@Tounushi I grew up with the PSone and Gameboy, and I remember it being quite the annoyance back then tbh.
Although there is a big difference between how I play games now and then. As an adult I'm certainly less patient, as not only do I have less time, but I have access to a lot more games - many of which are less frustrating than older games. I also aim to complete more games as an adult.
As a kid I'd definitely take more time to solve the problems - but in many instances they would go unsolved. There are so many games I played as a kid that I got maybe a few hours into before getting stuck, and I'd just continue to play those same opening hours until I got bored of the game. Not ideal really.

That covers more than half of my NES and a few pieces of my SNES libraries. I had to clear them through emulation/NSO with rewind and save states to make any reasonably timely headway. Mighty Max was obscure beyond measure in terms of progression and the rest were simply either HARD and/or I forgot to write down the level passwords. I spent most of the past two summers clearing my NES, SNES and N64 backlogs that way. I still haven't tackled Talespin because that's part of the Disney Afternoon collection.
Faxanadu, Return of the Joker, Journey to Silius, Adventures in the Magic Kingdom, Talespin, Tom & Jerry, Robocop, Pocky and Rocky, Mighty Max, Jurassic Park, Road Runner, Arcade's Revenge, Jurassic Park II, Turn n' Burn... So many games that go beyond not holding your hand and are downright malicious gauntlets either through using no save files or having unforgiving timers.
It's simply too much these days to clear in one sitting. Hook, Disney's Magical Quest, Rescue Rangers, Lylat Wars, Probotector, etc. are a joy to plough through in one sitting because they're realistic in being beaten in one go.
@Tounushi Rewind is a godsend tbh, to the point that I don't think I'd have the patience with many games without it. I'm so happy Nintendo have embraced it with most of their NSO emulators.
@Buizel I beat Super Mario in 12 minutes and Journey to Silius over three lunch breaks with rewind. Even Altered Beast took me less than 45min to beat with quicksaves on the Mega Drive collection.
@JadeKitsune I get this is the unpopular opinions thread, but... HOW DARE YOU!? DO YOU KNOW WHAT HE SACRIFICED? DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND HOW IMPORTANT HE IS TO THE MARIO LORE, AND TO OUR WORLD AT LARGE? He is the very essence of society itself! Everything that came into existence wouldn't be here if it weren't for Waluigi! He was the sole reason as for why Miyamoto himself was born into the world! Without him, we wouldn't have anything to eat, let alone anything to drink! He is a god-like being, and you dare downplay him by saying you don't care for him? What is this heresy?!
I don't care for Waluigi either.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Colonel_Mustache I tried it a few times during that game trial from a couple years ago. Kept getting killed, apparently no matter which role I take, either as a human or alien, I always get voted out first.
I mention "Among Us" because I posted that drawing I made to celebrate Metroid Fusion being added on the Switch's GBA library, but because I didn't develop my drawing skills in the decades after middle school (no thanks to my parents and teachers forbidding me from doodling in class whenever I get bored, and that my art teacher wanted me to draw more realistically than fantastically), Samus's helmet looks too much like one of the AU characters, and when someone said that she's "sus" and "among us", I just... lost it. Boiled over.
Not only do I like the art style of Return to Monkey Island, I think it's the best looking game in the series since Monkey Island 2. Yes, TWO. I know, shocker.
I can't stand the floatiness of how Samus controls in the older Metroid games up to Fusion. I'm aware there's a ton of people who do like it but especially after playing Fusion for the first time last week, having each jump feel like it takes an eternity to complete compared to the snappiness of Fusion's movement has only exacerbated the issue and my stance on it in my mind. It's the main reason why I can't wait to get into Fusion (and am also praying for Zero Mission to come over to NSO at some point as well)....and why I'm so apprehensive towards touching the previous 3.

Super Mario Land (1989) is better than Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (1992) because it has just smaller enough sprites that you can actually see the entire screen and is so much shorter to finish that it doesn't become time consuming.
@Fizza
Super Metroid (1994) has the worst controls of the first three because changing direction when moving (turning around) takes a couple of frames, unlike the first two where you could change direction when moving (turn around) instantly, making them super finicky.
Someone was probably having too much fun in the graphics department...
@TheBigBlue I think people say that just because of similar they are moveset wise, however! I’m happy we got byleth even tho a lot of people were mad about that!
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

This is correct. It's really easy for me to go back to Mario Land 1, I've never had much interest in replaying Mario Land 2 (though to be fair, I've also not played Mario World in 20 years either, for some reason).
