@Tyranexx Oh that's totally understandable. Real life can indeed hit like a train at times... that can happen to me and everyone else as well. I've mainly focused on the main quests, as well as exploring the game's world and doing as much shrines as I could. I've done some side quests, too. Ah gotcha, I haven't played enough of Get It Together as of now but I do remember that you could control your characters during the microgames themselves.

Yeah I didn't have too much games for my GBC either. I did have stuff like Super Mario Land 1 and 2, Donkey Kong '94, Pokemon Red, and the Game & Watch Gallery games, but that's about it. I did like them all, but I will admit that I... kinda sucked at Pokemon, lol. It was the first time I ever touched an RPG though. The GBA was when I had a lot more games, plus it helped that the GBA was on the market longer than the GBC, IIRC.

That's actually a good strategy you came up with, just taking a small thing or two with you. Since you're less likely to lose your precious belongings, especially something like the Switch. I would've been real upset if I somehow lost that, though I'm generally careful with making sure I pack everything before I'm outta here. Got your response in the artist thread.

@Sunsy It actually was a smartphone, just apparently it wasn't very good. It's actually lasted two years before it started to go haywire. I've never had an iPhone, I just happen to use Android phones since I've ended up with those. I used to have an iPod and we still have an iPad, but that's about it with whatever Apple devices we've had. That horse mask is indeed ridiculous, lol. Wonder what the horse guy's move set would be like?

Looks like you got more use out of that DS wrist strap than I did, lol. I remember Ridge Racer DS... I used to have that game and I thought it was pretty good at the time.

It was bad, yeah... it wasn't even that big of a deal just because I had a gosh dang rolling bag. That was back in my middle school days, and I still remember that to this day. You can't make this stuff up, lol. That's good no one got told off for that at your school. That's cool you use your Poppy backpack. No judgment from me whatsoever.

That's cool you saw Guardians of the Galaxy 3, I did see that you loved it, glad you did! I've not heard of Ferdinand. Yeah same here, I saw Mulan at one of my schools since we didn't have it at our home back in the day. I remember liking its story and setting. Quite a lot of other Disney movies I wanna see, too... I've been in a Disney mood lately.

I'm not a terrible artist, I just have my own unique way of drawing.

@Eel It's what I plan to say next time someone makes fun of my skill.

Speaking of personalized art. I’ve been into watercolor lately. I only have a small set of pastel colors, but it’s been fun painting random stuff.

I’m not particularly skilled and it, but it’s still quite relaxing.

I wish I could do the cool water-splotchy floral art people usually do with watercolors.

@Owl1 Not really a good trailer for a series, but nice to see we are getting new "Black Mirror" episodes soon-ish... . Seriously though, the gap between dystopian science-fiction and the real future is closing faster than ever.

Gaming since the early nin(e)ties and probably will until death does me apart :) .
Looking forward till the day we can game with all of our senses.

@Eel That is so cool! I am also getting into watercolor just now! I got the Van Gogh pocket set as it is budgety and very compact! I also got cheaper watercolor paper and some decent brushes

If you need some videos find Paul Clark on YT as his tutorials are AMAZING!
I hope you are having fun with this medium

@Owl1 True that, still eagerly (though patiently) waiting for the Ghost in the Shell-stuff to become real. Can't wait to leave the restrictions of the body behind and let the soul roam freely, haha .

@Zuljaras ah you might have seen a few random pics on twitter already!

I have the derwent pastel shades watercolor pan set, it’s also of the pocket variety. I would definitely love to expand the color palette with more traditional shades, so I’ll try and see if your recommendation is available here, and check out those videos.

I got it as part of a scrawlrbox… box. So it came with a paper pad as well. I’m nearly done using all the pages though!

Edit: here’s what I painted today.

@Eel Just saw that The pastel shades will always be more muted in comparison to the other. I did not know before that, that there are neon, natural, metalic, pearl etc. shade variations of the watercolor medium.

I will start by making some small landscape paintings.

