Will there, is there, could there be any hope to see the Ninja Turtle games on Switch? Turtles in Time as an example. There are so many great arcade games I would hope to see brought to the switch. I have only recently purchased one about a year ago, and I cannot stop the love for these older arcade games. Now add the remaster editions and I am in love for life. Streets of Rage was and a great fricken game. Love the remaster even more! Please keep em coming! And a big thank you to the developers and people with these skills. Thank you, buying a Switch help remind me why I loved video games.

@Dmackaroni I've wanted the 1990's Turtles arcade games, too. I was going to say that I think licensing might keep it from coming to the Switch, but as I type, I just realized those 1UP arcade cabinets just put out Turtles in Time recently. So, I don't know what to think.

@Dmackaroni Probably not due to licensing. You have to make a deal with Konami, Nickelodeon Nintendo, and I think it's either Ubisoft or Activision for the SNES version of Turtles in Time. Even if they all agree it would probably be at least $60 to cover everyone's fee and then people.would cry that that's too much for a SNES game.

@Tasuki Couldn't you make the same argument against the 1UP arcade cabinets? 1UP arcade just put out those TMNT cabinets recently. So that has me wondering.

@WoomyNNYes Not exactly. First off for the Arcade version they would need Konami, and Nickelodeon only. The reason you would need Nintendo is because the SNES version wasn't a straight port of the Arcade game it was designed for use with the SNES a big example is the Mode 7 and the Shredder battle in the Technodrome. There also was a few changes to bosses and some other differences. And then you would need whoever has the current rights to home console TMNT games which I am not sure who it is at the moment but I believe it's either Ubisoft or Activision. As a result of would probably be a much higher prices game then people are willing to pay. For example remember back to the TMNT NES game on Wii Virtual Console it was more then your traditional NES game.

Now when it come to the 1up Cabinets it's an arcade cabinet of the Arcade game. Nintendo didn't have anything to do with it, and it's not for any home console (Xbox, PS, Nintendo etc.) So really it's just dealing with Konami (cause of the engine and game design itself) and Nickelodeon (The current rights to everything from the 1989 Turtles on ward). So even if they have to charge alot due to right it's an arcade cabinet for $300 which is a steal compared to the actual arcade.

Mostly what @Tasuki said. It's such a licensing nightmare. Even if Konami wanted to do it, they have to get Nickelodeon/Viacom on board for it, and they also need the current licensee to agree to either just let them do it, or co-release it. Ubisofts hold on the license ended when Viacom bought out the TMNT rights. The last TMNT game released on console (not including their guest appearances in a couple other games) was published by Activision, though whether they still have the rights or not, I don't know.
Nintendo doesn't need to be involved though. Just because the game had alterations that used the capabilities of the SNES, exclusive to it at the time, and had exclusive characters in it doesn't mean Nintendo had anything to do with it nor have any say in its release. They didn't have anything to do with producing, development or publishing and therefore have no say in it. I don't even think Nintendo had an 'exclusivity' deal for the game, it's just the one the SNES got, while the Genesis got Hyperstone Heist.
If Nintendo had this kind of control over 3rd party SNES games being re-released, even ones that used the SNES mode 7, games like Contra 3, Castlevania IV and many others would never see the light of day on PS4.

@Cotillion It wasn't an exclusivity deal so to speak but Nintendo used strong arm tactics on third parties, and since at the time the SNES was so successful it meant more money for 3rd parties if they put there stuff on Nintendo products only. It's why for example SNES got Turtles in Time, Castlevania IV and Contra III while the Genesis got Hyperstone Heist, Bloodlines (New Generation) and Hard Corps from Konami. And Mega Man the Wily Wars was only a download from the Sega Channel why Aladdin was not only a different game but a different studio and Genesis got the Special Championship version of Street Fighter II.

It was merely a case of not biting the hand that feeds you for alot of these third parties.

@Dmackaroni

You've got the Turtles in that Nikelodeon Kart Racers game.

That's probably as close as you'll get.

@Tasuki Thank you for the insight to how this would work. SO I wonder if both places were approached, they could manifest some type of agreement? I know myself would purchase these crossovers plus any additional new developed Turtle games. They are pretty iconic to let money sit there. Gamer's have made Nintendo what it is for all these years. But I honestly think the Switch has made the some of the best games accessible and hope they continue. From what I can see, even these newer retro developed games are still as enjoyable as the ones that came out in the late 80's and early 90's. These guys have way more tech, but the love for 8bit, 16bit 24bit games is still very attractive. I guess I will continue to find forums and other places to build a coalition of Turtle Power... Haha, thank you guys for sharing this wonderful info!

@WoomyNNYes Bro that is a great start! I hope it trickles hard with cash flow that sparks a fire into getting the TMNT games back in the hands of their fans! There has to be way! Keeping the the hope high my fellow TMNT dudes and dudettes.

@Tasuki Yes, that's what it was, but the point remains that Nintendo has zero say in whether or not the TMNT games are offered for sale now. They weren't involved in their production at all and have no legal say in it whatsoever.
