave me interesting reward. If not, i just let the games not being completed 100%

For open ending games like The Sims, Animal Crossing, Bokujou Monogatari, i will play them until i got bored.
