@MarioVillager92 I did, played the new My Little Pony game I got, got some Trolls stuff, and ordered some pizza (ngl, Domino's stuffed crust was really good). Quiet, but nice birthday.
I feel the same. In terms of sports, I'm starting to like hockey thanks to a friend, but I also like wrestling, albeit that's more entertainment than sport. Outside that, I'm not big on them. No don't worry, it's just airplane sounds when it's flying in the air. Yeah, it's been awhile since I've put on RailCowGirl.
Yeah, it's a lot and the last two consoles I did get were on my birthday (Switch and Wii U), I prefer it then instead of Christmas. No people rushing the servers to set up their consoles, lol. I'm just not thrilled over the $80 games. Again I really feel it's going to influence the rest of the game industry to make gaming more expensive. Right now, I want to focus on saving up to upgrade my PC. I've been using my gaming laptop since 2019, I think I should upgrade in a few years. Still love that PC and played some great games on it. I'm sure Mario Kart World will be a good game, all the Mario Kart games usually are.
I did the same, YouTube had me curious on how it worked. It would be cool if Nintendo incorporated it somehow since it's an odd feature, and could give players their own personal screen for online play. Yeah, I've been meaning to play it again.
@Pastellioli Honestly, as someone who has all DLC for the original FE Warriors, I still like that one more as of yet, cause it doesn't drag things out as much. Hyrule Warriors was an amazing start to games getting the Warriors treatment, even if (insert character here) is in trouble became so frequent that I started making a slightly dirty joke about it. I'll need to see for 3 Hopes though.
Digital is accessible, but not easy! I've had to sign my name on those pads at doctor places before..The lines just don't appear where I think I'm drawing!
Yeahh. That's the move I feel Nintendo is going all in Wario on. Like, it's one thing to have a pricey one time purchase, but another to say you need to buy these five things to play your games, and have them all be pricey. I don't doubt they'll decide to raise the price on NSO eventually. As for retailers, I tend to main Gamestop, largely out of a lingering like for my local store. Hoping the preorder date will be soon, as I'm at my wit's end. Largely, aside from wanting to just play the games, I want to get their deal on MKW, and avoid scalpers. I'm kinda curious how they'll tackle basically every first party game getting leaked this generation. Preeeety sure that was cause digital purchases. After a certain friend of mine got wronged by Sony, partly in regards to DRM, that's become a major concern of mine as well. Like, you got hacked? Sorry. We know who did it, and can acknowledge you were hacked, but we are NOT unbanning your account. You won't be able to play any digital purchases you've made, or use your sub. We recommend wiping your console and starting over. I'm starting to understand why ppl pirate stuff sometimes.
I was just largely getting out of MK by the time 7 came along. 8 was nice, but I didn't play it enough. 8D, I used to have a group I occasionally played with, but it seems that group excised me. Had internet issues anyway though.
Mk7 had the first person mode, which was neat.
Eh, just been stressed keeping up with everything tbh. Got a list of sites to check each day. Sometimes, I'm not up to replying after everything else.
Heads up - I'm not trying to be mean or trying to troll. But I've always wondered though; how do you all find the time to read and write on this thread? Like, every post here is thicker than a Stephen King novel.
@Eel Sorry for the late reply. What a novel use of a 3d printer! Do share some of the pieces someday Making plushies and figures must be nice, I have way too many hobbies already, and I still haven't gitten gud at drawing, but I love seeing these small masterpieces. How much was that printer, is the... ink(?) expensive?
@Sunsy sorry for the late reply, I'm sure I replied already, but I think my post got lost and not saved. 28 pranks later is the best episode name I've heard, a shoutout to a cult classic "28 days later", have you seen that movie? Headsup, it's not about ponies
@NotASockPuppet it wasn't always like that. But yeah, when you have an interesting conversation, you sometimes can't help yourself but write.
Bring me the sesame, miso, citrus and pepper flavored fish cakes
@NotASockPuppet Usually when I have free time. Sometimes in the morning like I'm doing right now, sometimes in the afternoon. Replies can get long as @Princess_Lilly says, you can't help but write when you're having a good conversation.
@Princess_Lilly I think my friend told me about that movie, 28 Pranks Later was the first episode of MLP I showed him, and he picked up on the horror references being into horror movies.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Princess_Lilly of course! Here’s a few pics of some of my plushies and the looms I designed to make them.
