@D-Star92 Hello! Yes, the controls in Acecraft are simple and they do remind me a bit of Super Mario Run’s controls now that you mentioned it. It did take me a while to play PaRappa, but I found the first game pretty fun but also extremely hilarious and charming, but I did suck at playing it a bit and struggled a lot in the last level. I’ll have to get back to playing the games because I was playing the Lammy spin-off last month and got onto the 5th level (which I think is 1-2 levels away from finishing the game) but dropped it, because I’ve been playing my Vocaloid rhythm game haha.
Yeah, was trying to draw last night but I realized my pencil pressure is pretty bad lol, gonna have to practice that at some point, especially since hard pencil pressure can damage good paper. I have drawn for a while but I’ve always have had poor control over pencil pressure, but maybe it’s because of the lead size or how I always covered the rough sketch with markers and pencils and didn’t have to worry too much about the visibility of the graphite. I already feel like choosing a different art style using lots of color and outlines, so the pencil lines can’t be visible when I outline and color it.
The original version of Mario Kart? That was a decade ago, time flies! I haven’t visited Nintendo NY but i can’t imagine how fun it is buying merchandise and playing games there with others.
I usually prefer shorter games that I can complete in maybe a few days or ones that don’t have completion times because I also don’t have time for longer games, realistically it would take me months to complete a long one probably. Ah, I see, so the Xenoblade games are fun but sometimes a bit long and difficult to play? Didn’t know since I haven’t played the series before. I’m also not good at knowing what to use or equip in some games, kind of reminds me of when I used to play Genshin Impact, not an RPG but it’s a big game and I didn’t know what characters or weapons to use until I realized later that I needed a bunch of other stronger characters and items from the gacha, which was annoying, because I only got one character out of it. I’m surprised you didn’t like Brothership a lot, it seemed like something you’d like! But I have heard people who play RPGs say that it sometimes feels like they drag on.
To add to my gacha annoyances, I kind of can’t stand mobile games that require you to use the gacha mechanics a ton or buy microtransactions to get items or characters so you can better at the game instead of being on equal footing with paying players as a no paying player. I used to play a HTF mobile game called Deadeye Derby that was pretty fun and addictive for a few months, but I got increasingly ticked off at how the game kept matching me up with players who finished the game and got all the slingshot and vehicle upgrades (the stronger ones likely through microtransactions), and I found it super stupid how the game makes you pay a high amount of diamonds for the remaining 2-3 vehicle upgrades, as it requires either a lot of grinding or paying money to get it. The game does not have a level system or matchmaking system that pairs you with players that have similar upgrades as you or are on the same level, so I’d get paired up with players stronger than me and it would be unfun. Dropped it at the third boss because it is almost near impossible to beat him with my upgrades, and after seeing footage of the final boss rapidly shooting with a slingshot and having a bunch of gimmicks…yeah, I don’t think I’ll play the game again for a while.
You’re welcome, I really enjoyed PD last year, but I do know how weird the controls could be on the original N64 controls. I remember playing the Zero prequel and the game controls were already set to the original PD controls, so it felt weird to control and I had to change to the modern control scheme.
A random thought that I had, has anyone used watercolor before? I've been thinking of trying it out sometime, I like how watercolor pictures look and I'm thinking of getting a set for it.
@Pastellioli That game does look challenging for me as well, from the gameplay I've seen of it. I think the closest game I played to it was Rhythm Heaven for the Wii and 3DS. It's been ages since I last played them though.
Yeah definitely, the paper would just rip where you're drawing if you draw too hard. Having a different art style isn't a bad idea I think. We all draw differently after all.
Time indeed does fly. And now a decade later, we have Mario Kart World! If you enjoy Nintendo's games, Nintendo NY is definitely worth visiting, likewise with the newly-opened San Francisco one. Wouldn't mind visiting the SF one as well, if I do get a chance to visit the area of course. I'd like to visit Super Nintendo World one day too, though that would depend on how much I can handle its rides. I unfortunately had a traumatic experience from going on a roller coaster when I was little... and to this day, I'm still scared of them.
Yeah, as I get older, I've been preferring games that are shorter as well, or at least games that have fairly good pacing. I do like the exploration and battles of the Xenoblade games, though yeah, they can be real tough at points. Yeah, I wanted to like Brothership, but I just didn't like it as much as I wanted to... and I'm a huge Mario fan. Most of the Mario games that I've played, I do love or at least like.
Ah really... that sounds like it's one of those pay-to-win games. I can't stand when they do stuff like that. It's just so greedy. I also don't like when they make games that you'd buy, then finding out that it has microtransactions. Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is a good example of that. I think it's a good game for sure, but putting microtransactions into the game after launch was such a terrible move. I don't like being negative, but it's just something I can't be positive about. What a greedy move that they made! All right... I'm gonna have to stop before I have a meltdown.
I'll let you know what I think of Perfect Dark when I do try it out. Does it control similarly to GoldenEye? Because I did play that on Nintendo Classics a while back. I would imagine so since both games were developed by Rare themselves.

@D-Star92 I use watercolor but rarely, here are some results of mine. Not the best but somehow ok I need to practice. To be honest Gouache and Alcohol markers are easier than watercolor
@CaleBoi25 Oh I'm glad to hear you love it! Can it be combined with my drawing pencils? Like if I could do the line drawings, then use watercolor to color my drawings in.
@Zuljaras Nice watercolor pieces, thank you for showing us. Yeah, the little I've tried of watercolor, I did struggle a bit. Thanks for telling me about the easier alternatives, too.
