I agree. The president has just as much right to free speech as me, you and anyone else. Kanye really is a Jackass. sorry i had to say it.
I think the real question is why is the media making a big deal over Obama calling Kanye a jackass while they completely ignore the ACORN scandal going on?

"Jackass" ain't a curse word. It just means a donkey or a stupid person. The Oxford English Dictionary doesn't even list it as slang, vulgar, derogatory, or offensive. Obama was just giving voice to the truth, and it's hard to hold that against someone.

It's probably just a symptom of print and TV media snootiness, looking down at blog news sources and ignoring them. Though it's true the media has been ignoring a lot of ACORN scandals since Obama announced his candidacy. :-/
I'm not sure how I feel about Obama... I don't have a strong opinion of him either way, to be honest. Kanye West, however, IS a jackass, so Obama was unquestionably right on in this instance. Thing is if it was your run of the mill singer that had been upstaged, it wouldn't bother me so much, but Taylor Swift is as sweet and humble as they come. It was just wrong man.

@Everybody who replied to my post-Whatever, I really don't care about Obama anyway. I read up on Kayne Wayne, and I didn't know he was that out there. Perhaps, I should rephrase myself. Maybe he was not cursing. I always though that jackass was a vulgar word. But, I think it is safe to say that jackass is a cuss word. Also, I have never read in the news that a president before Obama used a cuss word in an interview. I guess if kids were to watch that video interview, they could start using the word jackass, just because their president. I think Kayne West is crazy because he wants to be in the Bible. Whatever, to be honest with you, I do not like Obama or Kayne West. But, I got better things to do than debate about pointless politics.

First, it wasn't said in an interview. Secondly, perhaps you've never heard of Richard Nixon? Or, if you wanted to go for vice presidents, Dick Cheney? Not that I'm trying to single out Republicans here but those are just a few that cussed like sailors, or so you'll hear.

It honestly irritates me that politicians feel the need to "reign in" the vulgarities you already know they're spouting off-camera. We've all done it and so have they. Better on the record than off the record to make it sound like some sort of a "scandal" when it really isn't. It's human.
