Hello to everyone
I sold my original Switch just over 2yrs ago & im thinking of buying a OLED Version. Ive logged into my account & shows only the last 2yrs purchases, ive bought 40 + games & a couple of software titles & wish to know if these other titles will still be available to me to download. I called Nintendo & was told these titles should be available.
The key word SHOULD & before I come back to the Nintendo community please Help with my conundrum.
@DJStevo1 Nintendo's website only lets you view two years worth of transactions. However, on the Switch eShop itself you'll be able to redownload everything you've bought on that account, no time limits. I'm not sure why they limit the website like that, but on the eShop you'll be able to redownload everything.
@DJStevo1 Yeah, don't freak out.😉 It's just a quirk of the nintendo account site page at accounts.nintendo. All of your purchases are on record, but the purchase history on your nintendo account only shows up to two years. I don't know why the display is limited to two years.
But to address your concern, when you go on eshop on the switch, the redownload tab will have a list of all games you've purchased (that aren't downloaded), and you can check off the ones you want to redownload.
How to find redownload tab on eshop on your switch: Open eshop, select your user icon in the upper right corner (this opens your account page on eshop), and you'll see a Redownload tab on the left column of the page.
Why Nintendo support say your games "should" be there:
It's because nintendo support reps have to deal with a common misunderstanding when there's a family that shared a switch. The parent that sets up the console knows that their nintendo account bought and own the games. When you have other family members and other switch user profiles on the console, they use and play the games owned by your nintendo account. They aren't aware that their switch user profiles/nintendo accounts don't actually own the games.
Very often, later on, a teen or a spouse, decides to get their own switch. They transfer their switch user & nintendo account to their new switch. AND THEN they discover their user/account doesn't own the games they were playing. They get frustrated, and call nintendo support asking why they can't download their game. They didn't realize ownership of the game belonged to your nintendo account(the account that bought the game). And now that they have their own console, they may have to buy their own copies of the game, which costs more money that they never expected they'd have to spend.
