Hey all. I'm making a playlist for a Halloween party but don't want to include the "standard" novelty songs like Monster Mash, Purple People Eater, Witch Doctor, etc.
So I was looking to see if anyone knew of any Halloween appropriate songs that are a little more...you know. Just regular songs dealing with the holiday itself, vampires, zombies, monsters, ghosts, or general spookiness.
Here's what I've come up with so far with friends. I'd prefer classic rock stuff, but as you'll see, I'm flexible on that. Some of these are definitely reaching, so by all means, help me out and I can swap out the weaker ones!
Halloween - Ryan Adams Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon Frankenstein - Edgar Winter Group Vampire - Neil Young Zombie Zoo - Tom Petty Wolfman's Brother – Phish Psycho Killer - Talking Heads Highway to Hell - AC DC Running With the Devil - Van Halen Devil Went Down to Georgia I See Monsters - Ryan Adams Feed My Frankenstein - Alice Cooper Demon Woman - Flight of the Conchords Spooky - Atlanta Rhythm Section Evil Woman – ELO Ghost - Phish Spirits in the Night - Bruce Springsteen Shout at the Devil - Motley Crue Maxwell's Silver Hammer - The Beatles Dancing With Mr. D. - The Rolling Stones Sympathy For the Devil - The Rolling Stones Zomby Woof - Frank Zappa Careful With That Axe, Eugene - Pink Floyd Brain Damage / Eclipse - Pink Floyd The Great Gig in the Sky - Pink Floyd One of These Days - Pink Floyd Ghost Riders in the Sky - Johnny Cash Turn You Inside Out - REM Burning Down the House - Talking Heads Witchy Woman - The Eagles Desolation Row - Bob Dylan Maneater - Hall and Oates Paranoid - Black Sabbath Bad Moon Rising - CCR Run Through the Jungle - CCR Run For Your Life - The Beatles The End - The Doors People Are Strange - The Doors Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner - Warren Zevon A Walk in the Dark - David Byrne Golden Hours - Brian Eno
Nightmare on my street by Will Smith perhaps? I wanted to say Don't fear the Reaper by blue Oyster cult but somebody beat me to it. The song Red Right hand is sorta creepy. It's that one they used alot in the Scream movies.

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
Dude you need some Iron maiden and Slayer in there. Perfect for Halloween.
And you can't forget
Was just going to put the same video but then I noticed that it's already here Well, as that was Marilyn Manson version, I will also put the original one: [youtube:xpvdAJYvofI] It starts at 1:00.
I really don't understand why there are artists other than The Misfits on this playlist.
Oh, you said classic rock. Well, you should still add their song "Halloween" for obvious reasons. Pretty much everything they do is Halloween appropriate. "Skulls," "Astrozombies," the list goes on. Some are pottymouthed though, if that's a problem.
How about Nature Trail to Hell by Weird AL? It seems appropriate. Might wanna check that one out for a laugh.

Would you be interested in a list of noise-rock-ish stuff that just sounds creepy? Because I've got a few of those that may be nice additions.
Sure! I'd like to keep it from becoming overwhelmed by ambient stuff, but I'm not opposed to including them, so yeah, throw some my way!
Adam: Pottymouthed would be an issue, sadly, as there will be at least a few kids at this party. (Not to mention trick or treaters stopping by.)
Thanks for all the great suggestions, guys. Don't Fear the Reaper may be cliched, but I still forgot it, and it'd still be a great addition! I might also stick Godzilla on there just for fun.
Link79 mentioned Red Right Hand, and I'll second that you might include something from Nick Cave. Plenty of murderin' songs there, although language can be a problem with some of them. Anyhow, there's bound to be something useable and non-offensive on Murder Ballads.
But Nick aside, the dance-y absurdity of your Halloween party will not be complete without Oingo Boingo. The older ones will appreciate the 80s flashback, while the youngsters just might recognize the voice of Jack Skellington.

@Chicken_Brutus: Did you update your list with the stuff everyone has suggested? I have a few more suggestions but I dont want to mention something that you have already.
