I felt my Sonic games purchased are wasted, like I couldn't even play the games. 😟
Sonic Lost World 3DS was too hard even on world 1 - 2.
Sonic Heroes Gamecube was still too hard for me. (Stage 4 by Team Sonic).
Sonic Generations PS3 was too hard on early stages.
Sonic Riders Zero Gravity Wii was same too, still too hard even on the first stage.
Mario & Sonic 2008 Wii, some sports even were almost impossible to clear due to complicated control scheme.
Not sure about Mario & Sonic 2014 Wii U as I almost didn't play that game for very long time but I remembered the control scheme was fairly playable.
The only Sonic game I think I could play until finish was Team Sonic Racing PS4 as the genre is racing so it still my minor forte.
I don't think I want to consider another Sonic games as I really suck at Sonic games no matter how many times I played, it was like a curse to like Sonic games. I couldn't play with very high speed reaction as I will get panic attack by doing so. Even I have to slow down when playing Sonic games.
Oh, well...
My disappointment with Sonic games. 😞
@Eagly Yeah, I thought they sucked. I finally caved and clamed some of the DLC core crystals so I could finally give Nia a second blade that wasn't a tank (Boreas), I also got Corvin. @ComfyAko Yeah, I get that but he has some redeeming features.

Oh, btw...
I tried to watch some LEGO games gameplay on YouTube such as marvel, star Wars, hobbit, etc but no matter how many times I saw those Western franchises in LEGO characters, I still keep frowning my face, a sign that I felt really uncomfortable to watch and digest those Western franchises. 😟
The good part was only the open world style LEGO games but the negative parts are the certain characters I recognized from those Western franchises that I still hate them even in LEGO form (the villains like joker and that red ninja).
I have ever played LEGO Jurassic on PS4 but I felt didn't click after finishing two games. I sold the game and somehow it's coming back to my mind to reconsider that game but I need to think carefully.
I wonder which LEGO games that I possibly can getting along well from the franchises that I still never getting along with.
In my mind, I was thinking LEGO World, LEGO Incredible because of Disney.
What do you think?
@Anti-Matter I think part of your problem is you can't like something if even one bit of it bugs you.
I have no clue who you mean by that red joker?
Maybe try the Marvel superhero games, I don't think they feature any villains as evil as the Joker but then again you've said you hate most western stuff. I think you'd enjoy them more if you just sort of tried to not think about the franchises they're based on whilst playing them.

@Eagly I have no clue how expensive is licensing, but it might be some issue. Building a new game is pretty expensive unless you reuse assets, map, etc. and many western developers do that. The mario one was pretty horrible, not gonna lie.
I still think of them as of AAA games, I don't know the exact budget, but in western games 95% of the budget goes to graphics, while music is composed on the knee of the guy who lost the lottery, in the bus to the office one day before the release. The writers are yet to discover the mystery of putting a sentence together correctly and the gameplay is 3 activities copied and pasted 150 times. In Japanese games more money actually goes to the music and writing, I think. I love hating on western game industry, I know it won't make them start producing anything worth more than what I have in my trash bin, but it's still soothing.
Mario 64 was a giant step forward in the graphics and worldbuilding, that's why it was so impressive back then. If you played it now, it might not seem as compelling, though. There were other pre PS2 games that were absolutely amazing - Super Metroid, Crash Bandicoot (a rival to Mario), Spyro the Dragon, Klonoa, Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9 ,and many more. Maybe it's just not your time period. I got something like this, I can't like anything from 2010 to 2013 no matter how hard I try. It was just a bad period with bad memories, that's the main reason why we can't judge games objectively, I think.
@TeaCatherine I don't know if that would help in this case
@Anti-Matter The list of things you hate is longer than mine, you have my respect.
@TeaCatherine
Well, I cannot just forcing myself to like something when my natural instinct said otherwise. And just because I cannot like certain things it doesn't mean a problem for me. It was like I have to get married with somebody I never getting along well. It will be always clashed and create more drama.
Anyway, I changed my mind about getting another LEGO games after some thought again. I don't want to repeat same mistake again after I have ever played LEGO Jurassic on PS4 and it failed to impress me so I sold the game. I still felt clashed and didn't feel right to digest Jurassic franchises and that was the reason I stopped thinking about LEGO Jurassic. The only LEGO game I genuinely like is LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER as I shown genuine interest when I watched the trailer and gameplay on Wii U version for the first time 10 years ago. That was the only LEGO game didn't use popular Western franchises as the main theme so I could getting along well with the game, even I triple dipped LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER on Wii U, Switch & PS4 + 3DS version. And LEGO CITY UNDERCOVER 3DS was my first LEGO game I bought on Nintendo machine 10 years ago and I still keep it.
But meanwhile, I reconsider my decision to get all Kingdom Hearts games on PS4 after some random thought. I have ever said I stopped thinking about Kingdom Hearts games but strangely I suddenly reconsider my decision to play that game again after I felt really want to experience the free roaming Disney World in HD as looking for open world games for kids that still matched enough for me was really difficult. So it gave me different direction to find another kids games on PS4 / PS5 with free roaming or open world style that still matched with my personality. I already have some titles on my list, but I need to find more similar games like that.
@Anti-Matter I mean they can be enjoyed even if you have no interest in the franchises, when me and my siblings were younger we loved pretty much all the Lego games even if we had no attachment to the franchise. We had the Star Wars ones, the Harry Potter ones and the Marvel and DC ones despite not really liking the franchises.
I just meant minor niggles seem to bother you a lot, whereas I would just ignore them and focus on the positives of things I like such as XC2, you dropped it 'cause of the cleavage and stuff, I just ignore it and focus on the characters and other things about it I like.

