Topic: Those friends of yours that only play FPS games and nothing else....

I never got any flak for liking Nintendo/Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy in high school.

There were a small group of people who liked those same things, so I'd talk Nintendo/Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy with them.

As for everyone else? I happen to like COD too, so I didn't mind just talking COD with them (or other series they might be receptive of, like Ace Combat).

Also, I was too much of a rule follower to bring my systems to school, so I never had to deal with those kinds of situations. Also, somehow a really nerdy kid (brought classic GB to school, wore Pokémon shirts, ect) was really close friends with some of the football players, so everyone was more receptive in general.

EDIT: also, one of our basketball players, had a DS and regularly played Pokémon Diamond (and was also an admitted InuYasha fan).

I get harassed constantly because I only play nintendo... A year ago this dumb girl even tried stealing a GBC I brought to school to try to make me stop... Let's say she was knocked out after I found out.

I guess things weren't so bad at my school. Sure there were the COD fanboys (btw I don't hate COD), but quite a few people liked Nintendo, even quite a few athletes like them. I guess people weren't as judgemental at my school..

I have a friend who used to only play FPS's, but he has now realized that that was stupid and plays plenty of other stuff now, too.

The moral of this thread and the majority of comments therein: Children are stupid.

That's a little harsh. I prefer the word ignorant. But really, they're likely raised in a horrible environment

I figure there's nothing wrong with only liking CoD, or only liking anything for that matter. People should play whichever videogames they happen to enjoy the most

My school is extremely judgemental. In fact, if someone even know I was a member of this site, I think that would be the end of my social life!

Oh, and this thread could not be more relevant to me! I just wish people could see the light and see that COD isn't the only game out there!
I don't have a problem with other shooters, but I hate COD with a passion!
If you like COD I respect that, but if you like nothing else, that's when I have a problem!
I know I may have some bias here, but I personally think that people should experience more than COD in gaming. There's so much more to this culture (or industry, whatever you like to call it).

As I explained in my post, my high school was pretty much exactly the same.

Middle school on the other hand, that's a different story... (although it still wasn't too hard to find a group of likeminded individuals).

One thing about middle school I found odd was, the was this guy who kept defending EVERYTHING Microsoft did, and he hated how I preferred apple and Nintendo over them, saying these 2 just plain $@&! But in high school he was always on his iPhone playing cut the rope and other 5sec time wasters

i think ppl just go with what is rly popular since COD(or insert game here) is the big thing everyone is going to try it and say thats the best game and blah blah and if your not one of those that play it thats when they look at you and wonder wth is wrong with your or if you been living under a rock x_x same with app games like angry birds and such

to me what annoys me is when someone bugs you over and over to play this game thats so popular or cant seem to shut up about it -.- but other then that i never rly had a problem in my school with games in fact we would take our gamecube and play in class when we had a sub or the last days xD or playing pokemon during class

I got a friend that only plays COD like for hours to no end, and if I go to his house thats the only thing he'll want to play, if I bring any other game like a wrestling game or an amazing game like red dead redemption he'll just fall asleep or leave the room.

People just like those games I guess, by observing how he plays it I think it's because of the socializing in the game and the constant competitiveness. Like facebook with guns or a gambling game. But I just can't see the fun.

I like first person shooters like Bioshock, Skyrim, Farcry 3, Fallout 3 hell even Killzone and Resistance I even like to play online like Gears of War Street Fighter 4 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. But when it' just an endless loop of the same thing over and over and over I just lose interest in like the fifth game in with these games.

Sadly most people at my school dont even play FPS's or LoL they only play Subway Surfer or Angy Birds

I know people who only play FPS, and honestly its their choice what kind of games they play. It's only annoying when such people talk badly of any game that isn't an FPS when they refuse to play any of them in the first place - it's just ignorance, and it's a stereotype that sadly has some truth. There are people out there who only play FPS that are accepting of other games, but don't play themselves - it's just too bad these people are given a bad impression by the others.

My school is
40% those who only play iOS games.
10%- those who don't game
49%- those who only play COD
1%- those who still play Nintendo or play multiple genree

I mostly collect SEGA games as part of my collection of SEGA stuff. I do consider myself a retro gamer and enjoy playing old games whether they are arcade or arcade to console ports. As for modern games, not a lot. I just buy SEGA games and keep for good until I die. I will forever hate Call of Duty today. My little brother whos 12 plays the game and his friends do the same. When I watch him play, they will always be a notification saying "Gamertag is playing Call of Duty Black Ops II" everytime. One of his friends actually came down to my house while I was playing my arcade machine and I was playing 'The Simpsons Arcade Game' and said "That game looks ****" it goes to show you how kids disrespect old games and care about their own. I do not own Call of Duty and I wont eitheir. Welcome to the bad present of gaming.

Those friends who give an effs about what other people are playing.

If they enjoy FPS, then whose to say you're not the one ticking them off.
