I’ve now seen the Sonic 2 movie. It’s hard to rate it, honestly. You can look at it from the eyes of a movie watcher, or a video game fan. From the former view it’s a clichéed, over the top CGI fest with too much focus on corny CGI characters. But from the latter view it’s an entertaining love letter to Sonic.

I’d say it’s a little both. As expected the human sub plot tends to slow the movie down, but the villains and Knuckles steal the show. It should be criminal how good Knuckles was. Same with Robotnik, Jim Carrey was a class act as ever. Sometimes he looked like he was having too much fun in that role. Idris Elba did his thing and utterly failed at not making Knuckles sexy.

Sounds like it was pretty good, then, @TheJGG .... Better than most video game films? (that's not really a very high bar to clear, in all honesty

Phew...
I have played Epic Chef PS4 since afternoon and I have planted a lot of Potatoes and Evil Mandragora plants to make a lot of Ghostatoes from mixed Potato + 2 Evil Mandragora with selling price 250 Escudos for each Ghostato.
Quick money maker. 😃

At the same time I have to prepare some ingredients for Cooking Battle with Chef Bolton with Judge's rules = No Pastor sauce, No Magical ingredients, No Mixed ingredients, Vigor penalty during 2nd round for 2 times (Minus a lot of points for adding the forbidden ingredients) so I have to prepare ingredients with high Spirit and Sophistication but with very low or zero Vigor point to minimize Vigor point lost for 2nd round. I have to think carefully which ingredients should I prepare and which ingredients I should put in right order to get very high Spirit and Sophistication points.
This game was surprisingly interesting to play.

Anyway, who have ever played Epic Chef ?

@BruceCM I’d say it’s one of, if not the best, video game movies. And yeah, it’s a pretty low bar to clear at the moment. Video game movies tend to lean into the video game logic too much, and that hurts how well they do as movies.

One hopeful to break that trend? Ghost of Tsushima, that’s being directed by the guy who did John Wick. So we can expect crazy fight scenes and slick cinematography. Something that in balance could be powerful.

Yeah, while most video game films don't seem to really appeal to fans of the games, @TheJGG .... But I'll keep an eye on the 1 you mentioned, don't think I'd heard of that before

Haha thanks, it’s not my birthday yet so thanks in advance.

It’s on the 28th, so it’s still a bit on the horizon.

@Eel I remember one day back at school, there was a friend I had who's birthday was week from a specific day and, as a joke, we all started wishing him happy birthday everyday for that week. Even now, whenever we meet up around about the same time, one of us will always chime in with it and then everyone else will join in as well. It was a great time.

@Eel Ah yeah those would be cool to have for sure. I have a t-shirt that has an entire screenshot of the original Pac-Man, as well.

@blindsquarel Personally I'm kind of holding off on getting Switch Sports, I wanna see if they're gonna add more sports besides golf. Nintendo Life did a review of the game - it's right here.

@Fizza lol, I actually do something similar - every time it snows in my area, I like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Even if it's not December and I have all our Christmas decorations put away!

Last night, watched Brave for the first time. Enjoyed the movie, especially the interactions between Merida and the bear (her mom).

@TheJGG The latter is how I felt, it felt like a love letter to Sonic for me. Especially the little nods the movie made to the series, such as the Miles Electric, and use of the plane, and the chaos emeralds.. Good to hear you seen it, it was fun going back to the theater for it. The theater felt like a Sonic convention, many were there in Sonic themed shirts and had Sonic plushies, myself included.

Hoping for a similar experience when Trolls 3 comes out, just love seeing other fans. IIRC, Frozen II had a lot of fans there, and even chatted with one who sat next to me and mom.

@MarioLover92 I was thinking it was more impressive than the original. F-Zero GP Legends felt like it had two layers of mode-7, one for the track, and one for under the track.

Yeah, that's the game I was thinking of. Maybe I should track down a used copy or something, I remember that was a sports game I wanted to try, and it stood out as it had its own amiibo cards. It felt like Nintendo was making it similar to sports cards or something whenever seeing them in the store.

I have Sonic Adventure 2's soundtrack in its case, and I think I had my copy of Smashing Live in a CD book somewhere (anyone remember those?).

@Sunsy
Say...
Since you like to post some of your cooking photos, do you like cooking games too like Cooking Mama or have interest with game I played recently Epic Chef ?

Epic Chef is available on Steam and consoles.

The game was like Story of Seasons or Stardew Valley with main focus of cooking the dishes with various ingredients that being calculated with numbers depend on the order of ingredients being cooked. The storyline was quite hilarious despite there are some mild rude languages like Paper Mario games. The game was heavily about Spectre Magic, mixed fantasy races (Orc, Cat peoples, Elf peoples), pirates, even there was a Jesus as the carpentery shop owner and land seller.
I enjoyed the game so far like I played Story of Seasons games from farming aspect and making money but the cooking battle was really interesting as I must know how to create dishes to get highest point on Vigor or Spirit or Sophistication points from the combination of ingredients and must be cooked in right order and right ingredients combination to get extra point bonus when being cooked + sauce addition to add more points or affecting the judging process during tasting. I was interested to find the combination of ingredients that can make higher points in order to finish the storyline or upgrading my level quickly by eating my cooked dish depend on how many points of Vigor + Spirit + Sophistication from the dishes you cooked multiplied by your daily activities that have multiplier from x0, x0.5, x1, x1.5 until x5 (MAX) on each Vigor, Spirit and Sophistication points. Speaking about the dishes in Epic Chef, there were a lot of bizzare ingredients such as Rat, Unicorn bacon, Unicorn Poo, Spider Leg, Wood log, Ghost Potato, Evil Mandragora fruit, etc. I wonder how was the taste just looking at the result of the dishes.

I still didn't see peoples talking about Epic Chef and even the Nintendolife staffs seems kinda pessimist about that game from their review but I quickly enjoyed the game as I like the farming activities, cooking activities and Chibi looking of the character design.
Here is the thing, I like to experience with 3rd party games than 1st party games as I always got new experiences and new horizons from different 3rd party games I played so it was enriching my games experiences and I can discuss with different games topic, not just only stuck by typical games that peoples played a lot (Mario games, Sonic games, Splatoon games, Zelda games, Metroid games, etc).

Let me know what do you think about Epic Chef once you tried the game.

Should I be honored to post the first post in this thread that says spoiler font in the new style?

@Anti-Matter Don't know if I'd ever played it. Honestly, I'm holding out for the upcoming My Little Pony game since I did enjoy the new movie (fan since the previous generation), I don't have many games to buy aside from a few Wii U and 3DS games from the eShop with a gift card I have before it closes.

Amusingly, even though I love cooking, I don't think I ever played a cooking themed game. I do remember trying a demo to Cooking Mama back when DS Download Stations were a thing (anyone else remember those too?), beyond that, never bought the game.
