For everyone who has played Fire Emblem 3 Houses, does the game eventually focus solely on battles? I put in a lot of hours into it already and am only on chapter 8. The exploration is kind of boring for me, going all over the monastery and talking to people. I try to choose battles when possible but there are times I feel I should do explore just to see if any characters would join.
Overall I like the game but was hoping it will eventually be just battles like the GBA Fire Emblem games. Given my backlog and that there are additional story paths to play through, I hope the game doesn’t drag on for too long like Dragon Quest 7.
I was enjoying Persona 4 previously until I got stuck with the school exploration and eventually just quit playing that. I don’t want the forced exploration to wear out the game. If anyone can confirm whether the exploration is in every chapter or if it eventually focuses on solely battles I would appreciate it.
i eagerly anticipated this game, but i bounced after probably about 9 or 10 chapters of wandering the same halls talking to people. the "loop" was really boring and I found that I didnt care in the slightest to hear what the characters had to say, let alone to sit at an everloving tea party with them 😂
i hope you find your answer but I can say I feel your pain!
for a very economical (in terms of time spent talking vs battling) and VERY addicting and satisfying srpg experience, I recommend Shining Force 2! ✌️

Yeah that was the reason I stopped playing Persona 4. I play for the RPG battles but the exploration and interaction segments feel like “Animal Crossing/ Sims”. Hopefully FE Fortune’s Weave will be very battle focused. I feel even in the Fire Emblem GBA games the cinematic scenes drag on for too long.
@Don unfortunately for you, the game maintains the same general structure for the entire playthrough. So exploration + auxiliary battles, leading up to the main battle at the end of the month. I personally found this structure really engrossing but if you’re not a fan, it doesn’t really change later on

@Don Nope! Three Houses maintains its mission structure the whole game, including post-time skip. Full Monastery Loop for the first free day -> skirmishes for the rest -> main story mission was how I handled my playthroughs and it never deviated. I personally loved it but its not going to be everyone's cup of tea. Also if you think Fire Emblem GBA cinematics take too long....god help you.
@AnnoyingFrenzy
I do find the exploring segment a little more interesting than I did at the beginning. Maybe I will even get to like it later on lol. I will definitely take a break after finishing the Blue Lions route.
I don't mind the idea of character interaction and exploration in between battles in this kind of game, but it did get pretty boring wandering around the monastery all the time. I still liked the game overall and maybe that part will grow on me now I know what to expect if I ever get round to replaying it on a different route, but I much preferred the GBA games and Awakening.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
I agree that Three Houses went too far with its monastery exploration. It's fun at first but gets worse as time goes on. I recently played through Path of Radiance and it was refreshing to have just a simple menu between battles.
