Guys, I just want to say something. Thank you for being so good for each other. And thanks for being there as a support, if you ever did so. At this moment I am alone, but I feel the need to be in a nice community. I am happy to be here, and I love to see people helping each other. I love games like Mario Party and Animal Crossing becouse they give the possibility to play games with each other even if you havent got any friends in real life (also to play Monopoly and such games...). Thanks for being there. Happy to find a place where you can stick around.
Have a nice day. Voiceactor: The Pirates! (Sony/Aardman 2012) - The Passion: A Brickfilm (Neema 2019) - The Torchlighters: The Story of John Newton (Vision Video 2022) - [NEW] Minno's Laugh and Grow Bible (Minno - 2024)
Amazing, after about two years, my gamecube works again. And none of the games required an update. Imagine that.
(if anyone hadn't seen me say it elsewhere, my gamecube stopped working because the ac adapter died. I ended up getting a used Nintendo brand gamecube ac adapter from ebay. A thrid party Tomee brand ac adapter plug fit so scary tight that it feels like it will break the console. Even removing it was scary - to me anyway.)
I feel concern for any grown adults playing a paw patrol game, unless it’s with their child.
Can't say I'd play a Paw Patrol game, last I've seen of that series was when my nephew was 3-4, around the time it came out. Personally speaking, I do enjoy the occasional cartoon tie-in game, really looking forward to Smurfs Mission Vileaf being a fan of the series.
This is coming from someone who is an adult, I've just always enjoyed animation and cartoons as long as I remember. I will admit, some of the cartoons I like are targeted to kids, like Trolls and Sofia the First. Seriously, the latter kinda surprised me with its storytelling and character development, not bad considering it's a Disney Junior show.
Don't know if my nephew still has an interest in cartoons, but he loves gaming as much as his uncle does.
Well, THQ is no longer published a lot of kids or casual games like during Gamecube and Wii era so I put my hope on Microids and OG Games can be a successors for providing games for kids and casual gamers like Imagine series or Petz series.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I wish THQ Nordic would re-make other Nickelodeon games, in addition to Spongebob. I can only play my old Jimmy Neutron games on GameCube and GBA. Especially since they did mention Jimmy Neutron in addition to other Nick franchises. I guess they only care about Spongebob.
Edit: didn't know the link to the article cut off what I was typing, so fixed that.
@Sunsy
From my experience, THQ was not really good in publishing games for casual gamers.
The kids franchise games during Gamecube era was really hard to play due to terrible controlling scheme and ridiculous goal target to continue the storyline. Blame the developers which got chosen by THQ to create those games.
And THQ have ever published Cheerleader game called All Stars Cheer Squad on Wii and from the gameplay I played, the movements was not even like dynamic cheerleader movements, it was like Semaphore movements. It was so awkward and I laughed to myself to see terrible cheerleader game like that but at least the timing window for execution the movements was great enough, still able to clear the performance. We Cheer 2 by Bandai Namco on Wii was the right model of cheerleader games with dynamic movements like dancing. It was felt almost like Para Para dancing.
@Anti-Matter Personally, I don't think I had any control problems with the THQ games I've played on GameCube, which was mostly Nickelodeon stuff and Cars.
It's worth noting the THQ now, which is THQ Nordic, is not the THQ from yesteryear. Sometime after THQ closed up shop, a company known as Nordic Games bought the name and several franchises (Red Faction, Darksiders are the only two I can think of at the moment), and the THQ name, which is why Nordic Games is now THQ Nordic.
I actually own a Wii U copy of Legend of Kay, and that's the only game I have with the Nordic Games name on it.
In the mid 2000's, I think THQ's strategy was get the rights to whatever popular property and make it into a game. I remember it was Nickelodeon stuff, Pixar stuff (Disney Interactive/Buena Vista Games did non-Pixar stuff in the early-mid 2000's), Hot Wheels just to name a few. They even co-published most of Sega's GBA games (Sega still published some).
The stream was to celebrate 10 years of THQ Nordic, which meant Nordic Games' own anniversary. THQ was still in business in 2011. I think their last games were Wheel of Fortune and Darksiders 2 on Wii U, 2012. THQ closed in early 2013.
This could only be my guess to why they really don't do much casual/kids games anymore. Little fun fact, THQ stood for Toy Headquarters. My family use to have a Home Alone 2 board game made by THQ, it's also the reason to why it was T*HQ Inc. in older games too.
