@Princess_Lilly The only prominent criticism I saw with Ultimate was the game having poor online play, and I definitely agree with that after experiencing it…it’s so weird they didn’t try to fix the internet even after all those updates, but also disappointing. It’s baffling that one player disconnecting ends the entire match, even if the rest of the players have a good connection.

What is obakeidoro?

@Sunsy You're very welcome. Trolls Fun Fair Surprise does sound like it's a fun watch, I'll be sure to see it sometime. Lol, you and me both, I'm the same way with my current profile picture! I've been thinking mine would be good for spring as well, since it's me wearing my floral train conductor outfit in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. You can see flowers over there too, and even one on my hat. Poppy and I would be best friends, haha! Thanks for the heads up on Trolls Band Together.

I don't think I've played Sega Superstars Tennis, I think I've seen some footage of it and it does look like a good game for sure. I've also played Mario Power Tennis for the GameCube, that one is also a good game. Still have my GameCube copy. Actually I still have a lot of the GameCube games I've had since my childhood. Been a long time since I played them... hopefully they all still work. That's cool, I do like having background noise as well, especially while I'm sleeping. Been a while since I had ambiance on... I've been getting stressed for a fair while, but I'm getting in a better mood so I wanna put some YouTube ambiance on tonight.

Yeah definitely, there would also be a ton of internet traffic, so updating/downloading during launch or the holidays would be problematic. Me too, my family and I would play a ton of bowling on Wii Sports back in the day... I even liked Mario Party 8. Loved Super Mario Galaxy as well, got that for Christmas all those years back, and it's still one of my favorite Mario games. Aw, sorry to hear about your elderly neighbor, may she rest in peace.

Yeah, I've heard that too... and I'm the same way as well. Yeah exactly, plus the game is a $20 increase from what we've been used to on the Switch. Ah yeah, I did hear about the next Grand Theft Auto game potentially being $100... that is ridiculous! It does make me glad I'm not into GTA at all, lol. I can't blame you on the game key cards, and I did hear that Sonic X Shadow Generations for the Switch 2 comes in one. I saw a video from Good Vibes Gaming saying that Sega isn't doing any upgrade packs for their Switch 1 games, you'd have to buy the Switch 2 versions at full price, and since they're game key cards, you'd have to wait for them to download after taking them home. That's just silly, and yeah... it isn't very consumer-friendly. Would've been so much better if they were... you know... actual game cards with the full games stuffed inside.

Oh that's cool. We did have a custom-built PC as well, about a decade and a half ago I wanna say, though I don't think it was built for gaming. Just for regular family use. It bit the dust a few years ago, however. That's cool you're saving up for your next laptop, I have a newer PC of my own now, which is built for games, and it's been serving me well.

I've actually looked up a video of the Kirby Air Ride LAN gameplay and saw it, which is right here.

OK, I'll go ahead and quote my post from the movie thread...

MarioVillager92 wrote:

My post is a couple weeks late, but on Valentine's Day, I got to see Lady and the Tramp. The 1955 original, and I watched it on my blu-ray copy. It was the perfect day to watch it... especially since I like classic Disney movies. I think it's a nice, cute movie. Like with all the other Disney classics, the animation and art style are lovely, and I also like the old-timey town that this movie takes place in. Some scenes were really sweet, too. The ending was especially heartwarming, with everyone all together during the next Christmas... plus Lady's puppies were adorable!
I enjoyed it, and I'm glad I got to see this one. This was one of the Disney films that my family just didn't have back in the day, and I didn't have a lot of exposure to it as a kid. I do remember a couple of the songs from one of Disney's sing-along tapes, however.

And nice, those Disney Doorables sound cute. Cool you got Lady out of that. She's a good girl for sure, haha.

@Pastellioli it sounds like a horrible mess. Good thing I never tried it so it didn't ruin my image of the game. I did try to play online in Smash 4 though and I still think it's a perfect game despite its non working online so I guess it doesn't matter all that much (I mean I even got a disconnect penalty but that was because of a ragequit, I was a different person back then lol).