@TeaCatherine
Well, maybe you have no problem to digest those contents but I have different perception and reaction to digest the things. Even the minor things can be a huge problem for me.
I don't want to feel regret after that so better I apply some very strict filter and I have to make sure I can enjoy the things without being forced to like them.
Btw, I feel better after I sold my xenoblade 2 as I really regret to have a game with disturbing looking female characters and not engaging gameplay. Not everyone have to like certain things. Just let me be myself without forcing myself to be like other peoples and I regret after I tried to like something that I genuinely don't like. I will not touch xenoblade games ever and so be it.
Hope everyone's doing well. Got to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons with a friend of mine last night. We had fun, and we got to visit each other's islands and houses. That got me in the mood to come back to the game, and I wanna go for the remaining bugs and fishes for my museum.
@Tyranexx Thanks. Oh my goodness, I made a pun without realizing it, lol! I guess I have a tendency to say "I'm stumped" whenever I get stuck on anything. Gotcha, and it's all right. Hopefully I'll figure this out on my own.
Ah gotcha... I don't remember much from the first time I played Twilight Princess, but I do recall getting stuck somewhere in the first dungeon. I've heard awesome things about Okami, but I never played it. I have a friend in real life who loves the game. As much as I'd love to get it for the Switch, I kinda need to clear up my backlog a bit before I get it from the eShop.

Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@Anti-Matter It's ok if it bothers you, there's no need to force yourself to do something you'll "regret" for whatever reason (be it psychological, anxiety or ocd - related or religious). It's just that your "natural insticts" are not on the same level as that of a standard consumer.
In case of Xenoblade 2, I think that "disturbing looking female characters" is something that people have problems with because of their preconceptions that female characters are sexualiazed and thus they created their own boogieman living only in their heads. In other words, they think the problem is the female that dresses the way she likes, and they do not see that the only source of the problem is the male that is staring at her. If you don't perceive women as something primarily or only for sex, there is no problem.
But this is only my view and I don't want to impose anything. If you feel uncomfortable with something, just stop playing and move on to something else. I had this feeling many times with anime and there's no need to pretend to enjoy it.
@TeaCatherine I think it is about something entirely different than not liking the franchise as in not enjoying it. Vide earlier paragraphs
Bring me the sesame, miso, citrus and pepper flavored fish cakes
@Eagly It would be cheaper, but would it sell like a new game? Most normies run with their tongues out at everything with a shiny "NEW" sticker. I don't think reusing assets is bad, I just said that doing that too often and too much will make the game feel "cheap".
Maybe that's the point, but what are western AAAs that are not open world pointathlons? I played Hogwarts and even that was made with little effort. It did feel "cheap".
I think that's also because M64 has superior level design. Also, almost every game I mentioned was impressive back then and is even more impressive now, when the level of average well known game has hit the rock bottom. I'm not telling you to go and play it, I just mean that they are in no way obsolete and if they came out today, they would be considered a masterpiece, they would be everything everyone would talk about for weeks.