I can't blame people saying THQ, as it rolls off the tongue better than THQ Nordic, and it's easier to say. Similar to how SNK was easier to say than SNK Playmore, when they use to use that name.
@Eel I mean, I don’t get burnout. It’s mostly just that most switch games have either disappointed me or just don’t interest me after a while. On occasion I get stuff like Great Ace Attorney or other games I really want to beat, but it rarely happens on this console.

Pretty much this exactly, applies to me. The last three months especially have been quite empty as a Switch player that I've even surprised myself with how little I've used it lately.
@TheJGG On my end, this year was the year I finally got a lot of use out of my switch, as tons of games I’m interested in are releasing, and aren’t that disappointing in comparison. Monster hunter rise, monster hunter stories 2, Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, and Warioware. Not to mention that there’s still a few other games coming this year like metroid dread and smt V.
Nintendo’s first party offerings just haven’t been that great to me this gen, aside from things like BotW. Games like New Horizons or Kirby Star allies ended up deeply disappointing me, making me wish I could just sell them or something.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@TheJGG I would say I'm more or less, I mean I would say i have played on my switch less this year, But we should be getting a slew of games to soon supply us with the gaming water we like oh so much.
Edit: is it just me or I'm I getting a lot of DBZ adds on this site LMAO.
@TheJGG First of all, my apologies on my delayed response. It's been...crazy. No other decent description for it. There are a couple of evenings this week where I didn't even game. Seems like you've been pretty occupied as well, so I don't feel too bad about it lol.
I know what it's like to have a thing, person, or concept dominate your thoughts (more on that shortly), and music certainly fits that category! Can't say I've heard of The Avalanches, but surprisingly I think I have heard of CHVRCHES. Don't believe I've listened to any of their music though, so I hope to check out both groups soon. I've jotted down the tracks you mentioned, they seem like an excellent place to start!
I finished Ys VIII before my short out-of-state departure last weekend, and...wow. It's one of the best action RPGs that I've played in recent memory. only outranked by Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition in my book (I consider BotW and other Zelda games strictly action/adventure). Fun combat, exploration, decent character development, a story that starts out decent, sags a little about 1/3rd of the way through, only to increase in quality after that low point to an amazing climax....And the music, so many awesome, varied tracks. I've linked a few personal favorites below:
To summarize: I had a blast with the game. I spent 70+ hours on it, longer than I expected to in all honesty, but for the most part those hours were all fun. I'm now extremely interested in playing through the rest of the series, or at least the most recent iteration of each game; there have been several remakes over the years. Thankfully, I've come across this wonderful site in my internet wanderings to help out.
It's been almost two years now since I've been on a plane. No complaints really, though there are aspects of air travel I do occasionally miss. I forgot to mention last time, I do use my phone as a music player as well (thanks Spotify Premium) and am glad that it still has a headphone jack. I have a nice set of bluetooth headphones I use at work, but at the end of the day they aren't the most portable lol. While I enjoy reading, I don't get around to audiobooks much; they're not the best to listen to with my work, and I don't have a long enough commute to really make the investment worth it.
Confession time: I don't believe I've read your Xenoblade work since the update I posted last time. I'll try to cram in a chapter or two this weekend. This weekend and some of next weekend is pseudo-busy, but I should have pockets to breathe here and there. Starting next month though...hello insanity! I'll likely take a forum break then and not have much site activity in general, but I will formally announce my departure in this thread when the time comes. I'm very interested in how you characterized Alvis and look forward to when I make it to that bit. Honestly, looking back there were a couple of subtle hints in the game about Alvis. The point of writing, at least in this case, is to unwind and have fun, which I think you're doing pretty well.
I heard about the PS5 showcase and some of what showed up, though I didn't watch it. Out of what you listed, the games I'd be most interested in would be Horizon Forbidden West (though I'd likely benefit from playing the first game lol), Marvel’s Spider-Man, and the remaster of Uncharted 4; I've always had a passing interest in the latter series and nearly had an opportunity to play the first game at one point, but the series's choice of platform is a bit of a barrier right now. We don't know what Nintendo is up to after January with Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which means we're about due for a Direct!
