My latest one was Zelda Ocarina of Time on the GC. I was playing for awhile when the 3DS version came out cause it put me in the mood to play it. Got really far into it too I'd say to the water temple but after taking a break from it for a few months I totally forgot other than the water temple what I was doing. I thought maybe if I looked at my items and that it might jog my memory but nothing. Hopefully I will remember one of these days either that or I will just start over.
That JUST happened TO ME. I'm stuck in the water temple now because I forgot where I was, it stinks.

I must be the only person to not find the water temple to be hard.. I seriously beat it in about 2 hours after first entering it. I thought the forest temple was more difficult..
I got stuck in La Mulana to where I was walking around aimlessly for several hours. I eventually cracked and checked a guide for it, but to admit defeat really killed the experience for me and I don't have any desire to finish the game now.
lol! i hate that and then when you realize you have more attacks and such makes you feel like a idiot xD
but wow i had so many but i agree the tittle is kinda miss leading but i usually had problems with the old games like n64 and gamecube less of the new games it also happen to me in zelda ocarina of time besides the water temple
also happen to me in majoras mask i got to the 3rd day and im like wth am i suppose to do now the moon is about to crash o.o

One of the last few stages in Ghost Trick had me held up for around 3 weeks.. I REFUSED to use a guide, and when I finally Figured it out, I felt like such an idiot...
I got stuck on the Moon in MM the 21st for 7 HOURS!, and then saw there was a HUGE crack in the wall and they gave me Bombchus. I was grounded for swearing.
I sometimes get it when playing through an old game again for the second time because I'm assuming I know what to do based on a hazy and cobbled-together memory rather than from actually paying attention or going with your natural intuition. I played Ocarina of Time again for the first time in about 10 years and I got completely stuck on one of the simple puzzles in the first dungeon. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working, until I realized I was basing it on a memory that was wrong and was making it more complicated than it actually was.
I just remembered, the current game I'm stuck on is Minish Cap. I've done everything(to my knowledge) except get like 3 Kinstones and 2 Heart pieces(actually, I think the 2 heart pieces have to do with getting all the Kinstones and beating every challenge that girl with the cucoos gives me) but I have no idea where the last 3 people are I need to fuse Kinstones pieces with are, and it's REALLY annoying!

My thoughts are that any game where this is a problem hasn't been designed well enough.

Just because you get stuck doesn't mean it's ill-designed. It just means you have to actually use your brain for the puzzle. It also means you should have payed attention in school.
