This is a place where you can post your favorite bands people have probably not heard of, so they can get more recognition. Personally, I'm going to suggest Deerhoof and Perfume to everyone.

Just go to ANY forum and look for a "what are you listening to right now" or "name your favorite band" thread. I've found that people tend to post the most obscure stuff they can possibly find to be as "music elitist" as possible.

Here are some bands I've recently placed into heavy rotation on my iPod.

1. The Bravery
2. The Veils
3. The Antlers
4. Brand New

My favorite band is, and always shall be, The Tragically Hip back from my college days when we'd listen to Toronto radio stations because they had much better music than any American radio stations we had.

Currently playing: Gunstar Super Heroes (GBA), Infinite Space (NDS)

Well, hopefully, with a thread dedicated to "obscure" music, there will be less "I'm better than you because I like a band no one else has ever heard of"

@Roopa132
You're absolutely right about Kraftwerk. They're fairly well-known, but a lot of people still haven't heard of them. Pocket Calculator is one of my favorites by them. I did notice that Coldplay used some of their stuff, when I bought X&Y about a year ago.

Although not entirely obscure (they have done some theme songs for decently popular shows), They Might Be Giants would be my top suggestion. Besides, their style is rather...obscure. O.o

Yes! How could I have forgotten. I've loved TMBG since I first heard Flood. I think they have gotten a lot more recognition lately though, with their album Here Come the ABCs, which is really cool.

Thee More Shallows. One of the best bands on the planet, and nobody knows who they are. I urge you to listen to this song (listen to the whole thing)