The printer was somewhere around 250usd, I’m not sure 100% since I bought it in my local currency. I think it’s usually cheaper if bought on the United States though (it’s a Bambu A1 Mini). It uses plastic filament to create the prints, and it’s around 15 usd for a 1kg roll from the brand I’ve been using (Elegoo), but there’s also other cheaper, and also more expensive, brands of course.
I went to the arcade with my friend today. Got to play Asphalt 9 Arcade, Crus'n Blast, and a new racing game called Apex Rebels. Also played air hockey and skee-ball, even got the 10,000 points in skee-ball a few times, which is hard to get.
@Sunsy
I felt bored to visit my current Arcade centre in my hometown Surabaya as there are too many claw machines with plushies / tickets / snacks or candies as the prize, the VR machines over there were not interesting at all, it has less Rhythm Arcade games variety as I really get into Rhythm Arcade games like DDR but only one Arcade that still have one old DDR machine.
The other Rhythm Arcade machine that got a lot of attention is MaiMai Deluxe PRISM (the newest version) but to play that game I have to write my name on the list and wait for at least 1 hour to get my turn and play together with other player due to the hype of new MaiMai machine.
Oh, the other casual Arcade game that got some attention was the water shooter games.
Some of the Arcade center bought the water shooter games like Raccoon Rampage, Dinosaur Era, etc.
@Anti-Matter I'll do you one better, my arcade has a claw machine for an Xbox Series X, lol. I haven't seen a rhythm/DDR machine in a very long time. I think the last time I saw one of those was in the mid-2000's. Mine mostly has racing games (car, motorcycles, Mario Kart GP, etc), shooting games, and traditional ones like skee-ball and air hockey.
Wow, a wait list for an arcade game. Here I had to wait a bit to play some games today, the local arcade was packed today. But it wasn't an hour wait.
I think my local arcade has a few of those, they're like carnival games. Though I don't play those, they're usually rigged (same with claw machines).
Yup, since MaiMai DX PRISM got some popularity in two Arcade place in my hometown, the players who played MaiMai DX machines are mostly from the MaiMai community.
MaiMai DX have a feature to play until 4 songs if you play together with other player. Usually the song choices are chosen from their deal, 2 songs from player 1, 2 songs from player 2.
We must use gloves from fabric to protect our hands from the frictions on the touch screen as the songs going harder, the more tapping and sliding on the screen that will hurt your palm hand if you play MaiMai without gloves.
People's really line up for newest MaiMai DX PRISM so the list made to make sure everyone get their queue. One play session with two players and 4 songs can take approximately 15 minutes and I must wait for at least 1 hour to get my turn with other player as my partner.
A lot of MaiMai players are younger than my age (I'm 40 years old) and most of them from the community can play level 13+, level 14 & 14+ or even level 15 songs effortlessly and they can get SSS score (mostly between 97% until 100%).
I still struggled to get better score especially the level 14 or more songs, tough luck if I can get decent score A (at least 80%) or get B mostly (between 70 - 80 %).
The only I can get more than 90% is from level under 12 songs.
Btw, MaiMai made by SEGA so it has some SEGA IP songs like Sonic, Puyo Puyo, Vocaloid, etc.
Also, it has TOHO Eurobeat songs, Chunithm by SEGA, songs from other Rhythm games such as Jubeat by Konami, Taiko no Tatsujin by Bandai Namco, Groove Coaster by TAITO, etc.
@Sunsy It’s so fun to get games for cheaper on sale. I just wish Nintendo would do that more often for their Switch games, usually the digital eShop sales have decent games but they rarely include Nintendo’s own games. I was kinda proud when I bought Rare Replay on sale lol. Found it was good value and full of a ton of content. I enjoy Xbox’s Spring Sales a lot, but I haven’t played it in two months (yikes!) so I haven’t purchased anything on there lately, but I’d like to do it again soon since I saw their Spring Sale is back.
Yeah…I am kind of hoping that even though MKW is a hit that it might take a while for other companies to price stuff at $80, but apparently reports said most companies are waiting for GTA V’s price tag to be revealed and seeing how well it’ll sell so they can possibly adopt more higher price tags for their games, which is kind of worrying. Usually I find myself sticking to the same old games I have, but for a while I’ve been wanting to be able to possibly play some new games since a ton of the Switch 2 exclusives look awesome, so I am hoping that a lot of games don’t adopt super high price tags soon. The only newer modern game I have played is Marvel Rivals, also because it’s a free-to-play game.
