I just got that issue yesterday, and I too was shocked that they revealed such a huge spoiler. It didn't really mess up the game for me, since I've known that for years (with having played any of the games.).

Sonic is AMAZING!! Nintendo is AMAZING!! I AM AMAZING!!
They tend to spoil stuff every now and then without giving warning... Although I love a good story in a video game, it doesn't bother me learning about it before I play.
I still subscribe. I'll never give up that feeling of physically holding it in my hand thing. Want to smell the ink and flip through the pages. And i appreciate the work that's put into it. Even though I already know what it's going to tell me, haha. I like it
Just read my newest issue over the weekend. I read the Heroes of Ruin article and then tossed it in the recycle bin. They published an article from someone about the spoiler concern mentioned in post #1.
I let my subscription run out over a year ago. Like @lonlon-milker said, I already knew all the news between the pages weeks before the magazine dropped into my inbox. Kinda want to go back to NP, though, after looking back at their feature game articles. But I digress.
I'm pretty okay.

Wait, quotes should be meaningful? Ugh, fine.

I finally got the Jan/Feb issue in the mail yesterday, one day before newsstands. Bummed about the lack of a new issue in February as I can hardly ever go a whole month until the next issue, but at least it's going back to normal after that it seems.
A great read that I will assuredly come back to throughout the month as usual (next two months actually since no Feb).
In the Jan/Feb issue, this exact issue is proposed in the pulse section. I'll copy Chris Hoffman's response here:
Actually, the supposed spoiler about Snake's future isn't a spoiler at all; It's been one of the key selling points of the game since the original version was first announced several years ago, and has nothing to do with the game's ending. Worry not; there's still a great story to discover.
Uh, zezzy, if I read the entire Let's Destroy the Shagohod comic, is it too late for me D:

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
