So the GTA6 reveal is on December 5th, not at the Game Awards which opens up the potential for announcements. So I'm back to leaning towards Nintendo's announcement presence being Metroid focused:
Prime 2+3 HD (physical release in February 2024, digital either same day as physical or shadow drop)
Prime 4 teaser with some kind of 2024 release date or window
Revealing when Splatoon 3 FrostyFest is. Also have a Side Order trailer but only if the DLC is released on February 29th (if it releases on May 31st then it is saved for the next Direct)
NSO announcement but 3rd party focused - I think Jet Force Gemini was probably saved for December to be part of a larger Microsoft NSO batch
@Grumblevolcano
Thanks for the reminder, and really interesting how this process has played out!
Notable absences include Mario Wonder, Alan Wake 2, Resi4, Starfield, FF16, SF6, AC6 etc...
Nice to see Phantom Liberty on the list, and reaffirms how well that expansion landed with audiences. Surprised to see Genshin... purely because of age, but I guess people are still playing? (I have no experience, only know it has been out a few years)
I voted for Baldurs, but have a funny feeling that Phantom Liberty might get this one!
@Grumblevolcano why is genshin impact in the list again ðŸ˜
Pretty much inactive

Currently Playing: Suprisingly, nothing.
A bit of a tough choice between Zelda & Spider-Man 2, but my Nintendo-bias won out in the end, lol.
Too bad both Super Mario Bros Wonder & Final Fantasy XVI were knocked out in the first round (I honestly would have voted FFXVI if it had stuck around).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@Grumblevolcano Thank you for reminding us; it's appreciated. I definitely would have forgotten.
@CJD87 tons of people still play Genshin and it gets huge updates. I hope it doesn't win player's choice but it is also nominated more deservedly in the 'best ongoing game' category and it was nominated in 'best mobile' for 2 or 3 years (though this year a different game from the same company was nominated instead). Apparently it is at it's most popular ever this year: "As of November 2023, over 63 million players are playing Genshin Impact monthly."
My favorites are long gone from the list, but I'm voting for TotK because I'm a Nintendo snob.
Edit: Anyone else have trouble voting? It does literally nothing when I press the button. I had no issue voting previous rounds.
@Grumblevolcano I hope we get more Mario.... (bias mario fan here)
In reality anything Nintendo would be cool and i wouldnt mind a Switch 2 tease or something! (not gonna happen)
Space and Games are similar. Space is endless and new stuff is out there waiting to be discovered. Games are always being made but the creativity is different from one game to another and so many more ideas still haven't been imagined or created yet. (That came out better than expected lol)
I mean... The GTA 6 trailer had impressive character art, but otherwise kinda looked like a trailer for a semi generic movie. Maybe the game awards will say something more interesting about the game?
Woww, GTA 6 has a healthy dose of Florida's crazier side in there. I don't think I'm into it. Although, to be fair, I guess I'm not into the GTA formula these days. ...Good looking environment in the trailer.
@WoomyNNYes : I prefer the twerk-free, smartphone-free Vice City of the "80s".
From a purely superficial point of view, it looks fantastic, but I have a feeling I'm going to absolutely hate the characters/story. They've hardly even said anything in the trailer and the dialogue is already cringey as hell.

I'm definitely not slagging Genshin, as I understand it attracts a fairly wide audience - and certainly seems to have 'legs' considering the breadth of its fanbase.... I just had no idea it was still very much part of the conversation!
Be interesting to see what clinches it, my money is definitely on CP:PL I think (despite my vote going to Baldurs)
I quite like how they include expansions/DLC in this Players Choice award
After seeing the Universal DK expansion video and that it opens in Spring 2024, I think Nintendo may announce DKC Returns for Switch at the Game Awards. It would line up exactly 10 years after Reggie wore a Metroid pin to VGX 2013 (VGX was the name of Geoff's event back then) and announced Cranky Kong for Tropical Freeze.

Totally understandable — there are too many games and it's hard to keep track of them all. Honestly I had the exact same reaction seeing Cyberpunk on the list - in my brain, it's still the over-hyped 2020 game that disappointed everyone by being released as a technical mess. I've vaguely noticed it in the news occasionally, but I had no idea it was so relevant to appear in the game awards.
It's interesting how many categories expansions/DLC can end up in. Given that, I'm a little sad MK8 didn't end up in 'best racing game' category, especially since some of the games in that category reviewed kinda poorly.
