Topic: Venture Bros. season four discussion

Hey folks. I remember a few of you said you were fans of The Venture Bros., so I figured I'd start a thread (likely to be SPOILER HEAVY) where we could gush about how totally awesome the fourth season is, like, seriously.

Here's the commercial advertising the first ep of the season. Mild spoilers there (to be honest, I wish I hadn't watched it!) so view at your own risk.

I hear Brock and Helper are going to die this season

Is this a new season? I stopped watching a couple of months ago.

Yep. Assassins are after Brock and Helper gets interrogated by the Monarch. Pure awesome!

Season three was good...but not nearly as good as two was, so I felt a little disappointed. (A few brilliant eps, though.) Season four has every chance of being the best season yet so...my fingers/feathers are crossed.

I'm curious with how it's going to turn out for Sgt. Hatred. Poor bastard. Regarding Season four, as long as it features more Dr. Orpheus it will be golden in my book.

I actually thought season 3 was better than 2, but just a matter of opinion.

A friend of mine was at the VB panel at DragonCon, Fox, and it sounds like we will indeed be getting more Orpheus. That's definitely good news. Also, I love Sgt Hatred. It's a shame he was only in a few season three eps.

That's part of my problem with season three, I think. They set up many interesting things to work with, but not all of them went somewhere. Hatred immediately became one of my favorite characters...and then sat on a shelf until the finale. Season two had a stronger narrative thrust with the Monarch/Dr. Girlfriend thing...but, as you say, that's just opinion. It's not like season three was bad...it was still great, however you slice it.

I second the more Pete and Billy statement 100%. They just don't get enough airtime.
I might as well pop this up here as well, although its pretty old so I'm sure most have seen it by now.

What channel does this show come on? I've never heard of it before.

Is it perchance available during the Adult Swim hours at Cartoon Network? If that's the case, I don't really watch the Venture Bros., on account that either it's very late or I'm just not interested.

It's on the Cartoon Networks Adult Swim block. The new season starts on the 18th, so those interested should check it out.

First episode of the new season tonight at midnight! I'm stoked, even though I won't get to see it until sometime after work tomorrow. >:^[

Did anyone else watch it? I have to admit, I was not expecting anything like that.

It was actually quite beautiful...in a bizarre, meandering sort of way.

I thought it was pretty good, although I agree that it wasn't quite what I expected either.
Still, an episode that found new purpose for Sgt Hatred is alright by me.

Oh yeah. The scene with him asking Hank to shoot him was such a perfect moment...and I actually felt bad for him when he was tied up in the lab... :/

I definitely need to watch it again to get the chronology straight, but it had a handful of really affecting moments, and I love that The Venture Bros. bothers with the heartfelt stuff in a way that so few shows on Adult Swim do. Hank's goodbye to Brock was particularly sweet.

There were parts that were genuinely touching (21 saying he'd raise 24 as his own son, and definitely the Hank/Brock goodbye), and then there were parts that had me laughing (that painting, for one), but i need to re-watch Season 3 and then that episode a couple times so i can get the chronology straight.

I totally have to admit that I was not expecting how the situation with Brock and Hunter ended, though. that was one heck of a revelation, and the crotch-grab had me loling for serious. :3

Finally got to see Sunday night's episode.

So Hatred is no longer a pedophile...guess somebody had to step in and take over?

Very funny episode. Probably one of the funniest. (Though, I admit, I'm still a little giggly and immature when it comes to that kind of comedy...) Not as good as last week's, but I do appreciate the light-hearted breather.
