Topic: The NintendoLife VGM Tournament: Best City / Urban Theme (Round Two)

Been nice to see FFXV doing so well, especially compared to other square enix/soft games not in the bracket. The fact that no song from Chrono Cross or Kingdom Hearts got in is a bit depressing.

The lucky winners this time are Tekken 2 with the tiebreaker at 3-3, WarioWare at 3-2, and both Final Fantasy XV songs at 4-1 and 3-2 respectively.

I haven't mentioned this yet but that Harvest Moon song somehow sounds like DS Pokemon and an SNES game at the exact same time.

The final battle of the summer themes.

Interestingly both songs are fairly similar.

They are pretty similar, I hadn't noticed that before listening to them consecutively now. Bubblaine is my favourite though.

As we approach the last days of summer I also thought I’d share this bonus song from Sonic Lost World that slipped my mind before.

I think before the summer song tangent, people were talking about boss themes.

Boss themes would be pretty cool, stuff like Chrono Trigger, Mario Galaxy and Lufia 2 have amazing ones.

I still vote to do either final boss themes, or all boss themes except final boss themes.

In that case it would be nice to start with the lesser boss themes.

Can we do first boss themes? (like themes only for that first boss.)

Are there many games that have unique music for the first boss?

A bunch. A hat in time, Paper Mario 64, Metroid Fusion, Sonic Heroes, Viewtiful Joe games, gunstar heroes. Giving away more would be giving stuff away.

Boss themes is a good idea and I agree that Final Boss themes should be excluded. As far as doing only first boss themes, I’m not sure how many games I can think of that would have songs to fit the category but if other people can then it’s fine with me.

Off the top of my head I can't think of any unique first boss themes either.

I think it would be easier to just do normal boss themes (final bosses excluded). If everyone is fine with that then we can start choosing songs.