Obakeidoro, or jail or bail, is kinda like tag and hide and seek. One player plays as a monster, 3 others as humans, and humans have to hold out for a couple of minutes before the monster catches them. They can also bail their teammates out of the cage. Its fun

@Pastellioli Yeah. There's no way to backtrack and get your level up either. That's a Fire Emblem thing though, soooo, yeah. You've always had to pick units you want to invest in, and leave others behind.

Yeah, the OG FE Warriors did not have a cohesive tie to the OG titles like HW did. I remember the Fates chapters. The point of those was mediating the two sides, sorta similar to the original game, but without a jerk possessed king to get in your way. And with the hatred between the two sides drastically toned down.

Yeah, since your reply, my friend has been rebanned. Reasons unknown, Sony's just being a jerk at this point. He has to start his games all over again, yet again.

Same two games here. Lots of confusion everywhere, and uncertainty. I couldn't help but notice, Nintendo already had their pricing decided, but chose to cite the tariffs anyway. A scum move imo, but one everyone finds popular. And NSO going up really would just be free money for them.

Yeah. That's why I never got into Splatoon. It was next to impossible to have a single, simple match.
Smash actually functioned better for me, but still relatively close. I wanna play with others, but it's near impossible.

Yeah. I actually got chewed out a couple nights ago for my reactions to issues with communication. DMs with friends are stacking up high. Nobody wants to communicate using anything other than silence, the caveat being, that's what I'm worst with. Basically, I can sense something's wrong, and my typical reaction is to fly into an anxious panic that escalates the longer it goes. Many people write me off out of convenience, and as someone who started being socially aware only around when he was an adult, I get heavily punished for each mistake I make. It's unbearable, and I'd love it if others understood.

@Princess_Lilly It really sucked when I found Ultimate’s online was messy, mainly since I wanted to try playing with other players for the first time in a while, but it especially stunk a whole lot finding out that the matches end if one player has bad internet connection, and it’s maybe the first time I’ve heard of a game doing that when one player has awful connection. Yeah, after that experience online I’m pretty much not going to attempt online Smash again…I still think Ultimate is good but the online play is not it.

Haven’t heard of that! That sounds interesting.

@Mariotag Definitely, I don’t recall which units I focused on in FE Warriors, but I remember I focused on Shez, Hilda, Claude, Byleth and another character alongside those four. But, I should have tried to level the rest of the characters up, though I find it hard to make sure all units are all at the same level as each other because of the requirements to get them to higher levels. It’s also like that in Heroes. I have more characters that are at their max level, but my team focuses on Dimitri, Yuri, Fjorm, and I’m sure Ratatoskr or Nifl, albeit it’s been a while since I had Nifl on my main team.

Honestly, the characters they selected for FE Warriors kind of seemed really unrelated to each other and also, if it makes sense, kind of from different time periods, though I think it’s mainly from the Fates characters being themed after feudal Japan and the rest being more European medieval themed. The only characters I think had more of a relation to each other was Marth and some of the Awakening characters, mainly because Marth is an ancestor of Lucina and Chrom and in Warriors, I remember Lucina is introduced masquerading as Marth like she does in Awakening. I don’t know, a lot of the characters they chose for FE Warriors kind of didn’t mesh with each other in my opinion, and sorta seemed like random picks, alongside the exclusion of certain characters as well.

That’s strange. It honestly seems like Sony is doing it on purpose…what’s with companies being so bad at DRM management?

It’s strange that communication has been so bad that it’s causing so much confusion over the console. I’m already seeing plenty of confusion with the game key card releases on here, and it’s the most confusion I’ve seen for a console lately.

