It wasn't the first rpg released on PS1. It wasn't a highly anticipated juggernaut like FF VII was. But I would argue it's the best rpg on the platform. A bittersweet story, great characters, great music, snappy combat, and the best subsystem I've ever experienced in an rpg (the 108 star companions).
It's a game I try to play through again and again every couple years.
I encourage anyone who's a fan of the rpg genre to keep an eye on its spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle.

All my favorite Mario platformers: Super Mario World, Galaxy 1 and 2, 3D World, and Odyssey all make me smile. I can play those any day and I'll be a happy guy. Other games that make me smile include Yoshi's Island, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and Sonic Mania.
Mario galaxy! Man when i played that for the first time i thought i died and went to videogame heaven! Then i got to the space Junk galaxy and nearly smiled myself to death!

I really love Undertale, despite being rather bad at it. That moment when I figured out what to do in the Undyne fight after dozens of fails. Fantastic feeling.
Other than that, Super Mario Galaxy 2 was absolutely fantastic to play for the first time. I know most people won't agree, but I can't help smiling whenever I have to wave my arms around like an idiot with the Wiimote and nunchuck.