Yep, it’s crazy how much older games and consoles are priced. Sometimes you’d think they be cheaper because they’re old and not the newest model, but it’s crazy how much high they are sold, though I know some of them are scalpers. Usually the price is always determined by the game’s rarity or how much it’s valued. I’ve seen certain N64 cartridges go up for thousands of dollars because some of them are either rare games to find or how unique the game is! It’s also making me appreciate game ports on newer consoles, both because they are cheaper and have better controls and sometimes visuals on the new console. It would be cool if I did own some older games on their OG cartridge and console but I’m completely fine with ports instead. I even found NSO to be pretty decent with the game ports. I did find the N64 NSO ports to have some issues since they were unaltered ports of the original games (like occasionally low frame rates, sometimes weird mapping on the Switch controllers) but I heard Switch 2 is going to add button mapping and rewind for N64 games, so that’s perfect, even though I don’t have the Expansion Pack anymore. It’ll definitely fix some issues active subscribers have with it. Cool, so they brought back the online servers for a super old Star Wars game? I haven’t really heard people doing that before!
If I’m remembering did the 3DS/2DS and Wii U have full support of all DS and Wii games? Because I feel like compared to Switch 2 backwards compatibility that those two did. Yeah, I am really hoping they get all games running well on there if possible. Again the only Switch game I’ve heard is completely unplayable there is Nintendo Labo, which doesn’t really worry me since I’ve never had Labo but I’m more worried about actual games not running at all. Again, just hoping the library isn’t like Xbox’s where only half are playable. I think Microsoft said their backwards compatibility program was later on limited by game rights, technical issues and the like, but it seems like for Nintendo their backwards compatibility doesn’t seem to have any limits…it makes me wonder how different their backwards compatibility is when it comes to limits and what they can and can’t test for their consoles.
“Woah-shi! It’s a double Yoshi explo-shi!” - Yoshi’s Woolly World ad, 2015
If you’re curious, the character in my PFP is Flaky from Happy Tree Friends.
@Pastellioli
The BC of Switch 2 sounds embarrassing when compared with BC of their previous Nintendo machines such as GBA BC with GBC, NDS BC with GBA, 3DS BC with NDS, Wii BC with GameCube, Wii U BC with Wii.
They are just straight BC emulation without issues like Switch 2 BC.
@Mariotag Yeah I felt like that FE Warriors was very similar to Hyrule Warriors a lot, sometimes with the pacing too compared to Three Hopes, from what I remember playing almost a decade ago. It’s been a while since I played the first FE Warriors, also since I returned the game after finishing it and I can’t really remember a whole lot about FE Warriors besides some of the levels and the opening part with the two blonde twins getting separated from their mother. Three Hopes was more memorable for me, but I do prefer FE Warriors pacing and how fast you can play the levels, compared to how in Three Hopes it takes some time to complete them since you have to level up units and form bonds with them in comparison.
I am happy digital is accessible, especially since getting into drawing (especially traditional) can be pricey if you want to get more supplies and color instead of just using a plain pencil and eraser. I am like that, but I have wasted money on items I never really used. Paints being one of them.
Yeah, I really am not a fan of how they kind of want to charge for simple features and stuff. Luckily the prices of the games and console in the US didn’t go any higher after they announced a new US preorder date, but they raised the prices of the accessories by $5 each, which tells me tariffs are unfortunately playing a part in the pricing in some of the items, not the games or console though. Thank gosh older OG Switch controllers are going to still be usable…it’ll save a lot of money. Oh yeah, I enjoy GameStop’s pre-owned game stuff and deals they offer, and I am hopeful some of the Switch 2 games will be pre-owned later on and cheaper through that.
Ah, DRM, it’s so badly managed by some companies now. Getting hacked is also a big concern of mine. I used to freak out about it a lot and got super anxious about it, I have calmed down about it, but the thought of getting hacked on a gaming console, the console manufacturer not helping and instead recommending me to erase my account and progress sucks. It remind me of a story I read on Pure Xbox, where someone’s 15 year old XBLA account got hacked and while Microsoft locked the hacker out of the account, the original owner got locked out too and Microsoft basically went “Sorry, we can’t get you in cuz the password was changed and we have NO idea what it is. How bout you make a new account since this one is going to be permanently banned and all your 15 years of games, game progress and gamerscore is going to be permanently gone?” Summed up like that. That story is what sent me into freak out mode and had me take cybersecurity seriously, but the way Microsoft handled it was awful. Everyone also thinks the OG account owner didn’t set authentication but they never confirmed it or not. Anyone can get hacked but I guess stuff like how old the account is and game progress do increase the risk of getting hacked. And then there was a similar one that happened with a Push Square user but it had to do with him getting locked out of his PlayStation account because of his age and less because of cybersecurity concerns, when the user said he was middle-aged and not extremely young.