Honestly, Splatoon has had an issue with online play ever since the first game, where it was especially prominent there, though it was one of Nintendo’s first attempts at an online shooter. One common issue was people playing Ranked and their teammates disconnecting, and your rank would go down anyway while the disconnecting player got no consequences. Luckily they were aware of the issue and dealt with it in the second and third game, where your rank would stay the same despite a player or two disconnecting, and similarly in 3, if a player on any side disconnects the second the match starts, the match ends in a draw because of the teams being imbalanced. I do like how they dealt with disconnecting players later on, though the online play in 2 was still off and still kind of was in 3. I still recall playing a Ranked match in 2 and everyone (save for me, a teammate and a single enemy) disconnected simultaneously, and it was clearly a WiFi issue with the game’s servers. It’s strange I found Smash was the one that had worse internet compared to Splatoon…probably because Smash’s performance becomes a slideshow when the online gets laggy, where in Splatoon you can kind of move around even when it lags.

Sorry about that. I hope you have been doing fine. I do also get a bit worried and anxious if I sense something is wrong with someone, or maybe if I did something wrong and I think it’ll have a bad affect on something that’s bound to happen later on. I can’t take my mind off of bad stuff that’s going to possibly happen, such as someone going to chew me out later on for something I did that might have bothered them. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s unintentionally upsetting someone and getting them angry.

@Pastellioli In response to your comment about Smash online, yeah. I was actually removed from the list of ppl a certain prior friend would play with cause he knows my internet sucks. And it isn't the only thing the game did that bothered me. Cause Events and Adventure mode were merged to create an unholy mess. All-Star Mode became a multi-man, understandably. I just had less I could do.

I was already spoiled on your spoiler previously. It's similar to most mainline FE games. Your resources are limited, and no matter what, you progress. In spite of what FE Engage apparently expected you to pull off, you cannot actually keep all your units high enough to participate. FEH differs in that you can actually grind characters up, and with powerscaling, are continuously rewarded for doing so.

OG FE Warriors actually had the story's main FE characters pulled from the same timeline.
FE Fates had too much stuck in its DLC, but one such aspect is that Three of the Nohr retainers are actually child units directly from Awakening, albeit with different identities, and powers granted to them by the good half of Anankos, the main antagonist. They traveled dimensions to fulfill his wish of watching over Corrin. And they got Lillth to help, as Corrin's half sister. The characters were kinda random, yeah. They didn't really add much besides, oh, a new story arc. There were other DLC characters from other timelines though. Lyn, and, I think Celica? The antagonists never being playable was bizarre.

Sony sucks at this point, along with DRM. I've actually decided to email them to find out what to tell my friend, seeing as with a bit of research, I actually know more about his ban reason than he was told. (It's called a chargeback. You buy something, but the payment is cancelled. So you owe them a debt and can't use anything until it's repaid in full. Except, he was hacked, and the hacker bought the stuff. Can't refund it cause digital, so it's his problem...)

I was confused on Keycard releases too. I thought at least some of the game was there, but no...

I never got into Splatoon partly cause of that. And a disconnect could result in a ban, which is further incentive for me not to try.

I effectively started being able to notice stuff outside my perspective more broadly, sometime between 17 years old, and 21 years old. And my first experiences with ppl not explicitly family, or agreeable, were on skype, and 2015 miiverse. Naturally, with roughly 11 years of experience, I struggle greatly.
I don't notice signs I'm bothering others most of the time. But when I notice, I fly into an anxious panic that steadily grows. For me, communicating with words instead of silence feels like the best way. But others don't do that. I'm struggling with older friends who just don't respond no matter what, or who react in more extreme ways. it keeps me anxious, on edge, and distrusting. I do not know how to recognize what's going on in time, or what I need to do. One friend in particular, went from us making plans to get together that didn't work out, to me being ghosted for almost four months. When he finally started responding again, elsewhere of course, I saw he made a pubic comment about feeling lonely, and wanting to go to a con, so I replied saying we could get together and was promptly blocked. All I found out afterwards from a mutual friend was that I "creeped him out". Does not make sense, and I've been trying to find answers with this being 16 months in.

Anyway, bunch of the way through non-updated OG Dark Souls. My first encounter with curse status. Yay.

