Topic: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

@Twilight_Crow I want some advice from you then, so history doesn't repeat itself. In my original story, I introduce this character, who is a vigilante-sort of person. The very first scene shows him killing criminals in a fire, leaving the hostages alive, but causing massive damage. He is then shown to be amongst his two friend, and always bickers with one, and cares for the other. However, later on, I plan (and have started) talking about how they met (so far, I've only said "You where all there alone in the slums with that pitiful look on your face. You weren't born a beggar; and just like me, your innocence was stolen from you."). I plan to actually expand on him, but I wanted "professional advice" (AKA: not the advice of someone my age) to tell me if he isn't (too) Mary Sue.

@GuardianKing Nothing you mentioned there sounds Mary Sueish to me. Maybe you are worring to much about that.

The finale was fun.

@Twilight_Crow So basically, a picture perfect character who randomly appears and isn't given much information. But if I introduce a character who cares for another from the start, and give him in depth characterization later, then he isn't Mary Sueish.

Holy cow guys. I actually liked that song at the end. 2012 is real!
But anyways. It was a decent finale. I enjoyed it.

@GuardianKing Yes you are correct. Also, if all characters are introduced at almost the same time, is very unlikly that their interactions feel Mary Sueish, cause an explanation is expected eventually.

You should see this site and this one for reference. I think it will be very useful for you, since your characters (from what I remeber from the old role play) do have mary sue-like traits.

This one too, since it is the male form of Mary sue.

@Morpheel the characters I use for the RP on this site have already told their story. They have gained/lost everything that happened during their adventure, and are here sort of as an epilogue

@Twilight_Crow and @RevolverOcelot can you guys quote your last RP post. I want to make sure I'm up to date.

Don't worry, but I think you'll like that site, it includes lots of cliches and archetypes writes use. A writer like you will surely make good use of it.

I've been waiting and waiting for a song to top At the Gala and I had a feeling it would appear in the finale....and I got it! I've been playing it all day.

Also, the scenario of villian-impersonating-the-bride-to-marry-the-groom made me think of Disney's The Little Mermaid. Ursela did the same thing to marry the prince.

Ah, I see that you wish to join in on the two current RP's, @GranolaKing, me and @Twilight_Crow have one exception:
You can only use ONE character. So, you have to pick between your two OC's, or Luna. You can't have both.

@RevolverOcelot I want to join yours, but judging from @Twilight_Crow's last post, she set me up to play Luna.

I thought the finale was pretty good. Felt almost as dark as Return to Harmony, but didn't make me as sad.

As soon as they got to Canterlot and I saw the force field, the two thoughts running through my mind were "This feels serious-epic," and "Is that thing made of bubblegum?" I liked where the first part was going, though I immediately knew that the Candence that Shining was about to marry was a fraud. (Also, whole Twilight-Candence secret handshake reminds me of a Monk episode where Monk goes on the same plane as a women in disguise as a women she murdered, thus she seemed to have forgotten certain things she should remember, i.e. she said she had never flown before while her purse has a 1,000 flying mileage pin on it).

As for Candence being an alicorn, I think that's stupid. She could have easily have been a unicorn, and three's a crowd. There shouldn't be any other alicorns besides the high and mighty, immortal gods of the sun and moon. Having an alicorn that seems to live like your average pony is ridiculous, being as rare as they are.

Also, Twilight has a much-loved older brother that she never ever mentioned. I also think that's silly, but not as silly as Candence being a unicorn.

And I'm alright with them being Mary Sues, being the minor characters they are. If they were main characters, that would be a prob (heck, that's one thing that made past generations of MLP so awful), but seeing as we'll probably never see them again, it doesn't matter much to me. Though if we do see them again, they better give them more depth.
(Oh, and nobody seems to mention that Celestia is a Mary Sue in the show, although that might be because people like @Twilight_Crow do a good job of giving her depth in fan fics and this RP. And then, we have Trollestia....)

Also, this episode brought us Twilight talking to a sandwich. That's gold.

Oh, I almost forgot! I didn't give my opinion on the last episode! I thought it was alright. Truth be told, I was a bit disappointed because I thought Pinkie would be actually solving the case in a weird way, Inspector Cluzo style, rather than blindly blaming ponies/griffins/donkeys. After all, the best detectives are the semi-crazy ones, like in Monk and The Pink Panther.

@Destroyer64 What!? Celestia is not a Mary Sue! >:[ She is a darn Deus Ex Machina, ready to be used whenever the writters need her.

@GuardianKing It is the same RP you'll see. I didn't set you up, I wasn't thinking about Luna as in a character in the RP when I mentioned her, so don't worry. Just make your choice on which character you want..

"Luna? Luna hasn't been back all that long and I don't think she is all caught up. Then there is the problem of lots of ponies still fearing her over the Nightmare Moon troubles we had. sips tea "Haven't you ever thought of what everypony is going to think when they discover you being a performer in Las Pegasus? It won't look good, running away to move balls through the air, no matter how impressive. Finally there is the risk of a threat, if anything happens we need you here." thinking "that'll get her, she won't run off on my watch"

Celestia's eyes became as cold as ice. "Wait just a second there... Are you... isinuating that THE RESPECTABLE ART OF DEALING CARDS ON A SERIOUS GAMBLING GAME LIKE BLACK JACK, IT IS IN ANY WAY LIKE JUGGLING?!!!" She stared at Twilight, with the strenght of the sun itself.Her mane flared a bit.
