What musical genre do you associate with each decade?
Twenties- jazz (it was the jazz age, after all) Thirties- pop (the rise of crooners) Forties- jazz (the rise of swing) Fifties- rock (of course) Sixties- R&B (if you take the whole decade into consideration) Seventies- rock (pop was dead and R&B was replaced by disco and funk) Eighties- pop (the MTV era) Nineties- R&B (if you look at the All That musical guests, you'll notice that almost all of them are R&B artists) Zeros- rock (the indie generation)

I have a feeling this is going to turn into a quote mariomastermind521 thread. 60's rock 70's soul music 80's rap 90's rock 00's pop (majority of it garbage.)
before 1980s = oldies, cave tunes from 1980s-2000 = that's what I call music from 2000s-now = its too darn loud. shut off this devil music, you whippersnappers!

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
The internet's made it really easy to get into any genre you want, and made music of even the smallest bands available to everyone. I think that's worth a mention when everyone's hating on the '00s and '10s.
Not entirely sure if the point of this thread is "what music do you consider to be the most popular in each decade?" or "what music from each decade do you like most?"
Those are two different things.
TS did a decent job with the former, people replying are assuming it's the latter.
60s - Rock 70s - Rock 80s - Rock 90s - Grunge Rock 00s - Crap 10s - More crap
I would do pretty much that, but replace 90's with pop-punk. Yeah, Nirvana was there, but Green Day, Blink182, The Offspring, and NOFX all gained some popularity around the time Nirvana ended.
The Game.
Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.
50's - Pop 60's - Rock 70's - Disco 80's - Pop 90's - Grunge 00's - Country 10's - Country Don't believe Country music is taking over. Today in the United States there are 200 rock radio stations, 980 top 40 stations, and 3000 Country stations!
