Topic: What is your Morning-Alarm & -Routine?

I used the "search" function with the keywords "morning", "alarm", "clock", "routine", and "wake up", and didn't find such thread. Just saying

So, I want to ask you: What music/sound/tune do you use as your alarm in the morning, and do you follow a personal morning routine?
After I have an absolute aversion of the preinstalled alarm tunes on smartphones I used a long time songs from my library to wake me up, but since months I'm using motivational speeches now for this. I have an album with 60 tracks, and switching between each speech at irregular intervals. After I got up, my routine is simple: 1. making bed, 2. doing a 40 minutes workout (20 minutes stretching exercises and 20 minutes main exercises).

So, what is yours?

That’s a good idea to switch between tracks. I used to use a particular song (from Stone Temple Pilots) to wake up and now I cannot stand hearing it and associate it with the pain of having to leave my warm, inviting bed Now I just use the regular iPhone alarm, though I shudder if someone in a meeting has that alarm tone ringing.

My routine is wake up, shower, brush teeth, head out the door and on my bike to work (work starts at 8am, how outrageous!). Breakfast and coffee as soon as I walk into the classroom, gotta have that daily caffeine fix!

I just use some sort of pre installed water sound as my alarm, as I figure if I ever try and sleep throygh it, it'll make me need a wee and wake me up that way, a two pronged assault.

In terms of my routine, it kinda ended up with Covid. Before Covid I worked in an office, so I would wake up, catch up on socials while eating my breakfast, maybe try and squeeze in some gaming or watching something, go to the gym, get ready at the gym and go to work.

But now since I wake up in my office, it is pretty difficult to motivate myself to do anything, because like before the gym was on the way to work, so I didn't feel like I was going out of my way to go there, but now it does as I could within theory get up like a minute before my shift starts and still be on time for work lol.

I do try my best to get up, have some breakfast, take a shower and clean my teeth etc so at least I have done something, but it can honestly be hard most days. I do also try and at least like go for a walk, or a run, or something but again, it is kinda hard not to give myself an excuse. Especially right now when it is so cold in the morning, and I got Covid as well recently, I just feel like I would rather spend another hour in my warm bed lol.

I'm such a light sleeper I just have my phone on vibrate and the sound of that is usually enough to wake me. I also have a LEGO Boba Fett alarm clock set a few minutes later just in case, but rarely need it.

Usually watch some YouTube and do the daily MS Rewards set while having breakfast, but nothing out of the ordinary in term of routine.

@Kintypoo121 For me it is important to switch anything at times -> Ringtones, Backgrounds, Notificationtones,... it's horrible to hear a song/ see a picture I loved before, but now is making me pissed. And I know what you mean when you use a common tune and hear it on someone others device, that's another reason why I avoid these ^^

@Pizzamorg That sounded like an awesome routine, Wake up -> Gym -> Work. What about doing a workout at home instead of the gym? That's what I do.

@dmcc0 Can you post a photo of your Boba Fett Clock?

@Helios26 I hate alarm beeps & sounds. They always startle too much. I tune my radio alarm to a radio band where there's just the static sound, "Sssshhhhh". I don't need a lot to wake me up. So, I don't need to set it loud. That's what I use for an alarm sound. For me, it's the best alarm sound, not jarring, but does the job.

I’ve been using the vibrate in my watch for the last couple years. At first wearing the watch to sleep really bothered me, but I ended up getting used to it quickly. No my alarm doesn’t beep and wake up anyone else in the house. Also easier on my own ears.

@Pirate1 I would have worries about breaking it by laying on it

It's always interesting to see how different people are even in small things like waking up. Thank you for your sharings so far

My alarm is set for a couple hours before I'm due to clock in at work. I'll spend an hour having coffee, playing games, or watching my assorted favorite content creators on YT before heading out to work. On weekends I usually sleep in a couple past that time. Breakfast is always the same; four eggs, half a dozen strips of bacon, and half a dozen sausage links.

I use a sunrise alarm clock where the light turns on really dim about 30 minutes from the set alarm, and gradually gets brighter (simulating sunrise of course) The sound is just some gentle chimes. I really like it. A big change I've been incorporating recently is to not check any local/national/international news (outside of weather/traffic) for at least 30-60 minutes after I wake up.

I snooze for as long as possible, then I have to force myself out of bed, take a shower, feed my cat and go to work.

This is a good point @Magician!

@All Is your wake up time/routine on weekend different or the same? In my case it is partly the same, alarm starts as always on 7:00 am, but doing the workout can be later, but until lunch. And I am not into breakfast privately, on vaccation though I am, maybe because it is included in the price ^^

I'm on the keto diet. High fat, moderate protein, and as near zero refined sugars as possible. I try to go with as low of a sugar intake as I can, but there're carbohydrates in most foods we eat, even vegetables. I live my life on butter, guacamole, tasty piggly wiggly bits, almonds, etc. But...the diet saved my life.

I'd probably be a diabetic now if I hadn't taken up the diet years ago.

@Magician I'm actually type 2 diabetic myself and eat low carb too - it's great 🐷 just not sure I could have that much in the morning though.

-Drink something, Coffee, Tea, Water, anything by 7:40
-Leave the house by or before 7:50 to catch the school bus
