I don't have a lot to say as an opener, except that this woman was like my Hollywood mom, being that she played both Lydia Deetz and Kevin McAllister's mothers.
I mean, what a unique talent. There will never be another!
Anyway I'm not usually sentimental about celebrities really but this one hit me, feeling a bit overwhelmed and thought y'all might want to hear about it 😅✌️ thanks
She’s one of the best. Very sad news, been a big fan of hers since the early 90s. The work that she’s done with Christopher Guest is lesser known, but so great. This one hurts.
I know I have seen her in other things but she will be Kevin's mom from Home Alone and Home Alone 2. While its sad of her passing, hers didnt hit me too hard unlike some other celebrities.

She definitely was unique. I really liked her in that 'Really Weird Tales' anthology series back in 86'.
But in terms of nostalgia, Kevin's Mom from Home Alone is obviously where most of us recognize her best, Beetlejuice aside.
It's funny, my nostalgia goggles are partially breaking. lol I can't even go back to the original Home alone and enjoy it anymore. I'm sick of it. Maybe part 2, as long as i drop out once the bird lady shows up haha.
"While its sad of her passing, hers didnt hit me too hard unlike some other celebrities."
I appreciate your candor! I'm the same way: some hit hard, others really don't. Like you I don't sweat it when they don't, but OTOH i try not to deny my feelings even if I feel it's a bit silly given I never really knew the person. ✌️
I'm gonna check out Really Weird Tales! I love anthology shows, and I've been watching Tales From The Darkside and Monsters again lately 🍿 so I'm excited to have a new one. 👍 (thanks!)
I watched Home Alone over the holidays recently, and enjoyed it more than i thought i would! but admittedly, I hadnt seen it in a particularly long time, and parts of it seemed almost fresh 😅 I can hardly believe it myself, but its true! 😂
I followed it up with part 2 and yeah, by the time the bird lady showed up i was done lol.
PS did you ever see Amazing Tales? thats a good one. 👍
I don't think I've watched any films with her in them besides the Home Alone films, but still, rest in peace, Catherine O'Hara, and my prayers go to your family.

Oh man, I love me a good 80's anthology horror series. I'm new to Really Weird Tales, including Freddy's Nightmares, which has no official release btw. you have to go on eBay or Etsy to get high quality fan made disc sets, and Friday the 13nth: The Series(Unrelated to Jason Vorhees.) which does have two official releases.
I blazed through the Tales from the Darkside DVD set about 10 years ago. The stand out episode for me personally, was "The Last Car" about that girl who takes a light night subway train and things quickly run amok. As for Monsters. It's definitely more consistent than Darkside, lighter and just all around goofier and for the better I'd say. And what an opening! I loved "A Bond of Silk" where a newly wed couple checks in at a hotel suite, only to find out that it's home to a giant spider that feeds off it's guests. lol They just don't make them like they used to. Today's anthology series are just bleak, generic and soulless(Channel Zero rings a bell) with the exception of that modern Creepshow series, which unfortunately won't be getting a season 5.
Then you've got that 80's Twilight Zone anthology series, Tales from the Crypt(Watched all 7 seasons last year), and the one that I'm the most intersted in personally without a doubt would be Freddy's Nightmares. I've only seen two episodes so far which were included in that older blu-ray set as a bonus, with all of the A Nightmare on Elm Street films. Those two episodes, especially "It's a miserable Life" were an absolute Blast.
It's always a great feeling when you come across something you're completey new to from the 80's & 90's, especially when it's an on going series that you can really get invested in. Freddy's Nightmares, Friday the 13nth: The Complete Series & Really Weird Tales(Which is only a three episode anthology miniseries) are the next three i really want to dive into. And Nope, Have never heard of Amazing Tales, I'll look into it!
hey upon reading your excellent comment (thanks!) i realized i made an error: it's Amazing Stories, not Tales! ✌️👍
i think i might've torrented Freddie's Nightmares back in the day, but as you've demonstrated, there are just so many titles it's hard to keep straight! I too love anthology type shows and im excited for you to see amazing stories! its not strictly horror but some of them are just fantastical or peculiar kind of like some episodes of the Twilight zone, or ripley's believe it or not with better production values. 👍
OH i just thought of another one that I think I still have on DVD: The Ray Bradbury Theater. really good stuff! ✌️✌️
EDIT - i poked around, I think I mightve watched freddy's nighmares on Archive
Moira is one of the all time great characters, and absolutely NO one else could've played her like that! In fact, I could easily say that about all the main characters and their actors, just perfect. Great show! 👍❤️