@Mariotag Smash online is maybe the only time where I’ve actually had a bad experience playing a Nintendo game online. Unfortunate about the friend group, sorry. It’s insane how Smash ends an online match for EVERYONE if one person has bad internet, or if the game lags on one person’s end. It should have done what Splatoon did with internet, where the match still goes on even when one person disconnects, instead of just punishing everyone involved in the match by ending the game.

Honestly, the unbalanced spirit battles were another thing that bothered me, on top of All-Star Smash not being like how it was in Smash 4. I encountered so many infuriating battles in World of Light, and it’s only when you get a lot of good spirits that the battles become easier to win, but it requires putting lots of time into the game and coming across good spirits by random chance. I only just started realizing that spirit battles are mediocre (in my opinion) but even when I was playing Ultimate almost daily and enjoying it, I hated certain spirit battles anyway. The Boss, Pauline, and almost every 3-4 star spirit battles being the worst offenders in terms of being unbalanced for the player.

So I see, FE Warriors didn’t have a lot going on for its pre-existing characters in terms of story. I can’t even remember a lot of it, besides when the protagonists got separated from their mother and Darios dying and falling into a purple space looking hole if I remember. I do recall none of the antagonists being playable and it was only the protagonists that could be used. Strange, given Hyrule Warriors let you play as antagonists like Ganondorf and Cia.

The banning came from charging and a payment error? That sounds awful, on top of him getting hacked when he was trying to fix it. I wonder how a chargeback like that even happens? I haven’t heard of that happening before. At least the hacker can’t use the stuff though, but it still sucks anyway that he lost his account on top of being console banned.

Yeah the bans in Splatoon are pretty terrible. I have been banned from playing online for a few minutes because of that issue, and the game just assumes your WiFi is awful (I can partially remember that from a message you get in 2 when your banned from playing online and try to play a match anyway). Something like that similarly happened when I was playing Overwatch back in December…that game arguably has worse internet than Splatoon. Online play is risky, because there is a half chance the game servers will work, but another half chance they’ll not and you’ll get banned from playing online because it thinks you intentionally disconnected. The only online game I’ve played lately that I think doesn’t have awful online servers is Marvel Rivals, on top of being extremely fun.

I’m really bad at reading the room and always wanting to say stuff instead of being quiet. Sometimes I think I should get what’s on my mind off my chest, but sometimes it’s random comments that turn out to annoy people or make them upset. It also includes random comments, and I keep thinking that everyone should know how I feel. I did used to be a more silent and quieter person, mainly because I was pretty antisocial and wanted to be alone, so I didn’t really like interacting with others or going out, but now I’m regretting it so much…mainly because I’m extremely nervous and can’t hold normal conversations with others without feeling awkward. I’m more chatty now, but it still sucks I feel awkward talking to others. I also didn’t want friends at first because I was worried about things like friends turning on me or being backstabbers but it turns out I was way too paranoid and it was just me overthinking it. Sorry about your friends…it must feel strange and worrying not knowing how certain people in your life act toward you and not having a true answer for it.

@Pastellioli maybe it's just the fighting game problem, I never played any other via the internet because it kinda defeats the purpose in games like Tekken, which is super technical, and 1 frame can make a difference. I mean the same goes for Ultimate, but I just so wanted to play it more and more and I had over 130 hours in Smash 4 so I pretty much did everything my skill level allowed me to.

It is fun, I hope they gain more traction with the audience. There are some games like that, games that I hope are more popular, but I think most gamers just want smooth, instantly rewarding gameplay, instead of finding worth in slightly gritty, unpolished diamonds that shine brilliantly nevertheless. There was a game like that, Giraffe and Annika, and it really shows how limited is but there is so much personality and effort put into it, I cannot not defend it. Do you have any games like that?

