The Smithsonian American Art Museum will be holding an exhibition of artwork from video games and games as an interactive art form, spanning its entire history and a wide variety of genres. Internet users get to vote for the most influential works from video games. You get to choose 80 games from 5 eras and the winners will be put on display in the museum. The exhibition will be running from March 16, 2012 to September 30, 2012 so if you're in Washington, DC during those months you can visit the museum and check it out too.
@zez Yeah, some of these are incredibly hard decisions. D: Blazing Dragons or Panzer Dragoon Saga? Little King's Story or Zack & Wiki? ARGH! Well I chose Chrono Trigger because visually it looks better than the other two and shows off the power of the SNES. It might have a bit more "wow" factor to passers-by... but it was still a really tough decision. D:
I'm glad to see the selection of games is good. Seems like most of the big, memorable games as well as some great niche titles are represented here.
EDIT: Obviously they aren't talking genres at all, I think they're just categories they'll use for display. I found some of them really puzzling too, lol. Diablo 2 alongside Crimson Skies, whut. Combat/Strategy is the weirdest though! Ogre Battle 64 next to Rainbow Six next to Worms Armageddon? WHAT lol.
In the process of voting: Having to choose between Wind Waker and TTYD. Hardest decision of my life, but I suppose from an art perspective Wind Waker should get my vote Little King's story or Zack and Wiki? Curses, the layout is unfortunate. Phew, finished, that was some pretty stressful decision-making there
When I got to ERA 5 combat/strategy for the GameCube, I saw Pikmin 2. That made my face light up. Then I saw Fire Emblem PoR. I realized that I was going to have to pick between one of them.

Why would any sane person put Uncharted 2 and LBP2 in the same category? they're both really really good, but for really really different reasons.
Anyway, for Wii I picked S&P, MHT (of course), MPT, and LKS. All great games, though I haven't played the first. for GCN my picks were Zelda: WW, MP2, and FE: PoR. And I picked Zelda: MM out of the three on the N64
