So since Nintendo and Microsoft have a close relationship and we were able to get Banjo Kazooie DLC in Smash Bros, what are the future potentials that Nintendo Switch owners can expect from their relationship? More games that are Xbox exclusives or more DLCs? I personally hope for more games such as Rare Replay and possibly Halo on the Switch. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Conker and Master Chief appear as DLC characters in Nintendo games either.

Unless Nintendo agrees to support Gamepass / XCloud on Switch (seems unlikely), I don't see it going much further than Minecraft (which was multi-plat long before Microsoft bought Mojang and would have been an extremely bad look to lock into exclusivity), Microsoft-published indies (Ori, Cuphead, etc), and games from the studios they've been buying up lately (Bethesda, Ninja Theory etc) - although in all cases, XBox / Gamepass will see priority on release date etc.

I don't think there'll be a ton of collab outside Banjo in Smash and Mario in Minecraft - by the same metric, I doubt we'll see Rare Replay release outside XBox. However, should Nintendo add N64 to NSO, or do an "N64 mini", I'd say there's a reasonably solid chance that Banjo Kazooie & Tooie will make an appearance there, possibly alongside Blast Corps. Goldeneye, Perfect Dark & Conker probably won't though - considering the licensing for Goldeneye, and age rating of the latter two.

@Don Halo is never happening. Rare Replay or the new Battletoads are semi-likely given Rare's past relationship as a major Nintendo developer and the fact that many of those games originated on Nintendo consoles, but Microsoft is absolutely drawing the line at IPs that either they completely own the rights to or that they created in house like Halo, Forza or Gears, because those are literally their flagship exclusives that they expect people to actually buy Xbox consoles or PCs for.

At this point I think Microsoft is probably deemphasizing their Switch support anyway given they have a console launch and launch window of games to focus on, and that can definitely take priority over supporting another console manufacturer that they're technically in the same competitive space as.

Note that Rare Replay includes the inhouse developed xbox emulator for xbox one. It will happen only if they drop the games that use it. Same goes for a possible Windows 10 port.

@belmont Yeah considering Rare Replay has never been released on the PC Microsoft Store or Steam unlike both Ori games and Cuphead, it's not nearly as likely to come to Switch at all.

There's a fair chance of the new Battletoads game coming to the Switch, but I feel that's where it ends. Although Rare Replay seems like an obvious choice for a Switch port, it's one of the few reasons to own an Xbone. Because of that, I think it'll remain on MS platforms.

I bet we get a banjo and tooie twin pack with the new nintendo nerd emulator. Split the profits. I'd also assume we are going to see a battletoads port.

Otherwise im greedy and would really welcome the first three halos (because we have a lack of multiplayer fps), and a port of killer instinct. Probably need a switch pro to do these ports right.

The problem with Rare Replay coming to Switch is that technically some of those games aren't even on the disc (if you have a physical version). Some games like Perfect Dark you download straight from the MS store itself so unless Nintendo and Microsoft want to allow MS stores access on the Switch it's more then likely won't happen unless the build it from the ground up.

Also let's not kid ourselves Cuphead and Ori are completely different then Halo or Forza. Those are games are made specifically for the Xbox consoles where as Ori and Cuphead were just third party exclusives. Expecting Halo to come to Switch would be like expecting Mario games to come to Xbox.

@Don if you want Halo and Rare Replay to come to the Switch just subscribe to Gamepass then you can play those games on a mobile device such as a tablet or phone with a Blu tooth controller with MS xCloud. It would be like having a Switch. 😉

@Tasuki Ori is a special case because Microsoft actually owns the Ori IP now despite Moon Studios being a third party studio technically, whereas they just had publishing rights on Cuphead, which is why Xbox Game Studios was credited on every Ori Switch trailer but none of the Cuphead ones.