Oh, I didn’t know you used to play some MK8 with a group! Was it sorta fun? I never played with a group, I always just played with my family.
I understand. Dont apologize for not being up to replying. I haven’t been on top of replying to others, also because I’ve been busy, trying to do hobbies and just not feeling up to it. I think why is because I haven’t really been having any discussions with people on here as of late, and when I try to start a conversation the discussion goes nowhere and dies off fast, but it’s also because a lot of the people I tend to talk to on the site haven’t been active lately. Most of my fun on NL comes from talking to others, so I have been a bit bored lately, but also because I’ve seen other users being rude to others lately and attacking others for wanting to get a Switch 2 despite the price of the console and games combined. I find it pretty dumb for others to insult others for what they want to buy.
@Pastellioli Yeah, 3 Hopes dragging on, and feeling like you can't take a break while moving on with the game are two big things I have against it. Not quite the same feeling as the end of FE Engage, where the last maps actually take longer to finish than it does my switch to run out of charge...but still.
I spent a lot of time on Hyrule Warriors, as well as OG FE Warriors. I remember FE Warriors bothered me in comparison to HW, partly because some prominent characters weren't playable, and partly because it didn't feel like it did as much meaningful as HW with characters and lore. But I did enjoy it all the same, right down to my shock when I found out there was an extra secret playable character if you truly pushed it.
Digital is very accessible, I'll give it that. In more regards than just for art at that. I guess one of my modern frustrations is a juxtaposition between the overly accessible digital games actually creating an easy to make backlog, and the way game companies can just make all that disappear...same with other media.
Switch 2 has been a nightmare for pricing and anticipation. I was honestly well and truly angry that Nintendo tried to point a political finger, then said they'd already determined the price points beforehand. They're already facing a similar situation the Wii U had with the high tech, and they wanna just go greed and point fingers? I was relieved it was just the accessories that went up though. I rarely use them these days. The nickel and diming is unacceptable too. Gamestop locally has been kind to me. Though notably, they grew wise to some of their best deals. ($30 for any 4 used games, no restrictions was by far my favorite.)
I've been somewhat wary of DRM as far back as when I got a ps3. The disclaimer very clearly said that the buyer does not own the console, and I was rather taken aback. Yes. My friend lost all his progress, all his trophies, and all his digital purchases just like that. I heard of Microsoft's incident too. I'm very afraid of it happening to me. The dude literally had to wipe his console before making a new account, cause otherwise, he was console banned.
It was a MK8 Deluxe group that played on Wednesdays. I only joined a couple times before the discord server went poof. I get the strong impression they made a new hangout spot, and specifically kept me out of the loop. Other than that, and random online play, there was Miiverse back in the day. And the rare family gaming. My family does not play with me often. It's usually me playing Mario Party or Smash with a bunch of AI. And Smash ult decided to reduce single player viability, sooo, I just don't play it so much anymore.
I see. Typical online behavior I guess. I've been finding more and more that OCD plus Autism is just begging for people to boot you. For me, the symptoms naturally come off as toxic. Talking too much? Check. Pushy? Check. Asking questions and not taking hints? Check. Trying to find some way to talk things out when the other person has decided off with your head? Check. Unable to move on from things? Check. People seem to enjoy torturing me with silence when I upset them. Which just gives me that push of anxiety having me compulsively trying to get answers.
And this comes to bear offline as well, with people, and basic tasks.
@Pastellioli Yeah, those ambiance videos can get me in a better mood. My depression comes and goes at times, and it hits me really hard. I like playing games that are easy or relaxing too, those can help me mentally too. But I am feeling all right upon writing this post.
Yeah definitely, you're no longer at the mercy of microtransactions in Pocket Camp Complete, lol. The Leaf Tickets were pretty much deleted after the original servers shut down. And yeah, getting those tickets were pretty hard to get, especially for someone like me who is not a fan of spending money on free-to-play games. I've had quite a few incomplete item sets too. I remember I have at least one complete set, maybe two, been a while since I last played.