One of the coolest techniques is the "wet on wet" one. Also sprinkling table salt on the wet paint on the paper makes some cool textures after drying

This guy Paul Clark explains them quite well and he has tutorials for separate stuff like how to paint trees, sky, sea etc. and also full blown paintings

PS: This Metroid is so nicely done!

@Zuljaras thanks! I’m quite proud of the gutsy bits on the metroid. I’ll try to scan it to share a better version of the pic eventually. About pastels, yeah, and they get more muted as they dry too. I do appreciate how… solid they end up being though, makes it easier to layer and cover up stuff.

Ohh I got to try that salt thing. I’ll sub to the guy.

I suppose you could say I’m in my “make a single subject and then a vague background around it” period.

I kind of try to make a wet on wet effect on my backgrounds. But I think this paint is either quick drying, or the various fans keeping the room at an acceptable temperature make it dry quick 😅

@Eel That's an awesome Metroid painting that you've done. I've done a little bit of watercolor during my drawing class, but only as a sort of experiment. I guess it didn't click with me when I tried it out myself (drawing with pencils is more my forte), but I do like how watercolor paintings look in general.

@MarioLover92 thank you! I’d love to be able to draw well with pencils, with the cool shading and smoothing and stuff. But I usually end up with a smudgy mess instead.

I have a relative that does oil painting professionally. It’s honestly so cool, but a lot more expensive…

@Eel Mmmm, you have to wet the paper with clean water first (I mean really wet it with a brush) and then you start putting paint on top. You will get some really nice mixing effects on it. And that way you will have more time for mixing the colors Just remember to wet only the places where you want to put paint first.

And you are probably familiar with this but if you want to have opaque colors and paint ON TOP of the other paints (after they dried) you should use gouache paint which is watercolor BUT it is opaque where traditional watercolors (aquarelles) are always transparent.

I never knew that there where more than one TYPE of watercolors.

@Owl1 Haha, sorry to have made you the victim of my morning pondering...and I will spare you my often too philosophical straying aways of the mind, but I just want to say this: don't get me wrong, I love the myriad of bodily sensations, including all the strain and toil that comes with it . It is just that after just waking up and leaving the dream-like state I can't help but feel a bit nogalstic and melancholic towards the total freedom I have had over there, haha (a) . It is not that I want to leave the body completely (as of now, that is, haha), but I would love to be able to experience both from time to time (and not only partly in the dream-like state).

@Zuljaras oh I’m not sure what’s in these particular watercolors then, but these actually layer quite well, and are like, very opaque once they dry. Unless you really water them down. It’s almost like they have a matte finish to them.

You might be able to see it in my profile banner/avatar here on the site, it’s also the same watercolors, and I basically painted it in layers.

I’ll try adding more water next time I try wet on wet. Perhaps I was being a bit stingy.

It’s also somewhat funny, but the box also came with a white gel pen to add details. But the pen simply wants nothing to do with the paint, it won’t write on top of it no matter how dry it is. I honestly would have preferred a blank liner or something else.

@Eel Yes that is watercolors. Gouache paints come in tubes 99% of the time. While pure watercolors come in both pans or in tubes. The best things is that even after they are dry from the tube you can rewet them and have the same results

I saw artists do the watercolor test on youtube in order to see if the brand is good. They but a thick black line on the paper with waterproof marker and then put the colors on top of it. After they are dry the line should be perfectly visible.

Also, if you paint with watercolors you have to do it in "negative way". You have to paint around the object and then paint the object. With gouache, oils and acrylic you can just paint on top of 10 layers and they will be perfectly opaque.

Seriously after so many digital drawing the traditional stuff feels so fresh, relaxing and exciting

PS: That white jelly pen should stay on top no matter what. Just make sure the painting is totally dry.

[Edited by Zuljaras]

Eel

@Zuljaras oh these would definitely make a black liner disappear. Perhaps they have a lot of white filler to ensure the pastel tone.

I’ve tried it with days old test swatches, the pen doesn’t seem to like the paint at all.