@Princess_Lilly Smash is actually the only fighting game I have played online, I haven’t played more technical fighting game online mainly because I didn’t want to, but I think playing a fighting game online would be extremely hard, also given the terrible WiFi experience I had with Smash. I did pour more time into Ultimate than in Smash 4, so I did want to do way more stuff as well, including nearly 100% the game, but I’m still missing certain spirits that don’t show up from the bad RNG when spirit hunting and I’m not sure how to get to full 100% on WOL despite getting all of the fighters and getting all three endings. I still think Ultimate is fun and better than 4, but my main issues are the bad online, lackluster story mode that doesn’t feel like a story mode, and the way Spirit battles were executed.

I do play less popular and less mainstream games, yes! I tend to enjoy those types of games a lot more than most popular games or newer releases. I have been playing a kind of more niche shoot em’ up on my console and it’s hard but fun anyway, and I also tend to like playing certain games on harder difficulty levels. It’s a more popular game, but I really like playing Project Sekai/Colorful Stage on higher difficulty levels. It’s a challenge to sometimes hit all the notes perfectly, but also so fun to do, especially since you get more rewards if you do well.

@Pastellioli Me too and that's cool, I do love a good sleeping session as well. Been listening to some vintage swing jazz music and that got me in a great mood. Currently listening to a livestream of oldies music to help me relax. (It's from the YouTube channel Cozy Vintage - I highly recommend it!) That's cool, I remember folks like Nostalgia Critic who would review bad movies and stuff like that.

Me too, that would make it a lot more consumer-friendly to have "complete" versions of free-to-play games that have their servers shut down. I'm so glad Nintendo did that with Pocket Camp. I don't play a lot of mobile games, but it's definitely my favorite one. Hopefully they'll follow suit with their other games for the sake of those who like them. Ouch, Kingdom Hearts Union X got shut down without an offline version?

Oh that's cool, I remember seeing that Gold Mario icon. I wonder if the Switch 2 will have these kinds of icons as well? I'd imagine later down the road there would be icons for say, Mario Kart World, and you'd need a Switch 2 to collect them.

Nice, I've not played the Disney Infinity games. I do have Disney Dreamlight Valley, and I do like it, but I haven't played too much of it. I should change that sometime, if I can't get any more new bugs for my museum in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I could revisit Dreamlight Valley and see what more stuff I can do. Besides the museum donating and the DLC, I kinda ran out of steam for New Horizons, admittedly. I'm all ready for a new Animal Crossing game, once I get a Switch 2 that is.

Gotcha, I'd imagine 3DS chargers aren't too hard to find. I've never played Yo-kai Watch, you like it quite a bit huh? Isn't it sort of like Pokemon? I've given some of my 3DS games multiple playthroughs too, I've played through Super Mario 3D Land and A Link Between Worlds on a few occasions. I'm even giving Kirby Triple Deluxe a second playthrough. I'm gonna be honest... the 3DS is such a good system. I don't remember what my most played 3DS game was, but I definitely played New Leaf a lot when I first got it.

That definitely would've been cool for Mario Kart World to have a full-fledged adventure mode. It is cool that the free roam mode has some incentive to explore around, but I kinda want to see how much of that incentive will be. Yeah, I'm wondering if Diddy Kong Racing will make it or not. Oh gotcha, that was pretty much why, huh? That kind of explains why there wasn't a Banjo-Kazooie game for the GameCube or Xbox.

I'm definitely keeping an eye on Bananza. Though, I do have a bit of concern for the game. It seems to focus more on destroying things and digging through environments, and I'm a little worried that you'd have to rapidly tap any of the punch buttons to keep digging. Maybe it's not as bad. That's a shame you came across that spoiler, sorry to hear. Bananza does look like it was made by the same people who made Odyssey, and yes, I'm definitely looking forward to see what the next Mario platformer will be like.

@MarioVillager92 Napping and sleeping in general is one of life’s greatest blessings lol. I did see what you were listening to on the music thread! That’s cool. For me, I have been trying to listen to other songs, mostly pop music and a few Japanese songs I haven’t heard in a while…I do feel like my music taste is limited, but also because I’m sorta picky haha. When it comes to bad movie reviews, I honestly like watching them from anyone. They are always so funny to watch and hear with the commentary especially.