@MarioLover92 Your typed the word "Okami" and here I am! If you asked me, the word "masterpiece" was conveived with this game in mind. It is a marvelous, magical journey, something as lovable and memorable as "Spice and Wolf", "The Independence Day" or "Bon Jovi". The true staple of the 00s. This game can singlehandedly ignite a passion for Japanese folklore and for gaming.
@Anti-Matter Sorry for the late reply, I was fell walking.
I'm not going to force you to like it, I guess people just defend the things they like.
I do think the designs are way over the top, but not every character in it is like that and if you can look past it which as you've said you can't, there is a good game underneath.
Also, the others are quite different from 2 and the combat is really deep, the tutorials just suck.
By the way, what chapter were you on when you dropped it?
Once again, I'm really sorry and will try and avoid talking about it in the future, please don't block me, I will shut up.
So, I actually beat the original Mortal Kombat, twice this past weekend... for the first time ever. The first time was in the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection on Steam, and the second time was with the GOG version, albeit with free play turned on on the GOG one.
Who knew what started out as comparing the AI between MK 1 and 2 ended up with me beating the game. Heard the arcade version of MK2's AI cheats so wanted to see it for myself, lol.
Short answer, yeah MK2's AI is tough because arcades wanted to milk quarters. On the flip side, I actually find the GOG version of MK2 easier compared to the arcade release in Arcade Kollection. The GOG one is the DOS port.
@Sunsy yeah NFTs now make it incredibly profitable in other words even worse
For me it was just the volume of franchises. It was called lego dimensions but a better name would have been lego warner brothers. The amount of franchises from ghostbusters to Scooby doo was really exiting . And later these small packs would end up getting their own full non dimension sets.
I didn’t know that about TT who knows maybe they will make a new sonic game a full lego sonic that would be a cool way to return to thier roots
For me a PC seems like a huge time/money sink even if I knew what I was doing. I would need to hire a professional to make one for me
Indeed, it was a lot of Warner Bros series under one roof. Shame Toys To Life went away and the game ended, it would be fun to see what the game could have expanded with.
Yeah, they did a bunch of older Sonic games. They also did a few Disney games, Toy Story and Finding Nemo comes to mind.
For PC, the price to entry may be more expensive due to what you want in your PC to play games on, but all the sales and deals you get with games, and the fact online multiplayer is free, ends up helping you save money in the long run.
@Sunsy Ah all right, that would be good to get some more practice on those courses. We should play online again sometime, once we both find the time of course.
Ah gotcha, so you haven't played too much of it. Wonder what your thoughts would be if you decide to come back to it, since I know you're huge into Sonic.
Yeah... little did I know that I played a game that was originally on a computer from the 80s, lol! I actually do have a Retro Gamer magazine that has a whole section on the ZX Spectrum, going over many of the hardware itself, and its peripherals. Plus a whole checklist on what games to get for a complete collection. I didn't bother starting a collection though, I've been content with my Nintendo games and everything. Fun fact, Rare was originally known as Ultimate Play the Game. Kind of an odd name for a company, lol - they wouldn't be called Rare/Rareware until the NES/SNES days.
Yeah I hope both of us can find one! I'm a huge fan of the SNES, after all.
Ah really, I didn't know that. I think a similar thing happened with Wii Sports, where they would reissue the game with a few things updated. I was watching a video on the history of Wii Sports world records, and it was mentioned that a few copies were actually an early version of the game, when it was first bundled with the Wii in 2006. The later version of Wii Sports had illustrations of a Wii Remote in its jacket IIRC, and an extended intro for baseball.
Oh that's awesome. From what I've played of Disney Dreamlight Valley, it's a nice, chill kind of game, and a good one to play before going to bed. That's cool, I've seen a fair amount of Alice in Wonderland, the original Disney classic, and I'd like to see it in its entirety sometime. I do love a good classic Disney movie.
Indeed, hopefully one day when we can find the time.
Yeah, I got it for Christmas in 2014, but then both Sonic Boom games took over my life then, and then Super Smash Bros. Wii U entered the picture. It was a pretty busy Winter between three games.
Cool, I miss magazines. I just have two issues of Nintendo Power and an old Maximum PC magazine on my book shelf. Didn't know that about Rare, all I knew was they made Battletoads before becoming a second part developer to Nintendo.
Yeah, the weird part is Smurfs Dance Party leaves two different saves, one save says "TRU" (for Toys R Us exclusive), and the other one won't, and the save data will only be read to their responding discs. In a way, it's like those going for a 100% complete Wii collection, then they're going to need both copies. Didn't know Wii Sports had two versions, I think I have the one with the remote jacket.
That's cool, speaking of Disney, Disney Speedstorm is finally coming out on April 18th. Looking forward to this one too. It's a very good movie, Alice in Wonderland is a great Disney classic. I like the Disney Junior spin-off, Alice's Wonderland Bakery, so much. The show does a lot of fun callbacks to the movie, even the main character Alice, is the great granddaughter of Alice from the movies, and they even acknowledge movie Alice multiple times.
It's cool Disney does this stuff for their younger kid shows, it makes them more fun for older Disney fans too. Sofia the First had the princesses and Olaf, and I remember my nephew use to like Jake and the Neverland Pirates, heavily borrowed from Peter Pan.
@Sunsy I've tried almost a little of everything, though I intentionally stay away from sports games lol. I enjoy some classics like Pac-Man and co., BurgerTime, Street Fighter II, Galaga, etc. There aren't too many modern cabinets that come in, though there was a fresh off the presses pinball machine we got in awhile back based on The Mandalorian. Most of the repair jobs we get are either pool tables (resurfacing usually) or older cabinets that need some TLC and slight modernization (New screens, etc.).
Come to think of it, we got in a classic Junkyard pinball cabinet earlier this week. I need to fit in a round or two on it before it moves out.
Great games there, funnily enough I was playing Street Fighter II for a bit this morning. Ah, I wish I could play more real pinball. I love video game pinball, actually considering Pinball FX on PC just to play the Trolls table. I only ever tried a real pinball machine once at a local hot dog restaurant.
Arcade video games, I played a lot more. Played a lot of Sega ones over the years, and a few when I went to Atlantic City a very long time ago, one of the casinos had an actual video arcade called Aladdin's Castle. There I played Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Vs. Super Mario Bros.
I also use to have a local arcade that would set the games to free play every Sunday. Was a fun time to go. It was like $6, all the games you can play.
@TheBigBlue Is that on the Switch? I'd really like to play that one, and I made a Japanese Nintendo account recently, too. Or is it just on nintendo switch online?
