Thanks! I'd say that Nosferatu and I is probably the best poem I've written and certainly my favourite (it's by no means good, but it's odd and somehow alluring enough to amuse people). I've got a few more, but they're pretty standard as things go (mediocre metaphor based poems, a few average narratives) that I'll post if I'm asked, but they aren't very good, to be honest.
Well, I guess this counts as a poem; at least I consider it more poem-like than story-like (although poems do tell stories). I think it turned out pretty good! And hopefully this thread is actually a bit more serious than it seems, lol. Anyway, without further ado, here's my contribution to this thread:

So, poetry...
I have not liked it since as long as I can remember, and I still don't. There is this notion that disliking poetry = stupid, because apparently if you hate it, you don't understand it. This is one of the worst generalizations.
For years I have studied the poets and their works. Edgar Allen Poe, Sylvia Plath, Léopold Senghor, Homer, and Robert Frost, to name a few. They're all great. But I don't find any joy in reading these poems. I do not like this medium. I prefer prose.
However, I don't mind poetry accompanied by other forms of communication such as pictures or music... Especially songs.
Just letting that out there.

One time I wrote this poem to this cute girl, a lot of people said they liked it but there where some other people too. Other than that I dont have that much experience. ._.
I like Shel Silverstein too. He helped make my childhood awesome. He also taught me what to do in case I urinated on myself in a public place without clear view of facilities. We call that pragmatic poetry where I come from.

I don't really like poetry that rhymes and I never write poetry that rhymes. There are exceptions, I suppose, but I rarely read something and don't feel like it could have been done better without limiting yourself to rhyming. Though I do love George Watsky's poetry, and most of his stuff rhymes.
I don't read poetry very much, but I do like to write it. It's a good way to get what I'm feeling out in the open. I am hoping to get a book of poems published eventually, whether with my own money, or through a publisher. I have all my poems here: http://getyourmonkeyon.tumblr.com
@WinterWarm Especially considering the topic, it was an excellent poem (as you said, captures the American spirit, a good satire of American ideals).
@grenworthshero I had a teacher last year for Writers Craft who said, quote, "leave rhyming to the experts". I think he had an excellent point, and since then none of my poetry rhymes (as you said, rhyming is limiting).
I'd also like to post another poem of mine, just for the hell of it. It's actually the first poem I wrote last year for my Writers Craft class, so it isn't as good as my later poems, but hey, why not.
Welcome Back

As the screen flashes and
voices babble out of the
speaker, she walks in.
My eyes flicker to the door,
back to the screen
in a flash.
The inquisition begins,
as I knew it would,
as it always does,
as it will indefinitely.
I’m being pulled.
Pulled away from the
light, excitement, and freedom,
back into the cold, dull clutches of
reality.
Freedom can be intoxicating.
I learned about its allure quite recently.
Two months ago,
I sat, carefree, behind a screen
much like the one I’m behind now,
savouring it, my friends, and my newfound happiness.
No worries. Just good company and
that resounding feeling of
freedom.
But now, thanks to ‘parental guidance’,
I’ve made my return to
that harsh, forbidding planet,
the real world.
And it isn’t exactly welcoming me back with open arms or a warm embrace.
Fire and Ice, Ice and flame
Heated up, turn around cool down
Feel the frost, melt the flame
The one, the other