I think the historical accuracy and general gameplay is what would draw me towards Ghosts of Tsushima. Love what footage I've seen of it. Speaking of the BotW DLC...I intend to dive into it over the next few days now that I have Ys VIII and the short but fairly decent Drill Dozer out of the way. I've also started Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, a fun little Dragon Quest spinoff that so far deserves the praise I've heard about it.
Oof...yes. While I get having a little bit of extra space for some leeway for an installation, 70-80 GB seems a little much. Though I do confess that I don't know what resources each game will take up. I've started grudgingly embracing digital on occasion, though you still won't hear me singing praises about it. Much better than streaming and games as a service though.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@Snatcher I have a Life is Strange True Color ad. Do I get bonus points for seeing a Sonic Colors ad on the Sonic article (if you're wondering, I'm a general Sonic fan, I've liked all eras).
Edit: It went to Dragon Ball Z after I replied, lol.
@Sunsy
I just wonder about Finding Nemo Gamecube version, have you ever accomplish the mission 6 at Mine field ?
That was really freaking hard, I stopped playing the game since following Bruce was almost impossible to do.
And for Rocket Power on Gamecube, I wonder if anybody can finish that stupid impossible challenge to grab 10 rockets in 5 minutes. The controlling was really mess to do aerial skateboard, It made me really pissed off and stop continuing the game also. Grabbing the rocket inside dark tunnel was almost impossible to do and wasting the time since the challenge force you to do precise timing to get them.
@MarioLover92 Thanks! It was kinda short, but pretty good overall. Plenty of food (too much one evening lol ) and good company!
I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and have some interest in Star Wars, though I wouldn't call myself a diehard fan. I've seen bits and pieces of the older movies, though I did watch the entire sequel trilogy in theaters. I enjoyed them, though I do agree that a couple of decisions (including Carrie Fisher in the last movie via posthumous footage) were headscratchers. I do intend to watch them all in chronological order....at some point.
That was the best part about countering: how epic it makes Samus/the player feel. It seemed so fluid and intuitive after adapting.
@tekoii Thanks! She's excited but stressed out between planning for that and still being a full time college student. I love volunteering at the haunted house; I get to meet wome pretty cool people, am basically there to get a kick out of scaring guests (some reactions are priceless) all while staying in character, and we get provided with free food as well. Some of the hours earlier on get a little long since there isn't much traffic, but it tends to pick up closer to Halloween.
I'm taking breaks when I can, next weekend is an extended one due to time off that I definitely need...then hello insanity!
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@Anti-Matter It's been a long time since I've played both games, I rented Rocket Power Beach Bandits and have Finding Nemo. Actually, I ended up beating Finding Nemo twice, once when I rented it, once when I got it. I haven't played it in a very long time so I can't remember what I did to beat it.
BTW, I'm a Smurfs fan, so you know how much I'm looking forward to Smurfs Mission Vileaf. Going to end up getting it on PC first because GOG has it DRM-free. Later on I'll get it on Switch too.
@Snatcher Awesome! While I enjoyed each game I played, you and I are similar when it comes to Sonic in general.

@Sunsy
You finished Finding Nemo Gamecube twice ?? 😲
How did you pass that ridiculous hard mission 6 by following Bruce ?
Speaking about Microids, looks like Microids as publisher become the next Ubisoft in term of providing cartoonish games like Ubisoft have ever done during Wii and NDS era.
We got My Universe (Imagine series), The Smurfs, Marsupilami, Asterisk, Tootuff Mega Party, etc. Not to mention Microids' plan to revive some Taito games for upcoming release.
At this point, I really granted for the games by OG Games, Microids and Team 17 for providing kids games on modern consoles.
What is your favorite games from Team 17 and OG Games ?
@Anti-Matter That I can't remember, it's been so long since I've beaten it and played it. I still have the game.
Yes, I remember Smurfs games were made by Ubisoft. I have Smurfs 2 on Wii U and DS (I was surprised when I found it on Wii U, didn't know it existed), and Smurfs Dance Party (basically Just Dance, with Smurfs).
Haven't played any games by OG Games, but I do like Superfrog from Team 17, an old PC game they made. Sadly it's no longer on sale on GOG, but because it's DRM-free I have the game backed up to a USB stick and can install and play it anytime without an Internet requirement.
@Snatcher Indeed, it's nice seeing someone else who likes Sonic. Especially with the hate this series gets online (personally, I'm rather tired of it tbh).
