Yeah, if the DS sales are any indication, Golden Sun has lost it's fanbase that I know it had. Which is a shame as it's a favorite of mine.
Super Paper Mario too. I mean, it has more flaws then the other two games but the creativity of a game, of a Mario sequel is just wonderful. Writing's great too, funniest game Nintendo's ever made.
Earthbound and Mother 3. I honestly think Earthbound would be the one big exception to how internet popularity doesn't = real life popularity. The fanbase is too big at this point.
That being said, I say this way too much but no example in this thread is comparable to 3rd party games released on Nintendo systems in the past few years. Even controversial and disappointing sales games like Other M for example, still have a TON more fans then No More Heroes, and that's including the HD rerelease.

Hey, Drill Dozer comes close. Most still don't know that game and it sold horribly. Amazon still hasn't completely offed its stock of new copies after almost 7 years.
Anyways: Chibi-Robo, while not unknown, I don't feel got what it deserved. It was a quirky, really unique game that took the emphisis off killing things and still managed to be enjoyable. In fact, I probably would've liked it more without those little robots showing up that you had to kill halfway through. We seriously need more quirky adventure games that focus on helping people. We really do.

For GameCube, I'd say the entire 3rd party library was pretty underrated. Most of the games didn't sell particularly well, just like every other post-SNES Nintendo console, but this idea that's developed over the years that the Cube didn't have quality/notable 3rd party support is a myth.
Kirby's Return to Dreamland, the best Kirby game since Super Star.
Agreed. I had a lot of fun with this game but no one else I know seems to like it. I like it much more than Epic Yarn. I played that for a day or two and its been shelved ever since.
F-Zero GX
You own it to your man-hood to play it.
I don't understand the hate for this game, was it too hard for you baby gamers? Well too bad!.
Nintendo need to make more games like F-Zero, you guys have grown soft.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...

Well...most of the good 3rd party games I remember were multi-console, popular or otherwise. Games that launched on Nintendo consoles exclusively on GCN were pretty rare and the only ones that were really well liked were the Super Monkey Ball games and Viewtiful Joe. Now, those didn't sell a ton of copies but Super Monkey Ball is still around and Capcom was trying to make Viewtiful Joe a major series for a while, so both must have done fairly well all things considered. Also, the GCN has almost certainly been well liked by everyone since the Wii era started. That's how these things work, any Zelda fan can tell you this.
Mickeymac brought up two great examples though. Drill Dozer and Chibi Robo were great, but I think those could have sold surprisingly ok if they were released 2 years earlier, but we will never know now.
Wrecking Crew is fun but I dunno. It probably sold well at the time at least, and I'm pretty sure Lode Runner did a similar game except larger and probably better.
Seconded! The soundtrack kicks and it´s just so fun smashing things! Spike is one cool antagonist too, I want him for the next Nintendo sportsgame...

I dont think wrecking crew is really that good to be honest. It's alright - but the game is too strict in where you can go with the enemies following you and just doesnt end up feeling like a worthwhile game. Overrated to be honest.
Really? Often when I listen to music from the game on youtube, there will be people calling it the best RPG ever or even the best game ever which it is nowhere near. While it had excellent dungeon design and the battle system was great, the characters lacked depth and aside from the awful Infinite space, it had the least interesting story out of all the JRPGs I've played even if I still enjoyed it.
I agree with you on Wrecking crew though, that game is rubbish.

Anyway, I think Super paper Mario is extremely underrated. If people look past their disappointment that its not like the first two, then maybe they'll see how great a game it really is. It has the best story in a Mario RPG and aside from a few levels (2-3) the levels were well designed and a joy to play.
There are also two underrated Wario platrformers. Firstly, there's Wario land: The shake dimension which may get a good amount of praise but its often overlooked in favour of other 2D Wii platformers like NSMBW, the Kirby games, DKCR and Rayman origins despite how amazing it is with its gorgeous graphics and inventive gamplay. I think its one of the best platformers ever! The second one is Wario: Master of disguise which isn't anywhere near as good as the former but isn't the disaster people would have you believe it is. Its still a good game even if it isn't up to the standard you'd normally expect for Wario games.
Yes, but it's been so long since I've seen anyone talk about it. It's one I'd really like to play someday, along with UFO: A Day in the Life and L.O.L.: Lack of Love. I just found out Moon has a fan translation that's almost done, too.
