I hate the idea of putting shooter and soccer in video games all the time.
Why make Splatoon 3 instead of ARMS 2 ?
Why make Mario Strikers instead of Mario Boxing ?
Why put Soccer on Nintendo Switch Sports but No Boxing ?
Just enough already.

I think Zelda is kinda overrated, I think Nintendo needs to bring back Miis some more and i DESPISE people who even mention “switch pro.”
Unless i actually know the rest of your personality of course.

Splatoon doesn’t need two games on switch, and Metroid dread is overrated.

@blindsquarel I kinda agree with Splatoon. Splatoon 3 really just looks like Splatoon 2, aside from having a new singleplayer mode, some new weapons, a few new maps, and updated mechanics for Salmon Run. Most of which could've been just added in a free update for Splatoon 2.

I don't agree. With very few exceptions, I don't like when games just go on forever, when you could make a new game. And since the only way they'd be able to get away with 6 years (taking into account the year+ of free updates Splatoon 3 will inevitably get) would've been making a lot of paid multiplayer updates, presumably...yeah just putting out a sequel is better.

That being said, I was far more interested in the game based on the first teaser rather than everything that's trying to make it more like the other Splatoon games. I actually like the Splatoon lore but if 3 just puts all these interesting, darker elements they've hinted at for this game as lore instead of actual new story and gameplay, I'd be disappointed.

@kkslider5552000 I just think two games on the same system is a little much, but we haven't seen all it has to offer, so I could be getting ahead of myself.

Because people like those series just as much as you like series like arms.

So people are complaining about how they don't like games where they keep giving updates to them are now complaining Splatoon 3 should just be an update to 2. ;p

It's a bit early to write off Splatoon 3 as the same as 2 isn't it? We've barely seen anything of it to judge that yet and Nintendo like to keep some of it's cards close to their chest so they can build hype closer to the release.

@Rexenoboy I think it's more of a critics versus consumers thing like the critics cared more about graphics than the general consumer.

Eh, I just personally don't understand why it's a whole new game, when they haven't shown much to make it worth being a new game entirely. Other than that though, I'm not going to go "Why did they do this, and not make a new game in ____ series!!!", because that's extremely petty. Like, I remember watching an Arlo video on the newest direct, and he kinda got that way about Xenoblade 3. Saying why they couldn't make other games, and why Nintendo constantly made Xeno games, despite the series selling low.

I'm happy for Splatoon fans, while I personally just don't understand myself why it's a full-blown new game.

At this point I don't think anyone really knows why Splatoon 3 is a new game given that the only concrete info they've shown is a handful of new weapons, stages and Salmon Run features. I'm assuming the game's main selling points will be become clearer in time, and I'm hoping that initial trailer was hinting at a more substantial story mode this time around.

@WaveBoy Oh yeah, they aren't the same style at all. I caught flack for saying this in a server I was in, but it's just awful looking in comparison to Mario Kart 8's base game. It looks textureless and the geography isn't as complex looking as the geography in the main game.

My thoughts are that Nintendo wanted to port maps from Tour without remaking them to fit the style of 8, and then wanted to take the newly remastered maps that aren't in Tour and port them, so they made them all fit a style that doesn't go well for the actual game they're making these for.

@VoidofLight They could pull a 'gameplay not final' on us, though I highly doubt it.

@VoidofLight As much as I hate to say it, its true, the stages just don't look all that great, and maybe its just because they used early footage, as nintendo has done that more then once for whatever reason. Lets just hope.

@Snatcher Eh, the first pack comes out next month, and they only showed footage of that, so I'm unsure if much will really change.
