I don't know, Ring Fit does have RPG elements to it and is more of a game than an exercise tool like Wii Fit was but it's so out there doing it's own thing it's not a example I'd ever use of what I'd call a JRPG if I was trying to explain it to someone.
I only included games that I've already finished (maybe I'll include FF VI or XII when I beat them):
1. Chrono Trigger
2. Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
3. Final Fantasy Tactics
4. Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver
5. Fire Emblem Awakening
@jump Honestly for some reason I find my lists change all the time in regards to both games and movies
Like for example just for my favorite games of all time I find that even though DMC3 is in my top 3 I often find myself switching it between either my favorite game of all time or my second or third favorite either due to faulty memory or genuinely just being indecsive
Like Suikoden is like a top 10 game easily but for top 5 I find more often than not it's a mix of games I just hold in really high regard or have immense nostalgia for
Suikoden is like one of my favorite non-Square RPG franchises but I just don't have the emotional attachment to those games as I do the ones I find I often place on the top 5 so I thought I should just narrow it down to the games that really resonated with me or communicated the kinds of franchises or games in the genre I was into
Waaaaay back in 2003 or whenever it came out. My middle school crew was all about it’s multiplayer! Creating new character subclasses (hammerdins) and playing in “hardcore” mode trying to “PK”.
@I-U Fantastic profile picture by the way. And it was made by Nintendo but it's not a JRPG.
Thank you. I'll be honest, I put in Ring Fit Adventure after seeing the discussion on the main page about whether Zelda is or isn't a RPG. I saw enough saying that it is to want to throw Ring Fit Adventure into my Top 5 for this topic. I can make the case for the game as a JRPG, but I know Ring Fit Adventure is a fitness game before anything else. As a more serious answer, I would probably say my current #5 is Magical Starsign.
@I-U I wanted to go into more detail, because I haven't played Ring Fit, but I was busy at the time, so my bad if I came off definitive or authoritarian!
It is an RPG for sure but the hallmarks of a traditional JRPG (combat, turn based or real-time, lots of voice acting, bombastic memorable music, cool characters and at least one fan-service element) are absent.

The only hallmark it is missing from that bunch is lots of dialogue. Ring Fit does have turn-based combat, and the rest are subjective. Its weakest area of the remaining three are the characters from what I've played so far.

@I-U If I’m being honest I may want to get Ring Fit. I work out by swimming four times a week and once a week training at the gym, but I also play video games, so having Ring Fit would complement my routine perfectly. Based off some gameplay the incentive looks really strong. And besides who wouldn’t want to play a fitness game by Nintendo?

If you're looking for a fitness game or enjoy motion control gaming in general, Ring Fit Adventure is definitely one of the best options and is a very involved game. I'm into motion gaming and would like to move around more since the pandemic has made me want to go out less, so when I had a chance to get Ring Fit I made the purchase. Ring Fit, compared to what I experienced with Wii Fit, does a great job of making the player feel like they are playing a game while still having the player work through the various reps and exercises. It's more involved while not giving the impression of the tedium of general exercise if that makes sense. Each time I do a stage in the game, I'm usually impressed how they interpreted various reps into interactions within the game's world.

5) Ys VIII
4) Dragon Quest XI
3) Xenoblade Chronicles 2
2) Fire Emblem: Three Houses
1) Xenoblade Chronicles
I'm waiting eagerly for SMT 3: Nocturne and SMT 5 to drop. I was also considering picking up Persona 4 on steam possibly. Never played an SMT or Persona game before.
1) Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (but I'm not one of the people mad about what Paper Mario is now, I actually liked the most recent two well enough)
2) Pokémon HeartGold (a lot of Pokémon games could go here, but this was my favourite gen remade beautifully on the system that, for my money, held the gold standard for Pokémon games)
3) Xenoblade Chronicles uh... all of them (I love all of them for very different reasons, so picking one is impossible. Torna's a smaller spin-off but it might actually be my favourite thing Monolithsoft has ever done)
4) Persona 5 Royale (pretty much loved everything about this one. P4G might tie with it)
5) Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness (the best one)
Honorable mentions to Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest IX, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, and a bunch of others that aren't immediately coming to mind. I haven't traditionally been a big JRPG player but I'm trying to get into more of them lately.
