Topic: Is it really true that Switch 1 system updates can't be reset?

As much as I love the video games that are coming out now, I have been slowly getting more concerned about the way things are going with accounts and online stuff in general. Japanese games getting banned and censored, the U.K.'s upcoming digital IDs, etc. don't give me any hope in that regard, and I'm starting to think there could possibly be a day many years in the future where I mostly leave online behind (don't worry, that won't happen until many years from now at the earliest).

So I had this idea where after I get my Switch 2 and send everything over there, I factory reset my original Switch and use it as an offline machine for physical games with no updates at all.

However, the Nintendo Support website says that factory resetting a Switch does not delete all of the system updates that are on it. ******* pain.

When I say I want no updates, I mean that I want the launch Switch without any updates, that doesn't even support online play or the eShop, so that if I don't connect to the internet at all, I never get any update prompts.

Do I really have to buy another new Switch 1 to have a Switch 1 without any of the system updates?

You can downgrade the system firmware but it is risky as each time the switch boots up it will check the number of fuses that are burnt. If it detects a greater number of burnt fuses then the firmware you have or should have, it refuses to boot.

I'm fairly certain that newly manufactured consoles already have all the updates that were released before it left the manufacturer so buying another one seems like a bad option. Can't you just turn on airplane mode or something?
