Say what you want to about Apple products...they work. I'd much rather pay more for a quality product than end up with something that I spend half my life updating virus software on and spending much of my memory and processing resources running them in the background.
As for Steve Jobs, I'm sure his health makes it difficult for him to run the company full-time and it might be a good time to step aside and let Tim run things now. They've been grooming this guy for awhile now.

Yeah, Cook should do a fine job. Can hardly screw things up as much as Ballmer's managed to at Microsoft.
Jobs would surely have left a 10 year plan as well, so Apple's future in the immediate term is secure.
I can't stand Microsoft's Ballmer, he has all but misguided the company in my opinion. I really can't judge how Gates ran the company as I wasn't really keeping up Microsoft anyway, I've followed Apple, Sony PlayStation and Nintendo much more closely.
I do admire Tim Cook and I hope that he'll do a fine job with Apple. I wish Steve Jobs all the best.

What happened to the team thar created the Xbox (J Allard and the rest)? Are they still with Microsoft?
And what exactly is wrong with Ballmer? Isn't Microsoft doing pretty good now, with Windows 7, Windows Phone 7, and the Xbox brands all being successful? And don't forget about Kinect!

Before Ballmer, Microsoft enjoyed near total dominance of the PC market.
After Ballmer, Microsoft has thrown billions at projects that are never going to work (Windows Phone 7, Bing) and has been unable to address the rising competition from Google, Facebook and Apple.
The Xbox division has been successful, but Microsoft has lost a huge amount of traction in its business and enterprise sections. Its consumer interests are relatively small compared to that.
Windows Phone 7 is awful, Bing can't hold a candle to Google and while I like XBOX Kinect I won't be buying it. I do think there might be brighter days ahead for Microsoft nevertheless.

What.... Windows phone 7 is the best phone OS ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree about Bing and Google , though. Bing...just sucks lol
And Kinect is awesome I played Fruit Ninja on it this morning, and it was so fun!

But Microsoft has been throwing money at projects for years. The Xbox itself was an experimental project. No one knew how successful it would become.
And Ballmer has been with Microsoft since the beginning. He was promoted to CEO because Gates felt he could do a good job running the company. And are you really sympathetic with Microsoft, the company that has been accused of corporate bullying and monopolizing for decades?
I'm glad! Steve Jobs sucks. I hope this timmy turner guys doesnt make apple EVEN WORSE.
How old are you? I'm honestly curious.
Steve Jobs was a marketing genius who completely changed the way people look at electronics. His designs have influenced many non-Apple products. I have a Samsung laptop that looks exactly like a Macbook, complete with the same aluminum casing and glossy screen.
@Wilver: I don't give a damn who gives what to charity. I want a computer that doesn't crash or freeze up every five minutes. Only Apple makes those. Steve Jobs complained because MS steals all their design ideas from Apple. Windows just copies the latest Mac OS every time they come out with a new version. It's shameless. MS products are so shoddy it's hard to believe they are still in business. Xbox gamers are the worst of the bunch... how many times does your system RROD before you realize you are just being tricked out of your money?
@Corbs: I'm glad that somebody here gets Mac. Like Nintendo they build hardware to support their software, not the other way around.

I'm not sympathetic to Microsoft, no. However, it was a far more powerful and dominant company under Gates. That's Apple now, courtesy of Jobs.

My Xbox never has RROD'ed! And what do you mean? Windows 7 looks nothing like the Ma Os's o.O
As the Xbox, Windows Phone 7, and Windows OS continue to converge under their Metro UI initiative, I think we'll see a lot of good things. There's no reason why these three key business areas should have ever been so different and I am finally glad to see some common ground amongst them. I also think they'll keep getting better and better as they converge.
@TokyoRed Windows Phone 7 is the premier mobile phone OS in my opinion. I love my Samsung Focus and would never trade it, or WP7, for a non-WP7 device.
I am not a fan of the Windows Phone 7 interface. It's too cluttered and hard to navigate. Seeing it on Windows 8 is a disappointment. I don't want the simplistic "icon" look to go away.