Pocket Camp was decent when I played it, besides the Leaf Tickets and the microtransactions. It did make me happy they went the “keep it online” route for Pocket Camp even when it shut down. Union X did get an offline version, but it’s more like a cutscene viewer now, and I found out it was delisted back in August. When the game went offline, there was no more gameplay, jewels or medals, and all you could really do was customize your avatar and watch cutscenes from the game, and I unfortunately didn’t finish the game in time prior to the shutdown because I got stuck on a level. There was another part of it called Dark Road, which was the only part of the game that had gameplay, but it really wasn’t all that fun compared to Union X. After they removed gameplay from Union X and all the cool medals I earned, I just deleted it, not to mention the whole joining groups aspect (which was the main part of the game) was completely gone too. Funnily enough, Union X was the one KH game I poured a lot of time into, though I don’t really care about my progress being gone. If I did spend actual money on it, then I would be more disappointed about it.

I am wondering if they will make certain icon elements on Switch 2 exclusive, also given that certain apps and features like GameCube games and the rewind feature for N64 games is going to be exclusive to the Switch 2. I do expect that a bit, though probably for games that can only be played on Switch 2.

I heard lots of good stuff about Disney Dreamlight Valley (plus I saw it on the Google trending board a lot of times) but I haven’t played it at all. I had a lot of stuff to do in New Horizons but I didn’t put in much time or effort into it compared to New Leaf, but I’m assuming it’s probably because I was used to having a lot of stuff in New Leaf, like furniture, clothes, having an almost complete collection of creatures, a big house, etc. It does feel strange when putting a lot of progress into a game and then having to do it again when you get onto the next game. I am wondering what they’ll do for the next Animal Crossing game, and when the next game will release. I’d assume maybe in a few years?

I do a lot! I remember watching the anime and playing the first two entries, but I never played the third game or any of its spin-offs. It is a bit similar to Pokémon, though it doesn’t feel like a close copy or rip-off of it. When the game came to America it was called a Pokémon rip-off, but I recall reading that they were inspired by Doraemon when making Yo-kai Watch. The game does have plenty of different creatures with different tribes, the yokai can be encountered out in certain areas and the yokai can evolve into new forms, though Yo-kai Watch has more juvenile humor (on top of the yokai having personalities and being able to speak) and the yokai attack automatically instead of you commanding them, so it is like Pokémon, but also feels a bit more like Doraemon with the humor and some of the plots. I haven’t really done multiple playthrough of some 3DS games besides my failed second playthrough of Yo-Kai Watch 2. I tend to not really replay games, usually they are a one and done thing and I move onto the next. The only game I did replay in recent times was Conker, albeit only because I was in an Xbox games club, and if I’m being honest I think that game is super janky and has some terrible gameplay thanks to the game being old.

I rarely see racing games with story modes besides DKR. Yeah, Rare is kind of well known for not really making sequels or prequels to their games and turning them into big franchises. Usually if they made a game, it was a one and done thing, maybe it got a sequel, prequel, spin-off or a related entry if some sort and it was left alone after that. It explains why a lot of their old IPs died off fairly quickly and why reboots of their retro games are being done by different studios, though the staff changes throughout the years probably had something to do with it too.

I don’t really mind the punching gameplay and digging aspect, but I would like to see more platforming and exploring too, which the game looks like it’ll be full of. The gameplay with some of the collectible items sort of reminded me of a collectathon without being an actual collectathon, so seeing that made me more excited a bit. I am hoping it’ll get good reviews once it comes out, especially since it’s significantly different gameplay-wise from most of the previous games. Yeah, it sucked a bit, though I think if information on what the character does in the story leaked instead than that would stink even more, but I definitely have to be careful with spoilers for that. It is fun to think about what the next entry might be like.
