SPOILERS ALERT: Getting through the Goomba Bros. and King Goomba was a lot easier then I thought, even thought I did not fight in full health with the latter game (I almost died in fact). So far, I really like how this game is not taking itself seriously like most RPG's, which makes it al the more original. Like for example, the Bowser scene where the Koopa Bros. introduce themselves to Bowser himself then when Bowser finds out that they weren't guarding their castle, he gets ticked and the Koopa Bros. immediately run back to their castle. Will be interesting fighting off with them.

Unacceptable! Talk about it here!
This game is great! It really reminds me of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (or maybe the other way around). Same sort of style, humour and the combat system is similar too. Love it! Played a couple of hours so far, chapter 1 already. It sure takes a while to level up, 100 is quite a lot of those experience coin things when most enemies give you like 2 of them. o.O
Oh yeah, any advice on leveling up? I chose HP+ for level 2 but I think FP and badges will be really useful pretty soon.
Also the Star Pieces. I dunno if I want to use them right away or save them up for better things. Hmm...
SPOILERS:
I've finished off King Goomba and the Goomba Bros., arrived back in town and milling about before going after the Koopa Bros. The fortune teller woman is hilarious!
The Koopa Bros. are a funny parody of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Love their masks! And I wonder what their special attack is. That part where they show it off to Bowser is awesome. xD
@HolyMackerel: I have yet to put any points into HP, actually, but then I'm an experienced player. I've put one level into FP and the rest into BP thus far (three BP level-ups, I think). What you need to do is make sure you have what you need to keep going, as weaker enemies stop giving Star Points as you level, preventing power leveling. There is a max level in the game, and each individual stat also has a max value by leveling (50 HP, 50 FP, 30 BP).

A day late, almost two days late, IT IS TIME TO BEGIN. Might as well start a new game, since it's been at least a year since I last played my previous file.

Argh, there's something bugged out with my game. The + button and the right analogue stick aren't behaving, so I can't go into any of the menus (but down on the right stick still works) to equip badges or use items on the field. And in battle when I select 'Items', the cursor moves down the list by itself whenever I stop moving the left analogue stick. It's really annoying. I've got no idea why it's doing it, either. Hard-resetted the Wii, deleted and re-downloaded Paper Mario, and it's still doing it. Swapped both the Classic Controller and the Wiimote for different ones, same issue. This didn't happen when I played this game a few months back, so I'm really confused.
The only thing I haven't changed to try to fix it is the save data (I even moved the game itself off the SD card to the main system memory to see if that would fix it, to no avail). Hope I don't have to delete that, but I don't see how that could be causing the bug anyway.
EDIT: Problem solved. I had a GC controller in port 1, which apparently was making the emulator freak out because of two P1 controllers.
@pikmaniac02: A few weeks ago, I stated that I just might be willing to gift a game to a fellow Game Club member now and then due to my financial situation being relatively stable. Unfortunately, my PS3 broke shortly thereafter, so all my money suddenly had to go into a replacement. Sorry, man, maybe next time.
@Raylax: Well, that makes sense enough. I'm playing the game with a GCN controller anyway, so I didn't have any such problems. I'm glad you figured it out, anyway.

Ah, Paper Mario. Been many a year since I've played that. And after playing Thousand Year Door, Super Paper Mario and Bowser's Inside Story, I actually found myself playing the prelude, wondering what thousand year old, magical, broken-English speaking, jester of a smith was going to punt Bowser to the side and take the spotlight...
(minor spoilers) ...Then Mario lost, and I remembered. Bowser is actually the main villain! And he's in top form! A true gem of a game; no wonder I kept it all these years. Now, to deal with those mischievous Koopa Bros...
@Peznaze: Yes, the original Paper Mario holds the strange honor of being the ONLY Mario RPG in which Bowser is the main villain all the way through. If you look at it that way, the game feels a bit out of place. Still good, though.

I kind of cheated I started two weeks ago cause I was bored and now I'm midway through chapter 5. Anyway, I'm really loving this game I think it's even on par with it's sequel.
Man, I missed this topic completely. If I had known this was going on, I would have started on Friday. On Wednesday, I started playing Paper Mario again because the game was so awesome. I have just set the last star spirit free. (Yes, I played many hours the last few days.) Anyway, good luck everybody. Hopefully everybody enjoys the game as much as I do.
I already had a complete save before (or close to complete (all star pieces, max level, all badges)), but I keep finding more things in the game I didn't know. For example... Spoilers Dry Dry Outpost At the back of the outpost you can take some kind of magic course that will help you in battle every now and then. Man, itis strange that I completely missed that the first time. End of Spoilers
Ok looks like i left this at where I was staying over the summer. Luckily I will be going over during thanksgiving time and will pick it up then. Sorry for the delay. lol had no idea until now.
