I’ve been hopelessly playing Persona 5 Royal on switch since I got it on sale in December. Still going through my second playthrough, I just can’t put this game down it’s so good

Oh yeah, I’ve also been playing Persona 3 Reload on series s but I kind of suck at it lol, definitely a different experience compared to Portable

@DreamlandGem That's one of my favorite Kirby DS games of all. Plus, it does have a few difficult levels here and there. I do plan on buying it again but I'm going for a import version. Since Kirby games are very easy to play even if it's in japanese.

@DanijoEX-the-Pierrot That's what I've just done, picked up a copy in Japan I translated the cutscenes/tutorial with Google Translate camera lol, as you said the rest is easy regardless of language

I'm shocked at how good it is so far, feel like I don't see too many people talk about it

I'm playing Dragon Quest 3 for the GBC, and I'm a little worried about its length. I'm not the best at sticking with longer games, and I think the lighting and saving limitations of the GBA are getting to me. I loved the first and second, but a few substantial chunks of gameplay were really all that was necessary for those games, but here I'm kind of in it for the long haul. I enjoy the game when I play it, but I really don't want this game to stretch for months on end. (especially since I think Unicorn Overlord might hook me in and I don't really want to let DQ3 fall by the wayside)

Can I do a completionist run of video game history? (It's still being made so we'll see)
Currently Playing: Unicorn Overlord (Switch)
Next Up: Sand Land (PC)
Panic (Reality)

I am at the end of Resident Evil 3 Remake, I am playing it for a second time just to see if I was wrong about it being a butchered game. I was not, unfortunately

So much cut content even with ALL of the reused assets/whole areas from RE2R.

It could've been an amazing remake

@DreamlandGem Most of the time that anyone talks about the Kirby DS games, it's usually Kirby Canvas Curse or Super Star Ultra.

But Mass Attack is, hands down, my personal fave. Glad to see someone who loves it.

Been playing Splatoon 3's Side Order DLC and having a really good time with it.

@DreamlandGem Kirby Mass Attack is really good... glad you're enjoying it. Been a while since I last played it but I still have my copy.

As of today I've sunk 39 hours into Persona 3 Reload, I absolutely love it so far. Made it to mid-October and I've been constantly taken aback by how little the game sticks to the now-typical Persona formula of having a new teammate each month, at a constant pace. The game always throws little curveballs each time.

@NintendoByNature Is that boost across all the Pixel Remasters? I'd take advantage of it too lol. I'm not interested in the first three games but will definitely cop IV-VI at some point. Anything to save time as well lol.

@Tasuki Forehead smack Oof, I think you're right! I'd forgotten there were branching paths in the game. Maybe this is an indicator that I need to revisit the game sometime....I think it's been ~4 years since I last played.

@Tyranexx heck yeah it is. I did the same with IV. Used 2x boost up until the last boss when I was getting stomped. Turned it to 4x and I only had to grind for 30-45 min or so before I could beat him.

@Tasuki Sold! (On the ones I'm interested in anyway; I'm happy to skip II and III at least)

@NintendoByNature I've heard IV is tough but usually fair. Though I already have the DS version backlogged and will likely play that version first. At least the final boss is a challenge!

Mario VS Donkey Kong (Switch) - There's actually a lot more to this than I thought there'd be (& I'm not talking about the two new worlds). The NG+ versions of each world's levels are 100% distinct from the first run (completely new layouts with a new type of completion goal) instead of just being remixes with a few new hazards, so it really feels like it doubles the length of the game in terms of unique content (the boss levels seem to be the only ones that are just the same thing over again, just harder). Plus there are sets of expert levels that you unlock by completing a certain number of regular (& NG+) levels with perfect rankings. I have played the original on 3DS (it was one of the "Ambassador" games), but I don't remember it being so feature rich. Quite enjoying it.

Granblue Fantasy Relink (PS5) - Having a really solid time with this as well. The main story mode really didn't hit any new beats in terms of JRPG narrative & tropes, but it's executed immaculately (it feels like a much higher budget game than it probably is) and does a lot of things to mix up gameplay variety (battles that take place on the deck of your airship let you man the cannons & pick off enemies before they board, there's a boss battle that calls to mind the kind of scale you'd expect to see in Shadow of the Colossus, and even a boss fight akin to the Eikon fights in FFXIV), you can't wait to see what's going to happen next. Post game is very grindy (95% of it seems to consist of harder versions of boss fights, & you'll probably have/want to replay certain fights multiple times to get the upgrade materials needed to stay competitive as the recommended power level starts to shoot up dramatically once you hit extreme rank quests), but there are a few storyline loose ends that promise to be followed up on if you get so far into post game so I'm going to try & stick to it.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus - I reached the end credits, but now I'm busy dealing with the post-game story and requests. Not to mention I've decided to try to finish the Pokedex since it's possible to without trading. 119 Pokedex entries fully taken care of, which means...I have over half of them left. 45+ hours in, and I'm still having a ton of fun with this game.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey - I realized it had been almost two years since I played Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time and wanted to dive into my 3DS backlog again anyway. What better way than with a remake of what's arguably one of the best M&L games? I'm only about three hours into the main campaign so far and last saved on Plack Beach as Bowser. The plot is interesting if a bit predictable, but it's great to see Fawful back! I plan to try the Bowser Jr.'s Journey side mode next time.

Unicorn Overlord demo. Trying to get the perfect start save file. Plus it allows me to keep having hands on the gameplay systems.

Wanted to knock out something quick as a break between my runs of Side Order so I decided to continue my journey through Castlevania by starting up Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge for the first time.
Untitled
Castlevania: The Adventure is possibly my least favourite game of all time (so far anyway); it's an utterly joyless experience from start-to-finish with bland spritework, dodgy gameplay and some of the most BS level design in the entire series. Why am I bringing this up? Because its sequel is my 2nd favourite entry in the series so far (at least for right now).

I cannot believe I'm saying this after the misery that was the previous game but no: Belmont's Revenge isn't just good, it's genuinely great! It truly feels like they looked at every little thing people complained about with The Adventure and decided to polish it to a sheen: levels are much better designed on both a visual and mechanical basis (with branching paths at that!!!), the game feels great to control thanks to improvements made to the performance, moveset and, perhaps most importantly, rope-climbing and the music (which was the best part of the first game and even then it wasn't that good) is right up there with its home console brethren as some of the best on 8-bit hardware (New Messiah especially is one of the best first level themes in the series).

Castlevania III is definitely still my favourite Castlevania game out of the ones I've played so far but I'll be damned: they actually managed to make Castlevania on Game Boy work XD
