Topic: Ubisoft hostage situation

It’s mental what is happening at the Montreal studio right now. I hope everyone gets out okay!

I wasn't even aware this was happening. Looks like the building also houses other businesses, so perhaps it doesnt directly involve Ubisoft. Whatever the case, let's hope things are resolved peacefully.

@Losermagnet pinch of salt but apparently Ubisoft got a threatening call before hand so if that is true it looks like Ubisoft are the targets.

I guess they can't get ahold of Sam Fisher right now.

Says there's a group of suspects. But also that they've evacuated most people, including those barricaded on the roof. So it's unclear where things stand right now.

Well now. I wasn't expecting a hostage situation thread at all today. That's unusual.

Hopefully they'll all be ok and the situation will be controlled peacefully.

Been reported to be a hoax by CBC now.

Apparently Ubisoft got phoned and threatened that something was going to happen. Not sure whether Ubisoft themselves or the individual made the 911 call, but either way, there was no-one in the building when police searched it.

Guess that's a good end to the story then!

Why are there pictures of a group of people barricading themselves on the roof of the building?

That seems a weird response to a mere phone call.

@Eel It's 2020, you should be expecting only the worse news possible at this point.

@Xeno_Aura apparently it's because the hoax calls where coming from within the building is what led to it.