Yeah, it'd be cool, just not sure if or when that will happen. I'm perfectly fine with just working with what you're given. I remember seeing that Donkey Kong render when I went to add your friend code, my current one is the Super Mario 3D World render of Mario. I've almost always had Mario as my Switch profile icon, though I did have the Star Cup icon one time.
That's cool, I've heard of Goin' Quackers before, just didn't know it was a Crash Bandicoot clone. I've also played DuckTales Remastered way back on the Wii U, and that was a good game for sure. Still have it downloaded on there. Oh yeah, I also wanna try out Magical Quest and Great Circus Mystery, they're both Mickey Mouse games, and they both look fun. They haven't been rereleased in recent years though. Quite a few of the games based on Disney's franchises are some of the better licensed games around, I find.
Ouch, sorry to hear about your 2DS charger. It's been so long since I played New Leaf. Nice, it sounds like you'd like Happy Home Paradise quite a bit.
Yeah, Diddy Kong Racing has basically been in limbo for years now. There indeed hasn't been a sequel, it didn't get a Virtual Console release since Rare doesn't belong to Nintendo anymore, and it's not on the Switch's N64 catalog as of now. That is interesting on the Conker thing you mentioned... starting out development as a sequel, but ended up being a remake instead. Maybe they made it a remake since it was on the Xbox instead of the GameCube? Probably would've carried on with making a sequel if they were still with Nintendo.
Oh that's awesome. I'm not sure if I'll like it as much as a lot of the 3D Mario games, but I will give it a shot. Yeah, a lot of modern Nintendo games have been getting leaked for some strange reason... probably best not to go on YouTube when that happens. I'm guessing, for the next Mario platformer, they'd announce it on SMB's 40th anniversary.

Sad to hear the passing of Pope Francis today. While I am not religious as a world leader He did alot to help others. May He rest in peace and thoughts go out to his family, friends and followers.

@Eel woooooooo those are so super adorable!!!!!! I also need to check out the 3d printer for my 3d printing needs (which I don't really know about yet, but I'm sure I'll print a TON of everything)
@Sunsy haha, horror movies are so great, also liking them is such green flag, people who dig the atmosphere are easy to talk to My favorite horrors are Blair Witch Project, The Thing, Hause on the Haunted Hill (remake, I always want to watch the original and I end up watching the remake again lol), Silent Hill 1 + 2 (movies), Reincarnation, Jacob's Ladder and more.
And what are yours?
Bring me the sesame, miso, citrus and pepper flavored fish cakes
@Sunsy I'd like to say that I love your new profile picture. Poppy is so cute! Would love to give her a hug too, haha. Glad you had a nice birthday, as well.
Gotcha. I will also admit, I am a bit interested in playing tennis at some point. I took a tennis class in school a while back, and I do like the Mario Tennis games (Aces on Switch is actually pretty good). Oh goody, thanks for the heads up on the airplane ambiance. That's another thing I like about YouTube ambiance, there's a huge variety of them, and there's always gonna be something for everyone. Like how I enjoy the train and oldies ones I mentioned a little while back.
Yeah exactly, by that time there won't be a huge amount of people updating their newly-acquired consoles and stuff like that, lol. The last time I got a console for my birthday, it was the Wii. It was quite the memorable experience playing the Wii for the first time, Wii Sports was a lot of fun. Yeah... I will be honest, I'm not thrilled about the $80 price tag, either. Mario Kart World looks great and I'd love to play it, but I'm not comfortable paying that much for a single game. Plus it just makes it harder for consumers to get more games, and things like that. There is a Switch 2 console bundle that comes with the game, but I think that's just gonna stick around until sometime in the fall, while supplies last. I dunno... why couldn't that be around during the holiday season? Maybe it will, but I don't know for sure. This is purely speculation on my part, but I would imagine that certain games costing $80 would hurt Nintendo themselves, too. Since the Switch 2's hardware and software sales could be limited. Hopefully, we'll see the game prices change for the better. As for what you're saving up for, that's cool. Looks like you've had that laptop for a good while now. Do you build PCs, or maybe replace certain PC components? I do know what it's like, but never done it myself.
That LAN feature for a few of the GameCube games would definitely be cool to implement. I don't expect it to happen, but we will certainly see. I remember Kirby Air Ride had that feature, too.
This is a random thing to bring up, but I think you'll like this. On Valentine's Day I saw Lady and the Tramp (the 1955 original), and I liked it a lot. Even wrote a mini-review of sorts on the movie thread a little while back. I can quote my thoughts to here if you want.
